My situation is somewhat different than yours in that I'm older (49) and a lot heavier (over 200 lbs.) That said, I find that I lose weight faster when I do NOT exercise (or at least keep the exercise to a minimum.) One reason for me is that when i do vigorous exercise I get very hungry and eat a lot more and it just…

Ha! So true! My youngest is a Girl Scout so I can't keep them out of the house. First week I went through 2 boxes of the Savannah Smiles (the lemon ones covered in powdered sugar--yum!) The second box was eaten in one sitting while watching TV. If there's any upside to that little binge is that I did end up with an upset…

Any large "ethnic" market chains near you? Here in Southern California we have Jon's and Vallarta and the fresh produce is so much cheaper than at the regular supermarkets. I get bulk carrots for .33 cents a lb., a pound of strawberries for $1.50, green onions are 6 for $1.00. You get the idea.

Yep! That's my weakness, too!

You can always buy boxes to donate. The GS will send them to one of 4 organizations and you'll never have to see a box! (Yes, I have a girl scout, can you tell?) Of course, this is not nearly as fun as eating them! ;-)

Sources?? Because this contradicts everything I've ever read about either oil. Coconut oil is a saturated fat which makes it much more stable than seed oils. (Unless the seed oils are refined, but then you get into other health concerns.)

Love it. I use Spectrum Organic Unrefined. I have eczema and use it directly on my skin as well as in place of hair serum. It is excellent for cooking because it is very heat stable (high smoke point), unlike other oils (such as olive oil) which break down at high temperatures which can create free radicals. Every so often…

Hello, Looks like there are quite a few of us! I'm 48 and have about 75 lbs. to lose. So much harder the older we get, isn't it? I have a good feeling about MFP, though. I've been doing it for about 6 weeks now which is probably the longest I've stuck to any system. Feel free to friend me--always good to have support.…

Yes!!! I'm Cuban, so I have been drinking coffee since I was a toddler. Drip or American style coffee can be kind of watery to begin with so for me it's got to have cream and sugar. If I'm having a shot of espresso I don't need cream, however. I can still taste the difference between good coffee and bad coffee, believe me.…

What Ben ^^^ said is right. Quinoa is still over 70% carb. The advantage over other grains is that it is about 15% protein so it is also more filling and more nutritious, but it is NOT low carb. It is approx. 222 calories for 1 cup cooked, so if you have 2 cups that's almost 450 calories.…

:flowerforyou: What would this "innie" mom do without her wonderful "outie" daughter? Love you sweet cheeks! Thanks for putting me out there!

Feel free to friend me which will allow you to see my diary. My calorie intake is around 1730 - 1750 since I'm fairly new and have a lot to lose. My focus is on sticking as close to the calorie limits but still eating foods that I enjoy and are nutritious -- real food, minimally processed whenever possible. I still include…

Hi Rachel, Feel free to add me. I'm pretty new as well, but I've done fairly well for my first month. I usually give up pretty quickly, too. I think if I had one piece of advice it would be to track what you eat, no matter what! Even on the bad days! The great thing about the daily logs is that you get to start fresh the…

Wow!!! Congratulations on your success! I have a ways to go still, but successes like your are incredibly inspiring! (I've lost 11 lbs. so far.)

Hello! Welcome! I'm pretty new myself, but I have a good feeling about this. I joined the first week of January and have lost about 10 lbs. so far. I also have about 100 lbs. to lose, but I set my goal at 75 lbs. for now. (100 just seems too daunting right now. ) My daughter is also doing this--in fact, she's the one who…
