I'm 5'7" - started at 158 and lost 40 lbs. Hang in there, be consistant, log everything, it will happen. I'd go 2-3 weeks and do nothing and then drop 2/3 lbs on the scale. After 6 months I could see the trending pattern of that. I've kept it off for almost a year

My kids - one 12 and one 15, are not allowed caffine leading up to games. They need hydration, not caffine. I'd be upset. Not that they are never allowed a pop, but my oldest especially (who is a cross country runner) has figured out how much better he feels and performs when he's had plenty of water and good conditioning.

I'm 5'7 and lost 40 lbs last year and have kept it off since July. I still track daily, but only weigh every week or two or whenever the whim hits. If I'm up a little then I exercise a little more or eat a little less. If I'm getting too low then I eat a little more. So far I've managed to float in a 5 lb range. Most of my…

You sound like you are taking the right approach. I lost most of my weight wtih just watching what I eat (tracking it) and walking. I remember a few years ago the first day at the gym I got on the elliptical and could barely walk after not very long. Start slow. Do a minute or two - you'll be surprised how quickly you work…

Just wanted to encourage you- as the mom of 3 who keep me going all the time, it can be done! Just log everything and you'll learn quickly how to fill out your meals with more healthy choices while still allowing yourself a treat. I've found that I include more veggies and with time I've actually come to crave them. I've…

I've found it to be the opposite. When I run on the treadmill for 30 min at a 10 min/mile pace it will say I burn around 430 calories, but when I plug it into MFP as 30 min of running (jogging), 6 mph (10 min mile) I get 266 calories. When I'm outside walking or running I use mapmyrun. It always gives me a much higher…

Congrats! So what kind of squats are you doing? I'm at my goal weight, but ready to tone up a bit :)

Great attitude! I started off LAST year (Jan 7th) and just kept at it. Nothing fancy - just following the basics and being consistant. 40 lbs later I hit my goal weight and I've stayed at my goal weight for 7 months and logged day 400 today. Now I'm looking to add some more strength training. It works - just stick with…

I found it and you are right - hopefully it will adjust my calories now and I can sync them. I've lost 40 lbs so I would imagine it makes a difference! Thank you!
-
Hmm - no, I guess I didn't realize there was a place to put it on MapMyRun. I will go and look - thanks!
-
I lost 40 in 6 months - doing it slowly - you can do it if you are consistant and patient. Just keep logging and don't give up.

We have about the same body size - I'm 5'7" and at goal and maintainin aroudn 120 lbs. You dont' sound like you need to loose much more, but I did 1200 calories - NET. I logged all my exercise and ate back 100% of those calories. So I was actually consuming more like 1500-1600 calories a day and loosing. And I made sure to…

I know that my experience over 6 month (and losing 40 lbs) was that I would loose, then hold steady/fluctuate a little for about 3 weeks then the scale would drop. As I got closer to goal those weeks of holding steady would stretch out a little more. I wasn't doing anything different in those weeks - just continued to log,…

I know most of my friends selling stuff are sincerely trying to get healthier and promote other people to be healthier too - that I like. It's the "eat whatever you want, don't change a thing about your lifestyle, but take this pill and you just won't want to eat anything" that bothers me. How can that possibly be good for…
-
Your story sounds so much like mine! I too squeeze in many of those "walks" so I can eat a snack or a little more at dinner. Works for me. Down 40 lbs and maintained there for over 3 months. Good luck to you!

After several messages from the friend I finally responded that thanks, but no thanks, I've lost all the weight I need to by tracking my calories and have maintained it so I'm not looking to loose more and don't have the funds for extra shakes. I want my kids (particularly my daughter) to see a healthly lifestyle that…

I want to maintain - you can add me. Since I dont' go tot he gym trying to keep it up with the weather turning will be my challenge. I'm going to make it to that 1 year mark at my goal though in January!!
-
thanks - I remember reading about that book - may have to try it.
-
I messaged you my email - thanks! I'll have to try downloading the MCT app. Gotta do the upgrade and clean off some stuff. Need to start something.

That does look like what I'm talking about it .. will see if anyone has feedback too.

I have used mapmyrun to log my time/pace and then enter that into mfp. This has been my primary source of exercise for the last 9 months (walking fast) and I eat back my calories. It must be fairly accurate since I continued to loose up to 40 lbs eating back the calories. You could get a heart rate monitor tough and get a…

You are more than welcome to friend me and check my diary - back up a month or 2 - I'm fidling with things trying to maintain now and find the correct calorie count so I have it set at 1500 so when you go back it will show me consistantly under - but at 1200 calories it was what it should be.
-
I am also 5' 7" and I did 1200 calories to loose (am at 1500-1600 now to maintain)- however, I added back on my exercise calories. So if I walked 5 miles and burned 300 calories then I ate 1200+300 calories that day. Some of my go to items - peanut butter (celery sticks dipped in those 250 calorie individual peanut butter…

I do too - I've found some ways to work Chocolate into my diet. I make what I call protein balls (oatmeal, chocolate protein power, flaxseed, peanutbutter, honey, and choc chips) and keep them in the freezer. They make a great sweet snack, breakfast, or before bed treat. I also like cottage cheese/oatmeal/banana panckaes…

I have lost 39 total- and have held that steady for the last month and a half. Funny thing - nobody noticed the first 20, honesly not many noticed the first 30. But when I started getting down to the last 10 and ironically this last month when I've stayed the same- everyone has noticed. I get comments almsot constantly. I…

I wouldn't say that's small - that's a big deal. So many people, no matter the size, can't do 2 mile - and lowering your time is awesome. I walk vs running too and have had great success with it. Keep going!!

My boys were in an out of state soccer tournament over the holiday weekend - so 4 days on the road, 9 games (one of them won the championship) and living out of a hotel with 3 kids. I ate out every meal (mostly at fast food due to cost of 3 kids), it was 100+ degrees ... and yet I stuck to my food plan and stayed even (I'm…

Thanks everyone!

Oh -and for my 40th next month, I'm getting a bike of my own! Now that my 7 year old can ride well we can all go together. So excited!

Thanks. Don't worry. As much as I appreciate input, I would never take advice from strangers over true medical advice. I am mainly looking for suggestions to see what I can do to try and manage it first before i pay my hogh dedictibld for a medical visit. If it doesn't go away I will certainly see my Dr for some bloodwork…
