I'm new to ETF. I had to take a break from logging but am planning to start back up next week. My first step will be to try to find my maintenance/TDEE level. I'm feeling very uneasy about this process, but I know that restriction only leads to bingeing, and I am so tired of that cycle.

Low carb, high fat is working well for me. I don't feel deprived, which prevents binges. Always satisfied and pleased with my energy levels, too.

Forgot to check in last night. Busy getting ready to get out of town for a few days. April 2013 4/17/13 Poppy : 16 the binge: 1 The trick will be staying relatively on target while out of town. Not worried about bingeing so much as general overeating (and drinking)....

SO FREAKING AWESOME!!! And that is a HUGE victory, not a small one! So happy for you!

Look at you! Fantastic!

Oops--I replied to your post in the other thread. Didn't see that you had posted here.

Honestly, I think the best thing you can do is just forgive yourself and move on, making the next day a regular day. Maybe plan ahead about what you might do if you feel the binge buzz again. But don't punish yourself--you don't deserve punishment. And too much calorie restriction is more likely to trigger a new binge,…

Honestly, I think the best thing you can do to truly move forward is to acknowledge that this is a problem for you, forgive yourself, and move forward without restricting calories the next day. Otherwise, it's more likely to become a self-reinforcing circle--restrict, binge, restrict, binge. And accompanied by the feeling…

I'm a bit confused, as I think I see TWO Part Twos.... Anyhoodle.... April 2013 4/16/13 Poppy: 15 the binge: 1 Gonna go ahead and call it a binge free day, even though I'll probably still be up for a couple of hours. Good shrinkage (therapy, not actual shrinking!) and was reminded to look at how far I've come in my battle…

But you DID win! Pat yourself on the back!

Well done! Enjoy the sleep of a strong fighter!

How are you doing now?

Hang in there! Been there, of course. It seems that emotions are behind this desire to binge, so I'd just recommend that you sit with the hard feelings and let yourself feel what you feel. It's possible that you want to binge because it will soothe whatever anxiety you're feeling. If you binge, you will still have those…

April 2013 4/15/13 Poppy: 14 the binge: 1 Some less than fantastic choices, and no exercise because of my stoopid hip (which is better but still painful). Barely under calorie goal, and felt a bit bingey after work but reined it in. Wonder what it is with Mondays making me feel bingey this week and last?

Cheers for good choices!

Congrats on, well, everything!

Your doctor is flat-out WRONG. It's in the new DSM coming out soon: http://www.nepsy.com/articles/leading-stories/dsm-5-to-include-binge-eating-disorder/ If a disorder makes it to the voting stage, as this one finally did, it's for sure legitimate, and it angers me (for you) that she is so ill-informed. There actually is…

Poppy: 14 the binge: 1 Good but lazy day today. Seem to have done something to my left hip cos it's hurting like a mofo.
-
That's a HUGE win for you!

You're in charge here. I have all faith in you!

When I'm really bingeing in that out of control, compulsive way, it's almost never because of environmental triggers. Real binges almost always occur because of emotional triggers. Generally, it's some form of anxiety: fear, general worry, anxiety induced anger, etc. My most recent binge, though, did not seem to have an…

I did this, too (though I was probably not undereating), since my Monday binge, and I have felt much better. Because I'm more physically active than I started off, I recalculated my TDEE and came up with a higher number. I'm just not eating back exercise calories now. It seems easier to shoot for the same number of…

April 2013 4/13/13 Poppy: 12 the binge: 1 Another good day. Ate plenty, stayed under calorie goal, no thoughts of bingeing, got in some exercise, too! Go me!
-
Good job staying honest! Be proud of that!
-
Me, too, on both counts! Thanks!
-
Definitely wins! Yay!
-
Focus on that last part because it is the most important part for you today! You can be in charge!
-
Talk about awesome! Angela, you rock! That's such a major victory! Be proud of that, girl!

April 2013 4/12/13 Poppy: 11 the binge: 1 Pretty good day, several spurts of activity made me a bit hungrier. No serious thoughts of bingeing, which, YAY for that!
