Let me see if I have this correct... The cavemen died of a conspiracy because God, who happens to be posting in this thread, made them eat the Paleo diet. I'm so confused!

This what some of the folks around here call "Bro-Science." The fact is if you eat fewer calories than you burn you will lose weight. Yes, rice cakes have a high glycemic index but the blood sugar spike will be relative to the amount of other foods that your body is digesting at the same time. Yes, carbs convert to sugar…

Dude! If you'd read the latest BroScience, you'd know that this will never work! You're gonna end up above 1200 calories!

We have a rule at our house: If you're working so am I and if I'm working you better be too. So she doesn't care because if she starts a workout, I join in and we do it togeather. (She borrowed some kind of "pole dancing excercise" DVD from a friend once... Suddenly I was working late... ALOT.)

I research and set up my programs to achieve certain goals and then I may change my program based on a new goal. For example, my current goal is to lose 10 lbs. and I am on a program that is cardio/HIIT intensive with some weight training in to try and maintain muscle. After I achieve that, I want to work on gaining some…

Does MFP have a calorie count for them? I gotta make sure I'm logging everything!

Really? Did you ask him if he would rather have the cash or the life that is now gone? Money is nice... I'll take family.

^^ This! One Million times. If you want it, do the work. Nothing worth having is easy!

I was asked me the hardest question I have ever been asked, "Do you think that you are the husband and father your family deserves?" When I took an honest inventory; one of the things I realized was that my physical health was one of the areas where I was not giving them my best. My wife deserves a to have the man she…

I'm curious about this statment on muscle growth. If 6 - 15 is Hypertrophy, are you saying that 1 - 5 is Hyperplasia/Hypergenesis? Op... It sounds like what you want is a "cutting cycle" for your calves. I'm not sure you can do this for just one muscle group but rather you have to work on ways to shift your entire BMI.

I got started becasue tracking calories and nutrients in other ways is a real pain in the *kitten*!!! Talk to him about switching goals to something fitness related and let the weight loss be secondary. Would he get excited about running a 5k or a 10k? Would the ability to bench 200 lbs and squat 300 lbs apeal to him? More…

This is a great day for a long slow distance run! Relax, enjoy the run and let your body dictate the pace. These runs are a good time work on running form and build muscle memory. Add in extra water and stretching afterward and your legs may feel better then if you had skipped the run.

You can't be stopped because your will is greater than the task ahead of you. You have the strength to break through that wall! Give 'em hell!

My personal preference isn't brand but rather material design. I tend to sweat... ALOT. So, I like shirts and shorts that dry quickly and pull moisture away from by body. I have had luck with both Under Armor and Nike for these kinds of materials but other manufactures offer similar products. In socks, I look for the same…

We'd be happy to have you and, as long as you ask at the appropriate time, we are more than happy to help you out. I don’t know anyone who isn’t willing to offer some advice if asked. After all, we all started somewhere. So, get in there. Those weights won’t lift themselves!

I'm curious so, I'll ask. How did they study define Obese? Was it weight or body fat percentage? They are very diffrent things...

Honestly what you are experiencing sounds like what most endurance athletes call a "Bonk." It generally caused by low blood sugar and not low protein. A sports drink or another other "quick carb" before you work out. You're body is actively burning sugars during arobic excercise and skipping lunch may be causing you to…

The Harris-Benedict Equation says that you should need 1965 calories a day to maintain 190 lbs. and quick math says you are consuming 1600 cals. So, you have it right! These are my suggestions: - Keep an eye on your excercise calories. You may have to eat back some of them to keep yourself above the 1200 calorie a day…
