  • At this point just keep on running. That's the best thing of being a running newbie, just by running on a regular basis you will increase your speed without even trying to. If your already strength training as well, even better. Keep up the great work!
  • Did my first one last year, you definitely want to make sure your conditioning is up to par and also need good upper body strength. I made the mistake of not worrying about the 10 miles as I had already completed 3 half marathons and was training for my full. What I didn't expect was that the 10 miles would be hiking up…
  • I do about half my runs on the treadmill in the winter (New England) and I get bored very quickly as well. What I have been doing lately is watching Netflix on my iPad, Ive been able to binge watch shows and not feel guilty about it! Another thing I have recently been doing is there is an app for the iPad where you…
  • Garmin is set to release a fitness tracker wristband (Vivofit) that is water resistant to 50 meters, not positive, but I think you can shower and swim with it, but I could be wrong. I am patiently waiting on the Amiigo, I got in on the crowdfunding campaign last January and looking like it'll be released in a month or 2.…
  • If you can, I would find a way to get up earlier in the AM. If you put if off until the afternoon with your hectic schedule it would be tough to get in every day for 60 days. I have a 9 month old and a 2.5 year old, so I usually get up at 4am to get in my workout before we all start our day. Good Luck!
  • I love how people love to hate on Treadmills. Yes, I would much rather run out side, but if the weather is horrible, why risk it. I ran over 1200 miles last year with about 300 of them on the treadmill. If it wasn't for the treadmill, I probably wouldn't have been able to get those miles. I have 2 little kids, so many of…
  • Got day 2 in, almost had to put it off as I didn't set my alarm, but thankfully my 9 month old is a back up alarm!
  • Just restarted Insanity this morning. My last attempt only lasted 2 weeks when got struck with the flu. Running a marathon in early May so I am hoping to completely get though 1 full month of Insanity, before I have to ramp running miles.
  • I have started using the shakes twice a day, but only as a replacement for morning and afternoon snacks. Hoping this will tame my hunger a bit between meals.
  • I agree with the others that have said jump into a full schedule basically where your half left off (prior to the tapering, ofcourse). Having just completed my first marathon, let me give you one piece of advice, continue with weight training and if you haven't, start. I stopped weight training almost entirely for about 3…
  • 20 miles so far, in 2 weeks barring any injuries it will be 26.2!
  • Like most people are saying, listen to your body. I do recommend doing no more than 2 speed workouts in a week, any more than that and you will hurt yourself. Keep most of your runs at a comfortable pace and if you do they typical weekend long run, make that run much slower than your normal pace. Your body would benefit…
  • First off, slow down, you will be more comfortable at a 12 min miles than 11. When your trying to build distance do not worry about speed, the speed will gradually increase as you become more efficient at running. As for the mental challenge, I would suggest wearing headphones and put in your favorite upbeat music, or if…
  • Im on day 15, and just completed my 2nd fit test! Major improvements in 6 exercises and exactly the same in the other 2. Good luck with it, I think it'll be well worth it!
  • Hello, My name is Lee and I am on week 2 day 2 of Insanity, so far, so good, enjoying the workouts and looking forward to seeing changes! I do have a question, In addition to Insanity I also run upto 30 miles per week, and workout with a trainer 1 day per week. This is what my routine is, please let me know if I am…
