  • That's awesome! Yes, this site is an excellent tool-- a great way to enforce a habit of healthy eating and exercise. Keep up the great work. You've got this. :drinker:

  • Good for you! You can have your cake and not eat it too! Of course, all things in moderation. I hope you at least had a couple of bites? And, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :flowerforyou:
  • I always cross check my calories burned with other sites-- usually two other sources-- to find an average and then I adjust the number accordingly. I never subtract calories for typical daily activity but just deliberate exercise. MFP is a tool not a rule. If nothing else, it makes us very aware of what we're putting into…
  • I take CoQ10 and a joint support supplement (I'm old!)-- Glucosamine, Chondroitin & MSM along with B-Complex. If you're eating well, you should be getting your vitamins and trace nutrients from your diet. You may find this recent article that discourages vitamin supplements here:…
  • We live in a world of processed foods and a food industry drive for consumption. JUST TO MAINTAIN GOOD HEALTH, we all need to be incredibly mindful of what we put in our mouths. This is not a disorder, this is a responsibility. If you want to achieve a healthy weight and you must either lose or gain to do this, it makes…
  • Keep in mind that the calories burned during a run are very different than during a walk: high intensity versus low intensity. Just because the walk takes a longer time doesn't mean you are burning more calories than a brisk run of the same distance; it is energy exerted not time spent! I agree that the calorie estimate…
  • Medium rare Kobe beef burger with aged farmhouse cheddar and applewood smoked bacon on a toasted artisan bun with a thick slice of ripe heirloom tomato, crisp romaine lettuce, a slice of vidalia onion, and garlic aoli... and I would relish it with a mountainside vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

  • I will be 43 next month. At the start of the year I felt like I had come to a fork in the road where I could either get as fit as possible or allow myself to get soft and saggy. I picked the road less traveled by: I started MFP in January and jump-started my fitness with Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. I was planning to do…
  • If I'm ever chased by a bear I would like to have the strength to throw a boulder at him--- and then run as fast and far as possible. Strength + Stamina + Speed = Beating the Bear!
  • If your abs are that sore it is smart to give them a rest. Don't risk injury from overdoing it. Change up the body zones you work each day giving muscles a break in between. This will be more effective and sustainable in the long run.
  • Thanks! I'm glad it will fuel your fire! I forgot to mention that I also do FitnessBlender.com which I think is absolutely fabulous. I was first planning to do Ripped in 30 and I found the hopping/jumping stuff was aggravating my bum ankle. FitnessBlender offers such a range of workouts and at different difficultly…
  • Yesterday I broke a new personal record and held a 2 minute plank! I'm going for the Triple Diamond by end of month! Nice challenge! Another good one is to incorporate side planks.
  • They don't call it the 30 Day Shred for nothing! Stick with it. You will see solid results by the end of the month. Also, understand that after those 30 days, you are just at the start of your fitness journey. Keep it going and you will feel better, slimmer, and stronger than ever! I did 30DS in January-- started at 152…
  • Excellent job! And, great time for your first too! So the big question is: what race are you going to run next??
  • '72 VW Super Beetle... white with a black racing strip!
  • Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? .... Bueller?
  • I'm going to bump this with the hope that someone responds... THANKS!
  • You are welcome to add me too! Good luck!
  • Hi there! I am 42 and I've lost 11 pounds since early January-- 5 pounds to go to get to my goal weight. It has been slow but I have learned a lot in the process as I am now more concerned about body measurements and fat loss/muscle gain than the numbers on the scale. After the New Year, I jumped started my fitness with…
  • I'm an American who previously lived in Europe, currently lives in the Middle East, and will soon live in South East Asia. I will be back in the US in a few weeks and the American food I can't wait to eat includes: Barbecue! Baby back ribs, pulled, pork, and beef brisket Beautiful fresh BLUEBERRIES Bing cherries Sweet…
  • I only drink water, black coffee, and wine-- an occasional cocktail or beer if I am out. I used to work for a winery in Napa, California and enjoying wine with a meal is just a way of life. Then, I lived in Paris for a while and the French certainly know how to incorporate moderate wine consumption into their daily diets.…
  • That I might overtrain and injure myself. A few years ago, after running a marathon, I ended up with a stress fracture in my tibia and my ankle's still a little wanky. I have the will.... I just hope this ol' body can handle it.
  • Wow! You look like you could take on the world. Way to go! Everyone on this thread has just done an amazing job. What perseverance!
  • THIS BLOWS MY MIND! How wild that you didn't nudge a pound on the scale but you look like a totally different person. Anyone who is exercising regularly and is discouraged when they don't see weight loss should see this!
  • Here is a very interesting article I just read yesterday about unrealistic sodium limits and how too little sodium is bad for you...…

  • Done! Will you possibly publish your paper here so we can see what you've uncovered? Very interesting subject, good luck!
  • You look great and I love that you have realistic goals. We're all not destined to be fitness models! You've done things the healthy way and I wish you long term success. Kudos!
  • Ha! This is great... awesome visual too!
