Pilates is good for the whole core area. I think you have to eat pretty clean too to get that flat belly.

Definately get fitted at a real running store and get good shoes. I started running in a $25 pair of shoes and had all sorts of pain. When I got my good shoes all the pain disappeared. Good running shoes are worth every penny. Now I buy the exact same shoes online for much cheaper.

I made myself a cheat sheet of okay choices at all the fast food places I sometimes eat at and keep it in my purse. That way if I'm caught off-guard I know at least one meal I can eat there. Also when in doubt, order a kids' meal.

Great post - agreed.

Chobani greek yogurt has 140 calories and 14 grams of protein. But it does have 20 grams of carbs and 20 grams of sugars. I find with this and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese during my day helps me make my protein goals.

I also like 30 Day Shred:) I also do Jackie Warner Power Express, 30 minutes with weights and cardio together. I think it's tougher than 30DS. I also like the 10 minute Solution DVD's - they all have 5 10-minute routines and you can mix and match. Do you have On Demand on your cable - they have a lot of workouts that are…

Google Couch to 5K - it's a wonderful program to work from walking to running. And definately invest in good shoes from a real running store. It is shocking what a difference that can make. They'll analyze your stride and foot and recommend the best shoe for you. It is expensive, but the next time you need shoes you can…

All these ideas sound great! I have one more - I cut up fruit and make my own dip. Equal parts vanilla yogurt and reduced-fat cool whip and add a little cinnamon. Last time I brought it to a party people thought it was the fruit dip with the marshmallow creme. Not that I'm just going to eat fruit, but it's something to…

The less you weigh and the more in shape you are, the less calories you are going to burn. 500 is pretty darn good for you I think! I know my husband can slack off and still burn almost twice the calories I do going full force.

I hate the mirror at classes too and I'm only 5 lbs from my goal! I think everyone thinks they look stupid when they watch themselves no matter what size or skill level:) I always try to get to zumba a little early so I can get a spot in the back hopefully behind someone. And remember most people are watching the…

Check out Hal Higdon's website (google him). He has great plans for all sorts of distances, 5k, 10k (a bit over 6 miles), half marathons and marathons. He also has some plans for improving your times. You will find some great plans and information there. Good luck!

Great idea! My husband I and I have been wondering if we should subcribe to netflix since we finally got a wii. Are these workouts just from the regular basic monthly service or do you have upgrades?
-
Just an idea - it might be helpful for you to pre-plan your food the day before. Most nights before I go to bed I enter my food for the next day and it really helps me stay near my calorie and protein goals. It also makes the next day much less stressful as I know exactly what I'll be eating. And if something unexpected…

You'll just have to see how 2 cheat days works for you and adjust. Kinda depends on what you do to cheat. The only thing that worked for me to give up Diet Coke was to do it with some friends at work. We went cold turkey for a month. It helped to know I'd have to tell them if I cheated. I felt a month was enough for me to…

Zumba is my new favorite thing! I have no rythym and still miss a few steps but it's so darn fun I don't care! I'd love to get the wii game and would go to class every day if I could! I detest bananas.

I make my own breakfast sandwich. Microwave or fry up one egg, meanwhile throw a light english muffin in the toaster. Put some deli ham on the english muffin bottom, add egg, add cheese slice, top and enjoy! I actually love oatmeal, so this sandwich is my lunch sometimes too.

I also was too scared to go to maintenance, so when I hit my goal weight (2 1/2 years ago), I set my calories up to lose .5 lb a week. And I always eat my exercise calories. I ended up losing about 2 lbs. a month, just like it said I would. So mainenance worked for me. This time I am going to go to .5 loss when I am about…

When I was pregnant - "You're eating for 2 so you can eat as much as you want." And then later I told myself this, "No reason to lose this baby weight, I'm just gonna have another kid in a few years anyway!" And that's why I ened up on MFP! "You work out all the time so you can eat/drink whatever you want." Yep, if that…

I have a head cold right now and just finished working out to a circuit training DVD. I really do feel better and less stuffed up.

If you are suffering from constipation/bloating, etc., I suggest a probiotic from a health food store. It's helped me so much. I'm not in bikini shape, but my stomach is better from it. I tried the cheapo probiotic from the drug store and it made things worse, so I really reccomend you pay a little more and get a good one…

Use it in any recipe that calls for ground beef. Most of the time we can't tell much difference.

I like Jackie Warner DVD's for strength training. I actually can see my bicep muscle for the first time in my life now. Not bulky at all, just looks more defined.
-
I love love love Zumba too! I've only gone twice, but it's the most fun ever. When I look at the clock I feel disappointed that time is passing instead of relieved like with most workouts. I can't imagine being bored with this. For all of you who are scared to go to a class, I have no rhythm or dancing ability but no one…

I've only gone twice so far and it is a blast! Usually during exercise I look at the clock and think, "Really?! 20 more minutes!" and at zumba it's, "What?! Only 20 minutes left?!" Everyone seemed very nice. I have no rhythm and have never danced, but they say to just keep moving and it's fine. I did notice that when she…

Just get there early and get a spot in the back, that's what I did when I did step several years ago! It was fun although I never really got my arms going the right way because I was concentrating so much on my feet. Most people are too focused on themselves getting the moves right that they don't have any time to watch…

Jackie Warner has some good strength training DVD's. Her Power Express is 30 minutes and a full body circuit. Her DVD's are pretty cheap too, I got mine for $10 at Walmart. She has some stuff On Demand right now too.
-
If your cable has On Demand there are tons of workouts on there - go to starter on demand.
-
Do you have On-Demand on your cable? I do lots of free workouts on their free section. They change all the time, which is a bummer if you find one you like, but it's also good when you get bored. Many people on here have recommended you pre-plan your meals - that's great advice. I also like Taste of Home - Healthy Cooking…

Like everyone else said, spend the $ in a good running store to get good shoes. I bought my first pair for big bucks in the running store, but bought another identical pair online for much less. Not crazy about the color, but for $40 bucks less, not a big deal.

I got my DVD at Walmart. It was $10. It is just the one workout though.
