  • I like to water down my gatorade and drink that if I run over an hour. I can only tolerate the orange flavor - don't know why. If I don't have this, I completely bonk. I find if I drink pop, eat fast food, or eat a lot of sugary food the day before a run, my run sucks. Especially if it's a run over 4 miles. I also run…
  • I have both. Turbo fire is much more intense so I like it better, but I am sure I wouldn't have picked up the moves as quick as I did (which didn't seem very quick:) without doing Turbo Jam first. The first few times I kept thinking, "Thank goodness I did Turbo Jam or I'd be totally lost!" I just have the Turbo Jam 5…
  • I love my Just Dance and Zumba wii games. Choose sweat mode on Just Dance - I have a HR monitor and burn more on Just Dance than my Zumba game. The zumba game is fun, but not nearly the calorie burn I get at a live class, but still it's not bad. Also if you have kids the Just Dance is pretty fun with them too!
  • I can't believe how many people want to go bash the teacher right off based on the words of a fourth grader. I am a teacher - how would you like it if we believed everything your kids told us about you? It could just be a misunderstanding, which you can't know unless you chat with that teacher. Kids sometimes have a…
  • You could buy one of Jillian's cheap workouts - 30 day shred or one of the other $10 ones. A hundred $ is a lot to spend if you aren't sure you'll like her. I think her workouts do work, but I personally just don't like her as a trainer. I do love Chalene though so she is worth all the big $ to me.
  • This just happend to me on turbo fire too! I am now on week 6 and feel better. Are you taking a multivitamin? That helps me a lot - the iron especially. Did you make a major diet change? It could be you are adjusting to 2 big changes - intense exercies and a big diet shift??
  • Think Thin bars. 20 grams of protein, 24 g carb, 6 g fat, 0 g sugar, 240 calories. I eat them for breakfast and they keep me full. They are cheaper on Amazon than at my local store.
  • My 8 year-old son just started running with me. He saw me do a couple of 5Ks and he wanted to try it. You do have to change your expectations though. No more 9 or 10 min. miles and we have walk breaks! I have to think of it as "together time" not "my workout time" and that helps a lot so I don't get frustrated. I run early…
  • I do a bottle of half gatorade and half water after an hour. That seems to be enough for me. I know people who eat their kids' fruit snacks too instead of the more expensive sport jelly beans and they say that works good too. I just didn't like the time it takes to chew them.
  • It could be the humidity. In the middle of last summer I was up to 8 miles with no issues and when the humidity hit, I could barely eke out 4 miles and felt sickish for a long time after. I started running at 6 am just to avoid the worst of it, at least you don't have the sun beating on you at that hour. But keep trucking…
  • I think pilates has helped my stomach area quite a bit, but you have to have overall fat-burning and a clean DIET. Very depressing:( I think I may have to give up sugar to get there. I feel like I'm at the point where only something extreme will ever get my stomach to where it would look good in a bikini. But then again,…
  • When I'm running, I think of someone who laughed at the idea of me running a half-marathon. That got me through training for it. No way was I gonna fail. And I did last fall, so ha!
  • I think as long as you do the lifting 3 times a week, you'll be good. The cardio stuff is good, but nothing special. Honestly, you'll tone everything! If you want abs, you'll probably want to add the abs section a few times a week too. I was actually planning on running and doing CE 3 days a week this summer! No treadmill…
  • There are 3 phases to the program and each phase lasts four weeks. You lift 3 days a week. There are 3 workouts for the Burn phase (so you do those for 4 weeks), then 3 new ones for the Push phase, then 3 for the lean phase. I think they were around 30-40 min. each. Then she gives you 2 cardio workouts (one is 45 min. and…
  • I've done CE and 30DS and I much prefer CE. I don't care for Jillian's style much but I love Chalene. She's so upbeat and fun but not in an annoying way. I saw great results too, my arms and legs were firm and I could see muscle. I just bought resistance bands ($15 or 20 at Target for 3 you could clip together) and they…
  • I have done classes and I have Zumba 2 for the wii. The classes are more fun but I love the wii game too. I like the different length classes and the fact that I can make my own playlist of my favorite songs and the intensity I want. I do not have a HRM yet, so can't say how accurate the burn is. I prefer real classes but…
  • Okay, I'm gonna give this a try. I have an elliptical. I think it'd be more fun outside running but too cold for me now. It will be tough to quit after only 20 min. How on earth will I ever figure out my calorie burn without a HR monitor though?! You'll have to tell me what you get so I at least have some idea.

