  • Also WW is a program you have to follow, a group you have to join, weekly check-ins etc, which for me, as soon as I couldn't make it to a meeting or didn't want to continue paying out that money, meant that I'd stopped doing WW and then ATE ATE ATE. The mentality is just different with MFP - I'm not following a program,…
  • HI Rachel, I've got 2 daughters, and have been using mfp for 4 months now, and loving it. Feeling a bit 'blah' myself today actually so know how it is! Think it's PMT and the fact that it's cloudy and grey.... Best of luck with your weight loss, add me as a friend if you like!
  • Hi, Northamptonshire! I agree, same time zone - and same food products - would certainly be an advantage!! Add me anyone, always up for more friends ;-)
  • I too know where you're coming from, mum of two, paid work, unpaid work, helping out at school, etc and have yo-yoed FOREVER. MFP is fab, and is the first time I have found success - slow but steady towards a new healthy life. Feel free to add me as a friend (anyone, not just the OP!).
  • Hi, friend me if you like - I've been here 4 months and it's the longest time I've stuck out any weightloss program, and it seems effortless with all the support from here!
  • If none of the above works, go to your doc - they should have a continence physiotherapist they can refer you to. They can check you're doing your pelvic floor/kegel exercises correctly, and give you further exercises to try to improve your situation, or start the process of referring you for a surgical procedure if…
  • I don't know how much money you have, but this is a great UK company and they ship to the US too. Even if you would rather be fitted for bras in person, take a look at their clothes, which are fitted for different breast sizes so there's no more of that problem of fitting a shirt over your boobs which then leaves too much…
  • I think the worst thing you can do is put him on a diet, or make it known that you're changing his eating habits to help him lose weight. Instead just talk about healthy changes as a family, how you're eating more healthily to make your body work better, and maybe try to nudge him towards those changes too if you see him…
  • Do you have to have a doner? Could you have the kind where it is grilled chicken breast and salad in the pitta bread instead, which I think are actually not *that* bad. Maybe hold off on the garlic sauce tho....
  • Welcome - also from the UK, fat, but getting fitter courtesy of cycling, Zumba and 30 Day Shred! Add me as a friend if you like!
  • Me too! I had several family occasions over the weekend, plus visitors, plus Mother's Day here in the UK. I tried to moderate what I ate but don't think I did very well. BUT today is another day and I'm back on it now. You can't stop life happening, and just because you slipped for a couple of days that doesn't have to…
  • She can do it as a lot of children are FIT!!! My two never stop all day - they run everywhere, never sit still, are up and down the stairs, play on scooters, beg to go out on their bikes.... the list goes on. I think it's the unconcious kind of fitness you have before you discover too much crappy telly and white wine! Not…
  • Would your 3 year old put up with being in the buggy if you sling the littlest one?
  • Well done you, enjoy your evening! That gap between one lot of clothes being a bit to big, and the next lot being a bit too small is a killer isn't it? I'm wearing a pair with a distinctly baggy bum today!
  • Ohh, thanks. Keep us posted as to its accuracy after Zumba please.
  • I hear this! I tried on 3 pairs of jeans today by the same manufacturer - The size 18 (UK) fit perfectly, the 16s were slightly too loose, and the 20s wouldn't do up at all! I wish there was some standard that they adhered to - would make my ebay purchases much more successful ;-)
  • To me that doesn't seem like messing up at all - you only ate half the pie, and you logged it, and you know how much you have left for dinner. To me that just sounds like managing real life the best way you can!
  • Makes sense - if you take yourself as 100%, the more fat you have in your body, the less space there is for 'everything else' such as organs, blood, bones etc AND water - and as the organs, bones etc arent going to get smaller, I guess there is less space for the water! Actually that sounds dubious written down but it…
  • Mine's open to friends only, feel free to add me!
  • Wash the jars, put them in a low oven to dry and sterilise, then make your sauce. I saute some finely chopped onions and garlic in very little oil. Add my chopped up toms (all shapes and sizes, any kind), some herbs (oregano, italian seasoning, etc), maybe a pinch of sugar if it needs it, and salt and pepper, then cook…
  • Non Scale Victory - something that's good about weight loss, but not measured purely by your weight (so the scale). Like fitting into smaller clothes, being able to cross your legs, stuff like that.
  • As you say, all good, but not great if you're not comfy! I had to get a big saddle for my bike (huge and wide like my bum!) as I need the comfort. Those racer bike saddles - owwwwww!!
  • As well as all the above, It's nice on top of couscous as a bit of extra flavour/protein if you need the extra cals. You can also layer with spinach and a little feta cheese and bake in a pie with filo pastry as the topping (just bake till pastry is crispy and middle is hot). Lovely with falafel in pitta too with salad,…
  • I don't get how you'd measure your hips with your waist? Surely if the tape is round your hips and it's level, then it's nowhere near your waist? I measure mine at the widest part of my hips as I face the mirror, and this way, yes, the tape does go over the belly fat, but it's unavoidable really. As someone else said, as…
  • I was at a kids' birthday party last night, with the usual buffet available on the table the whole time - biscuits, cakes, breadsticks, dips, crisps, pizza, sausage rolls, sausages, sandwiches......... and it wasn't until I got home that I realised I only munched a couple of times and even then it was carrot sticks and…
  • I agree, as you said, it's a public forum. Plus, if you leave their incorrect post unchallenged, then others may believe it and base their actions on it in error.
  • You look absolutely fab, imagine how good you'll look in your new clothes. Keep up the good work!
  • Completely agree with this - my husband has always been slim, has never had to watch what he eats, and genuinely has no concept of how many calories are in things - you could tell him a Mars had 20 cals or 2000, and he really wouldn't know which. So he'll buy me something nice, really just to be nice, not to sabotage, and…
  • Welcome, we're a friendly bunch! I also have a lot to lose (though a bit more than you :ohwell:). My dad lives in Northen Ireland if that counts! I'll message you.
  • My dad was much the same - always made it known to me when I was a child that I was too fat, and said I should just live on lettuce for a while so I could be normal - this was when I was age 7 or so. He always brought me a Terry's Chocolate Orange when he visited (he didn't live with my mum) - talk about mixed messages.…
