I'm super low-maintenance (ie not very girly) and I have long (mid-back), thick hair with longish bangs. The only way I can manage my hair during a run or workout is 2 french braid pigtails starting high and up towards the front to catch the bangs. Anything else falls out and I have hair hanging in my face for the rest of…

This is excellent advice! I know you said you've been to your doc for tests, but please make sure they've done all of what was suggested above. It's worth it for peace of mind alone! I used to get super-lightheaded on occasion, especially during heavy workouts where I even completely passed out a few times at the gym. I…

I made veggie pizza for dinner tonight. Whole wheat pizza crust with a little olive oil and garlic brushed on, tomatoes, basil, spinach, bell peppers, mozzarella cheese. 238 calories per slice. 1/8 of a 14" pizza.

Pilates has done a great job of firming up my baby gut...I can still blame it on my kid if he's 18, can't I?

I would say do your best on the 5K and start back with C25K on Wednesday. Don't worry about the C25K schedule during the race, just have fun with it and run your heart out. Adrenaline will probably push you harder than any amount of planning. And definitely stick with C25K afterwards; I finished it a few months ago and…

This! I HATE when people say that!

I agree, just record the new weight as a loss and go with it. :)

This one made me LOL too! Congrats on finishing your half and coming in so far under your goal time. You should be super-proud of yourself!

Welcome! No doubt you'll love it here! Feel free to add me if you're looking for friends.

OK...our WODs are always so long, I can never remember them to post them here. Clearly my gym does things differently...I don't know if that's good or bad. Today was leg day; our first burpee-free WOD. Here's what I remember of it: Warm up 150 jump rope, 20 air squats, 20 side lunge, 100 arm circles. 200 Tabata squats. 50…

That's a great idea. I wasn't able to make it to the gym today so I ran instead, but I definitely could have done this at home. And 30 pistols today, even modified, you're my hero! I tried to do even a couple the other day and it just wasn't happening!

I also use Runkeeper and love it. As for your wants: 1. I think it's not terrible on your battery. I frequently run at the end of the day when my battery has already started to run down. I use Runkeeper with Pandora in the background and I've never had the phone's battery die on me mid-run or anything. 2. Runkeeper will…

I just started CrossFit about a week ago. Based on my heart rate monitor, I burn 550-650 for a 60-70 minute workout. I'm 5'1" and 153 lbs. Without a HRM to estimate your calorie burn, you might want to log it as calisthenics or circuit training?

Hey guys...so glad to find this group. Here's my intro: Name: Maite Where you live: Miami, FL Time CrossFitting: 1 week Nutrition Plan: No real plan, just trying to eat clean, log religiously on MFP, and limit junk but not completely eliminate anything. So, I just started CrossFit and I'm seriously loving it--can I say…

OK, weekends too!

LOL...yeah, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only!

I'm proud of you too! Today and every other day! Edit: BTW, definitely an NSV!

Definitely just do day 3! The W5D3 20-minute run was the biggest hurdle of C25K for me too. But really, it's almost all mental, and once you get past it, it's the best feeling! At least try it and if afterwards you feel like you need to repeat it before moving on, decide then. You can totally do this! Good luck!

I've been using Runkeeper for a couple of months now, and I really like it. I especially like the "coaching" function. When I was doing C25K, I set it to prompt me when to change from running to walking, etc. Now that I'm running (slightly) longer distances, I love that I can use it to map out a route beforehand so I'm…

Th number of ingredients is fairly average, but it's all pretty standard stuff. Nothing uncommon that you would have a hard time finding in the grocery store. I think if you pull the book up on Amazon.com, you can click on the photo of the book and use their "look inside" feature to get a glimpse at some of the recipes in…

On the suggestion of a friend, I got Better Homes & Gardens Eat Well Lose Weight a couple of months ago. So far, everything I've made from it has been simple and delicious. It also has calorie/nutrition info for each recipe.…

I use Runkeeper and I love it for mapping out my runs and keeping track of my pace, etc. But I don't find the calorie burn estimate on Runkeeper to be very accurate. I use a Heart Rate Monitor and the Runkeeper numbers are usually much lower than my HRM numbers. If I recall correctly, there's not any way to enter weight,…

Whenever it is, Happy Nurse's Day! As someone who has spent A LOT of time in hospitals and doctor's offices this past year, I can honestly say that nurses deserve far more credit and appreciation than we tend to give them. So, to all the dedicated nurses out there: thank you, thank you, thank you for all your hard work!…

A while back, I was at my doctor for a check-up and when I stepped on the scale, I weighed 178 lbs. The nurse seemed to think that was too much, so she made me get off the scale and then step back on. When the scale still read the same weight, she asked me if I had anything heavy in my pockets . I said I did not, and…

Yup! This song set an all new musical low. My son & nephew made me watch the video and about a dozen parodies repeatedly a couple of weeks ago just before I set off on a 4 hour drive. As much as I hated it, that crap was stuck in my head the ENTIRE trip! I could have killed them!

Some races don't allow headphones? That's terrible! I'm running my first 5k Thursday and I didn't even think of that. I have never run without music or an audiobook to keep my mind occupied. I need to look into my race now to see if they allow them or not. *fingers crossed*

Great losses you guys! And caitlinsmum congrats on reaching a "healthy" BMI! I lost 10.4 lbs on the Lenten Scale Diet, and that moved me out of the "obese" BMI into "over" category. I just looked at my goals, and I see that even once I reach my target weight of 135 (still far, far away :grumble:), I'll still be "over" so,…
