I log all my food the night before. This is the only way I have had success. I only get 1370 calories on my no-workout days, so you can use that up pretty quick and be left with nothing for supper! I can always change it, but it helps me to know if I eat ____ right now, what am I giving up later? I also try to do snacks…

I always do this! I had a salad recipie once that used it and have done it on regular salads ever since. It is really good on wraps too, instead of mayo.

Very interesting thread. As a teacher, I took a class on povery a few years ago and it was very eye-opening. One thing I remember was about food. People in povery ask "Did you get enough to eat? People in middle class say, "Did it taste good?" The wealthy say, "Did it look good?" Since all of us here have internet access I…

I think oatmeal tastes better when made on the stove, not a big fan of nuking it. It's a texture thing, but takes longer. I like cinnamon, a spoonful of real sugar, and a little nutmeg. With the cinnamon and nutmeg, you don't need much sugar, so I just use real.

Do you have stairs where you live? You could run up and down a few times and add that to a routine. I think you can find some free aerobics videos, etc. on the internet too. I'm sure someone on here would know a great site or google it.

Those flat-out flat wraps are the best find ever. We like to use plain old deli turkey or ham, any veggies we have and broccoli slaw. Then any light salad dressing, I like Italian cause it has a lot of flavor for a little bit of it. The broccoli slaw is really good filler, just something a little different than the…

Try the low-fat plain yogurt. I tried it for Christmas dinner and people who hate "diet food" asked me how I made them because they were so good. I think it was like 14 potatoes, 2 Tbsp. butter and 2 small cartons of plain yogurt. Very amazing.

I had the same deal with my husband. He lost 25 lbs with me when we both started this 2 years ago but slipped back to old habits lately. Heart disease is a huge problem in his family and me nagging didn't help. A few weeks ago I asked him to please tell me all about our finances, investments, etc, (he's a banker and I get…

Us moms worry about the time it takes away from our families, but think of it in terms of the years you are adding to your life expectancy by being more healthy. I think your kids can make it with an hour less of mommy each day if mommy will live __ years longer to help out with the grandkids!

Family Favorite Cheeseburger Pasta - from Heathy Cooking magazine 1 1/2 cups uncooked whole wheat penne pasta 3/4 lb. beef 2 Tbsp. finely chopped onion 1 can diced tomatoes 2 Tbsp. pickle relish 2 Tbsp. mustard 2 Tbsp. ketchup 1 tsp steak seasoning 1/4 tsp. seasoned salt 3/4 cup reduced-fat shredded cheddar Cook pasta. There are some great cookbooks and cooking magazines that have wonderful recipies for everyone's favorites, just healthier. I still make all the food we've always loved, I just make the lighter version now. We usually cannot tell any difference. People that come over are surprised when I tell them it's a light version. My…

Preplan your meals and log things in the night before you eat them. This also helps if you are an early morning exerciser - if you skip it, what are you not going to eat that day?!

My "cheats" have changed. I used to get the quarter pounder value meal at McDonald's. Now if I have that fast food craving I get a hamburger and small fries. It's the same taste, just half the portion. I also don't buy any junk that I love that will sit in my house. That way if I have my usual ice cream craving, I have to…

My holiday strategy is always to take a little bit of everything I really want. My husband decides on a few foods he really wants and eats normal portions of just those things. Like he doesn't really care about bread or potatoes, so he skips those. Also I do not allow myself any seconds; I can only eat what fits on my…

I have pants from Eddie Bauer in three different sizes and they all fit the same. That little size tag is meaningless.

If you really love your mom's recipie, try substituting some plain applesauce for some of the oil. You can usually do at least half and sometimes all of it without noticing any difference. This alone will really help with the calories. Also if it takes a lot of eggs, try cutting one out - usually doesn't make a difference…

Double Stroller - this is your friend. I didn't have the fancy jogging one, but took my boys (my oldest was 3 when brother came along) and pushed them for a very long walk sometime during my day. The baby slept a lot of it. Plus the walk is entertaining for the kids too. I even bundled them up on chillier days. We walked…

One day you will even forget to eat your low-cal ice cream as your daily treat and that feels really good too!

Before I eat something I know I shouldn't, I ask myself "One week from now will I care if I ate this or not? Will I care if I lost a pound or not?" I also use "Is this worth my pants staying tight?"

Sounds delicious. I am getting the ingredients today!

Have someone take a picture of you. I didn't realize what a difference my weight loss made on how I looked until I saw some photos. I actually didn't even recognize myself for a second. I still remember saying to my husband, "Is that what I really look like now?!" He thought I was crazy.

I went and figured it - it's 45 calories per serving. probably worth every one! Thanks!

Now, if anyone has a good low-cal cream cheese frosting recipe that would be great!

vhuber - yes just use the pumpkin, eggs and water but bake according to box directions. I also followed the directions for how long to beat the ingredients. My box said to bake cupcakes at 350 degrees for 17-23 minutes. Enjoy!

I cut potatoes into 8 wedges, put them in a baggie with just a little EVOO and some various seasonings, shake, place on cookie sheet and bake. My kids love these too. I just have to make sure I only eat my 8 wedges, it's easy to eat a few potatoes this way!

Does your daughter have some other friends in her grade? Most often bullies succeed because by-standers are afraid to do anything. If you could maybe arrange some "playdates" or after school activities with your daughter and some other girls, perhaps they could band together on the playground. This has several advantages -…

I am just going to make my 2nd bucket full of margaritas! Has anyone tried diet ginger ale? How does it taste? That would make the margaritas like no calories.

We have 2 scales and the cheap old one is way more consistant, although we always have to mentally add 3 to the weight. Our new one works fine for weeks, then suddenly shows you've lost 8-10 lbs for a week. It sure was exciting to see I weighed 123 lbs! Right now we have to add 4 to the weight it reads. I find with 2…

Just wanted to add my recommendation for buying a new seat. You will be amazed at how much better it is. Get something with gel. The padded shorts are great too. I have a pair for mountain biking and you can't even tell; well I guess I can!
