  • Actually, it's 3500 calories =) It is true that muscle burns more calories, but overall weight loss is calories in versus calories out. OP I agree with some of the comments here: be sure you are logging EVERY THING that passes your lips. Do that for a week or so, being honest with yourself in your logging, and you may find…
  • Hormone imbalances can also bring about diffuse hair loss and changes in hair texture and strength.
  • And don't be embarrassed because the people in this thread are correcting you. You asked for help, you asked for answers. Every response here is correct. You have no idea what you are doing to yourself by trying to justify what you're doing. Please take these responses to heart, for the sake of your family and friends, if…
  • The first week or two, the weight came off pretty fast for me too. I'm guessing some of that was water weight. Mine has slowed down to a more normal 1.5 or so pounds a week, so I'd give it another week or two to see if things even out. Congrats on your weight loss, btw!
  • Yes. Really. I'm here to lose weight and surround myself with like-minded friends. This isn't a pulpit. If I wanted to read the bible, I would do so.
  • for posting bible verses all the time.
  • Not to question your expertise, but food density and what position I sleep in has never affected my weight distribution. Ever. Is there any science to support your claim?
  • Why the sarcasm about someone else chiming in?
  • All this debate is pointless, lol. If you're eating the proper amount of calories on a regular basis, it doesn't matter when you eat them. No, eating before bed, in and of itself, will not make you gain weight. Eating too many calories in a certain time frame is what causes weight gain.
  • As to the issue of what you should be eating to lose weight, I've noticed for myself that as long as I stay away from overly processed foods and fast foods, I can eat pretty much anything I want and still lose weight. Providing I'm getting enough calories, of course. That has been a battle for me as well. Try putting in…
  • There are a lot of vegetables I can't stand, sadly. I've trained myself into tolerating many, but I still cannot handle tomatoes unless they're cooked and thoroughly pureed. The raw smell revolts me and I hate the texture. But I love tomato sauce, go figure. Eggplant - no can do. Brussels sprouts - nope, can't make me.
  • I really like my Fitbit One since I got it a couple weeks ago. On days you're really active, it'll add calories to MFP for you (although I rarely eat into those anyway, but it's nice to know I have wiggle room if I need it). I also really like the sleep monitoring, and I check that every morning. It's interesting to see…
  • What you have to remember is that we ALL get off track sometimes. What I've learned is that you need to plan for these instances and accept them. Plan for ways to get back on track, and DO NOT beat yourself up over it. The first step is not giving up, because you haven't done anything worth giving up over. You're human,…
  • Oooh I LOVE wheat crust pizza! I've been making my own this past year, too. Never tried it with sour cream though, will have to give this a try next time I get the craving. When I don't feel like making my sauce (which is most of the time, lol), Kroger has a tomato sauce with no sodium added. It's not with the pasta…
  • I'm glad to know I'm hardly the only one who checks daily! I log my losses 2-3x a week, but I'm on the scale every morning before I eat. It's encouraging and motivating to me to see incremental losses nearly daily. As someone else also mentioned, it does help me understand how high-sodium days affect me, and how my period…
  • lol @ DopeItUp. Beer is indeed a nice reward within moderation. Anyway I agree with pretty much everyone here. I have maintained a losing trend these past few weeks, and the only clock maintenance I do is to try and eat within a couple hours of waking. Sometimes if I forget to take my metformin earlier in the day, I end up…
  • Yes; I don't pay any attention at all to carbs and have lost weight. Although I will note that I don't often exceed the amount of carbs allotted to me by MFP, I just don't focus my diet on that and am more concerned about calories, fat, and sodium.
  • And I just saw you said you ARE polycystic...are you on anything for that? That was apparently my stumbling block this whole time. My poor little ovaries looked like they had the measles :(
  • Weight loss often occurs when you first begin any fitness/diet plan. But if you've literally lost nothing since then, I would suggest having your insulin levels and testosterone levels checked. I have struggled for almost 4 years to lose weight and it was nearly impossible. I (mostly) watched what I ate. At one point I…
  • I was diagnosed with PCOS last week, and started on metformin a few days ago. I'd love to have more friends in the same shoes, feel free to friend me. I had a helluva time last trying to lose even 2 pounds, it was very frustrating. Now, at least, I know there's a reason why. My doctor said the metformin would help balance…
  • Ah, don't let it bother you. You are right, of course, but on the other hand, maybe it's them showing their enthusiasm for losing weight and getting fit and that's their way of getting involved :)
  • I was just diagnosed with PCOS this morning and will be starting metformin tomorrow. It was a little depressing looking at the ultrasound screen. I know I haven't helped myself with my affinity for beer, either, even if I do stay within calorie limits. It's been extremely slow going losing weight, but at least since…
