Pre-op diet and diabetes

So I'm diabetic and was wondering if anyone else was reluctant about the "slim-fast" pre-op diet. My instinct is to try for the higher protein lower carb option versions but then again I wonder if it's just pre surgery jitters making me overly cautious.

They would not give you a diet to follow if it was not necessary!! There are good reasons for it & it is safe.0
