  • In my experience it's only a matter of time and you need to be patient. I have an apple-shape so tend to carry most of my weight on my belly... It takes longer for me to see a noticeable difference but it does come off eventually!
  • This is something I tried a few weeks back - http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1993658/homestyle-chicken-curry I reduced the amount of oil and got rid of the sugar altogether and it was really yummy. If you like lentils, I cannot recommend this recipe enough…
  • I know what you mean about them not tasting quite the same but if you're not great at cooking them you could always get ready-made sauces. They're not the healthiest option but at least you can control portions and, to a point, fat amounts much better!
  • What kind of takeaway food do you like? I was in that situation when it came to curries... Then I switched to supermarket-bought curries and then said "enough is enough" and started making my own. So it's curry on the menu once a week, then kind of chinese-type stir fry with noodles another day... All made from scratch and…
  • I was stuck for a couple of weeks and what ended up solving it? An evening of not counting calories and eating whatever I fancied. Not sure on the "science" of this but I always find I have consistently found that I lose more those weeks when I take a little break. Personally, I don't have a "cheat day" as other people…
  • Yeah - exactly what the other guys said - create a recipe, weigh and add all the ingredients individually. In my opinion, MFP calorie counts for cooked meals are way off most times as they can vary too much depending on you actually cook the dish so you're better off creating your own recipes. It's a pain but if you tend…
  • "don't eat anything prepackaged" is not a dumb thing to say, it's the easiest way to actually cut out processed foods. I don't eat anything processed 99% of the times (on my way to remove canned soup from my diet too as soon as I finish off the tins I have in the cupboard) and it's simply a matter of cooking every meal…
  • No way on earth you are overweight - you look lovely and healthy and I'm sure there's a lot of us who wish to have a body like yours. Screw the BMI and plans made purely on numbers I say - according to the BMI scale, I should be around 58kg (for 1.64m)... A couple of years ago I got down to 62kg and looked seriously ill.
  • Fellow slimming bride over here (getting married in Spring 2014) - feel free to add me :D
  • Forget about it, get back to your plan and ensure it's only something that happens every now and then :) One day like that doesn't make you fat - the problem is when one day becomes a week etc.
  • My most honest advice? Get rid of the mental block :) Given that you've been losing 1lbs per week on average 4.4lbs is definitely doable but don't obsess over a number too much. What if you lost 2lbs? 3lbs? Still great!! Good luck :)
  • Not sure - I was thinking of going for longer walks but given what you said it looks like that won't be quite enough. I can't afford the gym at the moment - do you reckon exercise dvds would do the trick?
  • You mean TDEE -20%? Would you mind sharing the link where I can download the spreadsheet from?
  • Errrr, if I did that I would net weeeeell below 1200 which is not really the way I want to do this.
  • Thanks guys, much appreciated. soldier4242 - no way I'm giving up without a fight :) You've done so well. I'll stop worrying about it too much! Diannethegeek - I really hope it'll shift before it gets to a real plateau then! I'll monitor my water intake more closely. Generally I don't track it as drinking has never been an…
  • The best advice I can give you is to be patient, don't starve yourself and make changes that you will be able to maintain for life, not just to lose a couple of pounds :) Everything else is easy, hehe!

  • Struggle to eat AT LEAST 1200 calories. LOL. I'm all over the place today!
  • Of course I am not talking about exceptions such as medical issues or undereating every now and then (for example, I've had my wisdom tooth out this morning, will probably hardly get to 1200 at all). By all means, I am also against the idea of eating for the sake of reaching a certain number, defeats the point in the long…
  • Don't get me started... I posted a very reasonable discussion thread regarding those people who claim they struggle eating 1200 calories a day. I have learnt so much thanks to these forums but there are some people who are not even willing to talk :-/
  • I'm really sorry you took my discussion completely the wrong way and totally missed the point. Rightly so, you do whatever you think is right for you.
  • Fair point! It's crazy though, especially here at MFP where there's a huge community of people for the vast majority always happy to help.
  • This made me giggle ;)
  • So you think it's a matter of lack of knowledge in terms of nutrition and perhaps a "all or nothing" kind of attitude?
  • 5'4'' and currently 168. I started at the beginning of January when I was 181 :)
  • How many eggs do you consume per week? £8 sounds a little excessive given that the average 12 free range egg pack is well below £3. Same with yogurts - I guess it depends on the quantities you consume but £14 sounds far too much. My weekly shop is very different as I tend to eat meat only 2-3 times per week and have plenty…
  • I really wouldn't recommend going any lower than 1200, you'll do more harm than good. Don't mean to be harsh but what's with the "got to lose 2lbs" per week? The closer you get to your target weight the longer it takes to shift lbs so don't give yourself tight deadlines. The most important thing is to lose it and make sure…
  • Welcome on board! I'll add you now :)
  • I always log the calories burned with the Wii Fit with My Exercises because, like you said, it varies so much depending on what you do. I enter the figure that the Wii gives me.
  • If you go to the main screen (the one where you have the counter on the bottom left and the list of types of training on the right) it should give you both the time of today's workout and kcal burned.
  • 99% with you - but I've pencilled in a curry for tomorrow night but all within my calorie goal :D
