Oh I like that I might just tone down the incline and use this once a week.

Sweet!!! Thank you for the article. Im wierd and need to know specifics. The race is out of town and I have never even seen the "hill" before so that worries me. It looks like (based upon my own map my run of the course) the biggest hill will be an incline of 182 ft in 1.33 miles so on the treadmill it would be 2.56%. I…

It takes a LONG time to learn and train yourself to breath properly. I agree you need to be breathing with your belly not your chest. Google how to breath while running there are alot of helpful tips. And practice all the time not just while running.

Oh I understand I HATE hills! Fortunately this is the same course I ran last year so I am familiar with it but it's going to be storming like crazy so now my goal is to just finish. If there is any wind at all it is going to shatter my time goal. I just need to go and have fun! Not like I'm looking to win any awards or…

Thank you! Good luck with your training. Only advice I can give is during your first race the only goal should be to finish and survive lol I thought I was going to literally die, but I didn't and won't because really its "only" 13 miles :P I even called my husband at mile 9 bawling that I was dieing and lost and there was…

This was how I felt last race. I had it planned out and told my husband around the time I would be at the meeting spot half way and when I came through 15 min early he says "omg your way ahead good thing I was early" I said "I KNOW!!!!! I cant stop"

lol I AM slow ;)

LOL thanks guys you made me laugh and chill out! I think it is because this is the first time I've "trained" for a race. Last year I did some but I also did it to just prove I could finish one again. This one I have put in time and effort (although I still think I could have done more). The kicker is the race starts no…

Ahhh! I have a year old GSP Beau (in my picture). We got him for me to run with (well and hubby wanted a bird dog so he hunts with him for a month and I condition him all year). I love him, they are so much fun and have so much personality. My husband says I love the dog more than him. Anyways. I started running with Beau…

I live in Iowa (Council Bluffs) and thought about Lincoln but I'm running my tried and true Gambler in Council Bluffs the weekend before. Good luck! Several good friends of mine always run the Lincoln but timing never works out in my favor :)

Thank you for posting! Very moving.

I pre-made egg frittatas last night for this week. In a jumbo muffin pan I added 2 scrambled eggs each, chopped spinach, green onion and feta cheese and baked for 30min. I wrapped them in foil and just take one and heat up for 45 seconds when I get to work. They are yummy and you can add whatever you want. I think I will…

I have a German Short-haired Pointer I run with. I typically only take him on my longer runs because my shorter runs are through our neighborhood and he is not used to all the commotion of cars yet (think of a ADD child, that's him). He is amazing on our long runs on the trails though. Longest has been 10 miles and he…

It looks like you are eating very good you just need to increase how much. Cheese, nuts, more eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese. The cals will add up just dont be scared to eat. Increase your lunch and breakfast even with 1 hard boiled egg or a greek yogurt or a handful of almonds as afternoon snack. Good job and keep it up.
Yes, mileage is what you should be working on. Speed will come with increased mileage. Just pick a plan and stick with it. There is no need to do any speed work for your first marathon. Just easy running with some tempo once a week will be enough. Hal Higdon has many popular plans. www.halhigdon.com
Thank…

I am going to run my 1st Marathon in October (trail). I will be running my 3rd HM in April and am training to increase my speed for that right now. I however feel that breaking that dreaded 10MM will kill me ugh After my HM I will start training for my Full might even add another HM mid summer. To be honest I am scared to…

I feel like a fatty now compared to all the other comments. I am 5'2 and the lowest I got was 135 but I was skinny fat. I now am between 143-148 and I think that is where I will stay or at least that is where my body think it needs to be at lol. I am not focused on the scale now though I am focused on strength. I am…

Girl I am in the SAME boat!!!! I started back at this April 1st and started New Rules of Lifting for Women 2x a week and running (2.5-3 miles) 3x a week. I've tried eating high cals I've tried eating 1200 cals. I've lost 2lbs since April 1st (and pretty sure that was from me drinking water again). I was to lose 10lbs. I…

Seriously their not talking about the actual battery actually freezing yeah that doesnt happen however when it is very cold it takes alot out of a battery to make the car start. I'm in Iowa and it has happened to me and my battery was just fine. When it gets below freezing it takes a toll on vehicles. Now really what does…
