Can someone convince me I should eat my liquid breakfast?
So I started the liquid pre-op diet yesterday and I was famished as soon as I drank my breakfast shake I'd not had hunger pangs to rival for years. Finally I had my lunch shake and things were fine for the rest of the day. Today I've decided not to have my first shake until I'm actually hungry. I've gone for a run, cleaned…

Help with morning routine for a night owl
I'm a night owl but I've come to accept that I need to get a morning workout fit into my schedule. I need some advice from someone else who has or had the same kind of circadian rhythm I do. I appreciate people's desire to give encouragement but what I need are strategies that will help me get up at least 2 hrs before my…

Am I the only Guy getting Lap Band?
I'm surfing the discussion groups and I'm used to seeing more woman than men posting on MyFitnessPal in general but I just realized I haven't noticed any other men posting in the lap band group and I'm starting to feel increasingly self conscious about it.

Pre-op diet and diabetes
So I'm diabetic and was wondering if anyone else was reluctant about the "slim-fast" pre-op diet. My instinct is to try for the higher protein lower carb option versions but then again I wonder if it's just pre surgery jitters making me overly cautious.

hunger schedule
So I am fully aware that I will eat fewer calories in a day if I wait until I'm hungry to eat anything (often 2 or 3pm in the afternoon) but as soon as I eat anything (it could be three almonds or a full breakfast) I will start getting hungry 2 hrs later and continue to get hungry again every 2 hrs on average until I…

Strategies for clean plate syndrome
So this week I've become acutely aware of the fact that I feel compelled to clean my plate. I know it's a childhood behavior but it really does make me act like a human garbage disposal sometimes and no matter how healthy the meal is there are times when afterwards I realize I was satisfied before I stopped eating or I'll…

Help deciding on a target weight
So I just calculated my body fat index and it's coming out at 20%. Which seems to imply I only need to lose another 52 lbs to be at 5% body fat. That's a big difference from the 161lbs the BMI chart says I need to lose. In either case I still have a long way to go but I wish my target didn't seem to keep moving around. Any…

Trying to be half the person you used to be
I'm wondering how many other people have shared my realization that if they were literally cut in half (vertically down the middle) the BMI would still say each half was obese.

wierd Weightloss and belly button question
Has anyone else experienced sensitivity around their bellybutton as they lose weight? As I've lost weight my belly button has become more shallow and now the skin that is exposed is much more tender. Anyone have any suggestions for treatment? It's not painful but it can feel irritated. I'm not sure if I should be trying to…

Alcohol and Metabolism
So after I went to a medical seminar on diabetes, heart disease and hypertension and getting a lot of information about metabolism I decided I needed to include a serving of alcohol in my daily meal plans. After several months I've definitely noticed that with a single drink I lose weight more consistently than if I drink…
