I remember a couple of things that finally clinched things for me (after being over 100 lbs. overweight for at least the previous 15 years -- and as someone who has always struggled with my weight).* I had to ask for the seatbelt extender on an airplane. That is such a humiliating experience. * A cousin of mine who had…

Good going, @HappyTrails7 It is so great to have an indoor exercise Plan B for days when heading outdoors isn't practical/possible. I just finished the last part of today's workout on the treadmill because the road outside is one part mud and one part ice -- slippery and messy!

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. I really appreciate it. Have an amazing day -- and remember to be kind to yourself. That is key to this journey, too -- self-compassion. It's so easy to beat yourself up as opposed to treating yourself with the kindness you would extend to a friend who is struggling. Be that kind of…

I managed to get in my 10,000 steps on a busy day when I had to travel between two cities and participate in five business meetings. I broke it down into three shorter walks because that was easier to fit into my day. It was a frustrating day in many ways (hey, some days at work are like that, right?) but the walks really…

Thanks for the warm welcome. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. BRaye325, I'm going to take your advice and start a discussion thread on something I am pretty passionate about -- making weight loss changes that are sustainable.

I'm here at the invitation of BBee5064, too. I'm 51, married, and have four kids (26, 25, 23, 17). I joined MFP in January 2013. At that point, I weighed 286 lbs. I reached my goal of losing 132 lbs. in January 2015 and have been maintaining my weight since that time. I wrote a story about my weight loss for this Canadian…

I gave away my clothes (charity, friends) as I shrank (size 26/28 to size 12/14). And, recently, I spent a fair bit of money on a decent wardrobe for work, so I don't dare allow myself to gain back any of the weight I lost. (I had always wanted to shop at this particular store in my town -- but I had always been too big --…

I don't make a conscious effort to bank calories for the weekend -- but I do keep an eye on the number of calories I am over/under in any given week (figuring that days when I'm under make up for days when I'm over -- and vice versa). It's kind of the same thing -- but in a less deliberate/planned way.

My Fitbit has helped me to lose a significant amount of weight -- and it is now helping me to maintain that weight loss. It is the best money I ever spent.

My best advice: - Eat in a way that makes the cravings manageable. If you can get the cravings under control, you can make rational decisions about food. - Only make changes that are sustainable over the long-term. (Example: Are you willing to give up a food group for the rest of your life? Probably not. So why would you…

A very inspiring and practical post. Thank you!

This is my personal favourite: Mexican Quinoa Salad. It is soooooo good.

Still not fixed for me, either. Trying to be patient.

I'm having trouble, too -- as of the past few hours (and this after having my Fitbit connected for the past 18 months or so). I think there was a Fitbit app update yesterday (because some of the stuff on my dashboard changed). I'm blaming my problems on that. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting (it's worked for me on…

Look how happy and healthy you look. Total inspiration.....

I don't know how many of you spotted this post on the blogs a few weeks back, but I found it really inspiring. I should make a list like this, too -- a list of all the reasons why going back to my pre-MFP lifestyle and gaining back the weight I've lost is simply no longer an option.... Great discussion, by the way.…

This is such a great post. Thank you for taking the time to write it.

I read that book years ago and found it very helpful/insightful. It is based on data from The National Weight Loss Registry: http://www.nwcr.ws Here is a link to the summary of their research findings (about what strategies have proven successful for people who have managed to maintain a significant weight loss over time):…

I love the idea of time-based rewards. Thanks for suggesting that.

Congratulations on not stopping AND being unstoppable. Great stuff.

What a great story about your neighbour. I have people like that in my life who are motivating me, too. :-) I intend to keep logging my food over the long-term, too. Doing so is key to my success -- and it only takes a couple of minutes each day.

The moment I spotted the headline, I knew this post would be from you. Congratulations on all your success -- and thank you for being such an inspiration to so many of us.

You are such an inspiration to everyone, Kevin. I hope you have some small sense of how truly awesome you are.

I was morbidly obese at this time last year -- and I had almost given up hope of ever losing weight. Then something in my head clicked and I knew it was time to change my life for the better. I started logging my food daily. Then, a few weeks later, I started exercising (only 25 minutes at a time at a very low intensity).…

Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing that. Now I'm going to go do my workout.

You are amazing! It is a joy to watch your progress.

I have decided (finally) that I'm the one in charge of how I feel about myself -- and I feel really good at about 154 lbs. That's what I'm aiming for this time. I'm 5'6". Even now, I'm feeling pretty incredible (at 177 lbs.) Why aim for a weight that's lower and unsustainable for me?
-
That is just incredible. Congratulations on your success.

You are one of the most inspiring people I've met on MFP -- and that's saying a lot. Congratulations on your ongoing success.
