  • I use my running shoes too, though I know they're not ideal as they're only designed for forwards and backwards support, not side to side.
  • Yep, horror stories like that! Ah well, going back to month 1 is always an option for me too. I'll see how I handle it next week! Shaun T is amazing! If I can handle month 2 I might try another one of his programs next.
  • Working through the Insanity recovery week. Weight is still going down (5lbs so far from Day 1) and I'm feeling a little slimmer and so much stronger. Dreading Month 2, I've read horror stories!
  • Grazing on those chocolate covered almonds I bought, instead of portioning them. Oh wait I do that even when tracking and have to guess >_< Drinking my calories. My biggest error is portion control. When I don't log I don't measure, and it shows.
  • I'm a SAHM now so I either work out in the am before the toddler wakes up, or during his nap time. If I don't get it done by nap time it doesn't happen. When I was working I'd take my runs after work, but I had to do it straight away... have my clothes ready and never sit down after walking in the door. Once I sit down,…
  • Masochist! ;-) So tell me, how bad are the Insanity month 2 workouts? Should I be worried? Also I'd love to know if you did the program what your results were like.
  • Almost finished week 4 of Insanity, looking forward to Recovery week! Today was Pure Cardio, so much owie! I'm a runner so I originally thought the Cardio wouldn't be too bad. I was wrong, I wasn't ready for the intensity, so crazy.
  • Just found this! Insanity week 4 for me. After reading some of the above comments I'm scared for month 2 in a couple weeks, I'm a Beachbody newbie, I'm finding the workouts hard enough already! Still undecided which program to try next.
  • My Fitbit Charge HR didn't really motivate me like I hoped (also don't get one of those, there seem to be a lot of issues, we've had 3 fail in 2 years). However my MIL found it motivated her so much she now walks 10 miles a day up from being sedentary! She gets added motivation from challenge groups within the app, and has…
  • It hurts, haha. I'm really enjoying it so far, never been so determined to stick to a program, but I didn't realise when I started that it's one of the more advanced programs Beachbody does. Hopefully it will be worth it!
  • Still doing this? I'm on Day 8 of Insanity :-D
  • Nice going! Any tips?
  • Are any of you still working at this? I'm on Day 4, so a newbie to the program, and I've never completed anything like this before. It's kicking my butt but I'm excited to see results! My nutrition isn't spot on yet but not far off, and I've even got the hubby doing it with me.
  • Has the weather been hotter for you this week? Factors such as the weather can make a big difference to your speed and perceived effort. If you're running in heat/humidity, expect your runs to be slower and more difficult. It doesn't mean you're less fit, just that your body has to work harder to deal with the…
  • I ran it in old road running shoes, threw them out after. No regrets. There was SO much mud, the grip didn't make much difference for me. I also bought cheap workout gloves. They may have saved me some scrapes and blisters, but they ended up full of grit and mud and were just really uncomfortable. I'd skip them next time.…
  • Funny to stumble across this, I looked this up today as a stroller runner. I don't know how different the calorie burn is for walking, but for running this study found that the energy used varies from an additional 5-8% depending on the method of pushing. Check out the link for more details, and for a stroller calorie…
  • I don't have any advice, just wanted to say I ran WDW a couple years ago, AMAZING! You are going to have a blast!! I wasn't intentionally trying to lose weight, but I did actually drop to my lowest weight that January despite my food not being ideal, and I'm not someone who loses weight easily. Just wanted to show that…
  • Absolutely outside. But I have my baby with me now so when the weather is questionable, or I don't want the extra stroller challenge, I use the treadmill while he's in their daycare. To make the dreadmill bearable I like the machines that actually show you a route through the countryside/city, and I have music on and the…
  • I noticed this too. I assume it's because it reads your exercise but your wrist isn't moving up and down like in a run. My fitbit is a ChargeHR so I figure it measures my calories burned based on my heart rate, but I don't know. I don't use it as a calorie tracker so I never paid much attention. I certainly wouldn't rely…
  • I've started building my base for NYC in November. My actual plan doesn't start until June some time. Through the Summer months I'm probably going to have to get most of my week runs knocked out really early before my husband leaves for work so I can leave the baby with him, this has the added bonus of missing the really…
  • I got a place through the lottery in the NYC marathon in November. I have plenty of time to train but I was starting from scratch after having my baby so right now I'm building my base and readjusting to running. I'm super psyched and would love to hear from people that have run NYC before! I need to find some shorter…
  • Age: 31, FTM, due Jan 21st with a boy! Height: 5'3 Pre-pregnancy weight: 146lbs Week 8: 146 (+0) Week 13:146 (+0) Week 16: 148 (+2) Week 20: 153 (+5) Week 24: 160 (+7, eeps) Week 27: 161 (+1) Total so far: 15lbs I was at my heaviest when I got pregnant after letting myself go after marathon training, oops. I managed to…
  • The jumping up and down should be fine, especially at this stage. Ab exercises are usually ok in the first trimester, but after that you're supposed to avoid being flat on your back (so no crunches etc). Other than that you should be fine, if you feel like you shouldn't be doing something then modify the exercise to…
  • More love here for the Under Armor compression shorts, I have Medium pairs in different lengths, love them both. They never move, and I don't get the chafing issue I get with other shorts (and I've tried many different brands).
  • Lacking runners... now I just feel offended ;-) But I can confirm for everyone else, Ben is indeed a supportive and active friend, I recommend him!
  • My Doctor is really easygoing, he said I can do pretty much whatever I already was, but no sparring in martial arts, and keep my HR below 140. I'm also wary of not letting myself get too hot, and drinking lots of water. Now I need to focus on getting my calories from better sources!
  • Hi guys and congratulations! I'm due Jan 21st with my first, very excited! Unfortunately I was at my biggest when I got pregnant (ran my first marathon in Jan and took too much down time afterwards while still eating the same!) and I'm disappointed I can't lose any now, but I'm planning on keeping the weight gain to a…
  • Less than a month to go now! I already printed out my waiver and found my corral, which I'm happy enough with, I got tickets for the Pasta in the Park party, transport is booked, costume is ordered and my training should get me to the finish line. Is everyone else nearly ready?
  • I do my strength training before, if I'm doing both on the same day. But if I do a decent weight workout I have to accept that my run won't be as strong so I prefer to do them on different days.
  • Good luck on your second half! I have completed 3 so far, 6 months apart. I learned from both of the first two. My training wasn't great for any of them (less mileage than you) but it did improve each time and I got a PR each time too. 1. My first half was 2:13, my second was 2:07. Third was 2:01. So close! 2. I'm not an…
