Just my glasses I weigh right before getting in the shower every morning.

My surgery got delayed to yesterday. Are you using lapbandtalk.com?

You should see a physician about scanning your legs. You appear to have a very localized form of edema. If you apply pressure to your calves do they "dent"?

I have the same problem what works for me Use smaller plates Package all leftovers as soon as you've made your plate to avoid that not full feeling Eat Slower (I use chopsticks to help with this) Drink water regularly throughout the day but don't drink during meals or for 30 minutes after to avoid "bad" snacking don't keep…

If your going to weigh yourself daily do it to evaluate what you did the day before and what you'll do different today. You should only compare your weight loss to a month ago. As long as you weigh less than you did 30 days ago you're headed in the right direction.

I'm a Service Coordinator so I have many people on my caseload who struggle with relationships but I can also tell you I have other people on my caseload in lasting healthy relationships, All I can really say is yes if you compare "singleness" in the special needs population it is disproportionate to the average population…

My wife gets horribly annoyed; I don't even have to say anything but as soon as she realizes I'm recording my meals on my phone she acts like I've just delivered a 20 minute monologue on how she should eat better. As a result I usually try to plan and enter meals ahead of time when we eat out or I'll excuse myself to the…

I understand the reason for the pre op diet is to shrink my liver by reducing my fat and complex sugar intake. I'm just interested in whether that means I should be getting less than the 1200. I'm not overly hungry so I don't think I'm in starvation mode but if you check my diary I've been having to add high protein snacks…

So what was your calorie goal?
-
Well then I'll stop worrying about it and just plan my meals to hit the protein goal.

This isn't about not being motivated to get up it's about the portion of my brain that controls sleep responding differently to sunlight it's common among Migraine sufferers but no one knows why yet. I've had plenty of sleep studies and confirmed it's neurological not behavioral. I appreciate your input but I would be more…

My pre-op diet is just diet shakes for breakfast and lunch and a light balanced dinner. So far I've been having 1 shake midday and then a light dinner which is leaving me feeling fine but bringing in just less than 1200 calories so I was going to call my nutritionist to see if that's okay.

I try to get an afternoon workout in but too many things pop up at work or with family, so The later in the day I have something scheduled the more likely it will be postponed. On weekends and holidays I can get morning exercise in no problem and I'll admit I like how it feels for the rest of the day. I'm not concerned…

Thanks for article. I can say I try every one of things already unfortunately. I have been having some success with setting multiple alarms. I have 1 alarm go off playing gentle music 15 minutes before my target "get out of bed" time. A second alarm programmed with a more energetic song starts repeating at my target time…

Hopefully this picture from yesterday will be a before image someday. Pre-Op 2-10-13 by Frederic.graves, on Flickr

I concur.

I need to get to <restaurant> because they've got <delicious but less than healthy food> on special.

I read it and I wish you luck. I'm just in the pre-op diet since my surgery is scheduled for Feb 21st.

I strongly encourage you to spend $10-20 on a rice cooker and start purchasing brown rice in bulk (I mix jasmine rice into my brown rice but that's a personal preference) the money you save on rice will easily pay for the machine and it's much healthier (and cheaper) than pasta. You can also use most rice cookers to jump…

Unfortunately where our bodies store fat is not one size fits all some people store it in their belly first others spread the fat over their bodies and the belly is the last place to get large. Just keep in mind first on is last off. If you've always had a "belly" then it'll be the last place to give up it's fat. Exercises…

My definition of moderation is "less than you usually have but more than nothing" It works for me and the nice thing is if you get in the habit of thinking this way it slowly self adjusts.
-
I've been much more successful with learning moderation versus avoiding things completely. Sometimes that literally means a single spoon of ice cream or half a donut; other times it means very light nutrient focused breakfast and lunch so I can get a big chili dog for dinner.

I weigh every morning and also accept that somedays that means my weight will go up so I only pay attention to the trend of the last 30 days. At least in my case weighing in is very important. When the battery in my scale went dead and I was lazy about replacing it I gained an average of 2lbs a day. Even though I was…

My weight would go up or down by more than pound almost every day especially when I started. It's like the stock market what matters is the long term trend.

I exercise so I can keep doing the things I enjoy doing and I know that as I age my metabolism will continue to slow the more exercise is a part of my routine the easier it will be adjust that routine to compensate (or at least keep me active enough to enjoy life until they develop a cure for aging)

So far today has been cake compared to yesterday. I drank my first shake a little after noon and I'm having my 2nd one now 4 hrs later again only mildly hungry and not expecting to have any problems with a balanced dinner. (I'm thinking Chinese since it will be awhile after surgery before I can have it again).
-
I don't mean to imply there is no benefit, I'm just saying it's not a necessity before starting to exercise as long as you start slowly and focus on building a habit.

The research I've done indicates Lap Band and Bypass have the same success rate but only at the 3 yr mark. Gastric Bypass is much faster weight loss over the first 2 yrs but then there is usually a greater likelihood of gaining weight back before stabilizing whereas lap band generally has slower but more consistent weight…

It sounds like he should probably start with walking and just try increasing his pace and the length of his strides. An HRM won't save you from an arythemia. If he really wants to push the cardio he should get a stress test done first; under a Dr.'s supervision, and then follow a very specific training routine as…

Your question has several pieces with different answers. If you have an iPhone or a newer iPod Nano you do not need a sensor. The GPS version of the app only works on the iPhone. The Nano comes with the app built in and it will track speed, steps, and calories but doesn't "map" where you ran. The sensor is for older iPods…
