And there are two types of running fitness you will need to work on - endurance - which you attain by gradually increasing your time spent running - and strength/speed - which you work on after you have the endurance part tackled - by running hill repeats and sprints. A good training program will include these modalities.…

Definitely see a physio - It sounds like shoulder impingement / impingement syndrome. Basically, the tendon gets pinched in the shoulder joint with overhead or lateral movements... eventually it becomes inflamed and swells which leads to pain. If this is what you have, it may not get better on its own - you'll need…

Hi everyone - no time to catch up on all the posts today - I have a student with me and I have to behave! Did workout B on Friday: Squat 80lbs 5x5 - worked in with a nice young fellow who helped me a bit with my form! OHP: 55 lbs 5x5 - feeling like I'm finally developing some upper body strength!!! Deads 125 lbs 1X5 Not…

I've been MIA for a while - had a week's vacation without any lifting. Am now back into my routine but haven't been organized to post my progress. Kids back to school, planning birthday party, etc. Deloaded again after vacation - and am still working on form. My squats still feel off, but I'm feeling stronger on all my…

THIS is a thing of beauty! Cheers! :drinker: Two small questions - are there plans available for this gorgeous device? And where do you get the pins to rest the bar on (the ones you stick in the holes)? Joanne (edited because my drunk old self was being a bit repetitious!)

Just back from a very boozy food-filled week away at a resort! I gained 4 lbs - we'll call this a bulk! My goals - gym 2 x/week strong lifts Run - 3 times a week - building up to 10 km for my race in November. Cross-training or a third gym visit, if able! Track food and eat at a mild deficit to return to my pre-vacay…

Happy to hear you're so excited! It does feel fantastic, doesn't it!!? Workout A for me today - did everything out of order. There was this gorgeous couple of strong folks tying up the squat rack for 45 minutes - a boy/girl couple using most excellent form - I probably looked like a crazy stalker woman I was watching them…

Woo hoo! Great victory! I did workout B last night - Squats 70 lbs - 5x5. Added 5 lbs. ::::Slowly::::: figuring out my form. Felt a bit better tonight. Glutes still weak. This is gonna take forever. OHP 55 lbs -5x5 Felt awesome!! Deads: 125 lbs - getting back up there. Big plates next time? Did some romanian deadlifts,…

Hmm, this is an interesting idea. I am getting back into running and have been doing two days of weights, also. But I have been doing A one day and B the second. Of course, that means I am only doing each exercise (except for squats) once a week - combining them sounds like a good idea! Each workout will take a bit longer,…

Yes, I am the same way. I've been using the T-bar row - I feel like I am better able to work the right muscles using it. It's not ideal because you don't use as many supporting muscles (as you don't need to balance the bar, etc). But for now it feels much more effective (and safer) for me. Joanne

Ha, Dani - your fish picture made me laugh out loud! Workout A tonight Very short on time so didn't do my usual warm up. Squats 65lbs 5x5 - I think I'm finally getting the hang of the bloody thing - still might hang around at this weight for a few more goes (I miss my big plates! But I will be patient....) Bench 70 lbs 5x5…

Two workouts and a run since I last checked in. A on tuesday Squat - 95 lbs 5x5 = a misery. Hard, but not in a good, "rawr" way - as my technique improves, my weak little hammies feel like they are going to collapse, but my strong quads feel nothing at this weight. BOO! Bench 70lbs 5x5 - booyah, starting to finally feel…

My turn - my last workout was on Sunday Squat 100 lbs 5x5. I still think my form needs work! When I try to correct one thing, another goes wonky! OHP 50 lbs. Felt strong. Did that hip thrust thingy - felt ok, if not a bit silly. Still not ready to progress. Deads 115 lbs 1x5. Felt difficult, but managed ok with some wonky…

Helloooo Strong Ladies! :flowerforyou: I haven't been posting much - summer vacation (and all it entails) has been kicking my butt in the consistency department. I have still been lifting - but only 2 times a week with any regularity. Not progressing much as a result. August goals: Get my butt to the gym and lift the…

LOL - I was at 45 lbs for weeks and weeks. Just recently bumped it up and imagine it will be weeks and weeks again until I am able to progress further. But I'm ok with it - Slow progress is still progress! jg

Take care of yourself. I hope you're feeling better soon!

Sounds like a great way to end your day! I got in a partial workout in 20 minutes, yesterday Squats 100 lbs OHP 50 lbs - felt strong! Some bent leg raises and planks to finish off Will be off camping in a few days - will try to get one more good gym workout before I go. So looking forward to getting away! Keep up the good…

@Kirabob and @cleotherio Thanks for the tip! I have started doing glute bridges (hip thrusts?) in my past few sessions (un-weighted for now) - I can certainly see how they will help. I found a few other exercises on-line today that I am going to add in as well. Hoping that not only will my squats improve but I will also…

Workout A last night. Squats 5x5 - kept at 95 lbs. Form is much better since the de-load. Still surprisingly difficult! Bench - 5/5/5/5/4 70 lbs. Not progressing - but I haven't been getting out enough, so not surprising. Had to roll out from under my last rep. Boy, that certainly gets you some attention! Row - had to use…

Hi ladies, This thread moves fast!! You guys are all awesome and amazing! I bit the bullet and de-loaded my squats from 145 to 95 lbs and made sure I went ATG. Well, well - obviously that was the right thing to do because it was hella hard and the next couple of days I had some muscle soreness in my hams/glutes. Will build…

I have been rotten and lazy (and busy socializing) and have not been on top of things at all! Last visit to the gym was nearly a week ago. Workout A: Squat 145 lbs 5x5 Bench 70 lb 5/5/5/5/3 Row 70 lb 5x5 - used the pre-loaded bar - which is shorter - my form is so much better with this than with the barbell. I am really…

July Goals: Continue to progress at a comfortable pace with my lifts. I am 10 lbs from squatting my body weight - so it would be nice if I could manage that - but I want my form to improve first. Back to the pool if my shoulder allows it. Plus continue to fit in a couple of runs a week. 8 hours of sleep a night - this will…

Didn't make it to the gym 3 x a week, every week - but I have been getting there twice, at a minimum I have been running on average once a week - need to get back in the pool, but my shoulder is acting up so it will need to wait a bit. I did get some fractionals and because of them was able to progress on a couple of…

@daisybee Congrats on the 'arm dents'! I have 'leg dents' now (V's above my knees) and am very proud of them! Workout B, yesterday Squat 145 5x5 OHP 45 6x5 - I will progress if it kills me! Deads 140 lbs 1x5 Back and hip flexors a bit tender today. I think my squat form is crap. I do great at the warm up weights, but when…