  • I completed the whole thing with resistance bands and they worked great! I'd rather have Chalene's select-techs, but they aren't in the budget. I bought a set of 3 from Target, you can clip one or more together at a time, so you can get a lot of resistance. They were $20. It was a little frustrating at first, sometimes I…
  • Do you take a mulitvitamin? I used to also feel just exhausted all the time. When I had my yearly physical the nurse asked me if I was tired a lot because my iron was low. Not low enough to be a medical issue, but enough to make me tired. A generic grocery-store brand women's mulitvitamin solved it for me!
  • I just finished the whole thing a month ago and now do it 2 days a week for maintance while I run. I did it with only the bands since the weights are out of my price range. I got a band that had 3 adjustable bands (you can use one or combine 2 for more resistance) at Target for $20 and it worked great. I can actually see…
  • I have also heard many times abs are mostly diet; eating clean, avoiding sugar. I did think pilates helped more than anything else I've tried, including 30DS or ab workouts. I wouldn't be caught in a bikini yet, but it's getting better. If I could cut the sugar and do pilates, I think I'd see even better results. Too bad I…
  • I LOVE Chalean Extreme too. I am using the bands and they work fine. I would rather have weights, but too pricey for me. I did find a resistance band at Target that has 3 bands you can clip on or off so you can use 1,2 or all 3 at one time to increase resistance. I found the cheapo single bands weren't enough in the Push…
  • You can also find the schedule online. I googled Chalean Extreme schedule and found mine on some beachbody coach's site. Also found the worksheets to record my weights that way too.
  • I think pilates has helped a lot, although I'm nowhere near bikini shape:) I have always heard "abs are made in the kitchen", meaning you really have to watch your diet. Cut out processed sugar, pop, etc. I just haven't been able to make that leap yet.
  • I agree with everyone, just have fun! My advice is don't worry about every body part right away. I try to just get my feet doing the right steps with a new song, then when I've got that I try to get my arms too. People are having way too much fun to worry if you miss a few moves. Honestly I am relieved when I see someone…

  • If you really like Chalean, try TurboJam. It is so fun and she has 2 girls who do all the moves low-impact (no jumping), and those girls are sweating hard! You can get TurboJam 5 Rockin' workouts on Amazon for about $20 used and $30 new. I have it and it has an intro how to do the moves, 20 min workout and 45 min workout.…
  • Okay, I'm laughing cause this is me too! I just figured it's cause I'm a 30-something year-old white girl who grew up on country music:) Kinda figured this move came out after I was married and out of the bar scene!
  • I just started today with bands. Wish I could get all the different weights, seems like it'd work better. Does anyone have any idea of the calories burned in the strength training? I do not have a heart rate monitor and am not getting one, just curious for a ballpark idea. Strength training under cardio comes up with about…
  • Love mine. We also make great paninis on it. My favorite is good white bakery bread, thin apple slices, deli ham and shredded cheddar (just make sure to put cheese on the top and bottom, I had to learn this the hard way!). I spray the bread with cooking spray instead of using butter. You can make a lot of good sandwiches…
  • Another vote for 30 Day Shred. Also love Jackie Warner Extreme Timesaver - 30 minutes cardio and strength ($10 at walmart). You can go on Amazon and get some Turbo Jam DVD's for around $20-$30. I have one with 5 workouts- a beginner get-the-moves lesson, a 20 min cardio, 45 min cardio, abs, and toning. I got super lucky…
