use skim milk to replace some of the creamer. Switch to sugar free instead of fat free. Also, are you actually weighing/measuring the creamer? A friend IRL noticed how much creamer I was using via my MFP diary and she pointed out how much more I could eat if I cut back on the creamer. I started weighing it and slowly…

Since the recall of Chobani last year and the serious case of c.diff my best friend suffered at the hands of the recalled Chobani, and the company's lack of response or concern for those they made ill with their contaminated yogurt, I no longer purchase Chobani. It's all Greek yogurt. I buy a different brand now.

You haven't used your Fitbit long enough to really gather good data from it. You need to wear it for a few weeks and then look at the graphs & stats to get a better idea about your daily averages. Use one of the many online BMR/TDEE calculators to estimate those numbers for you, then after a few more weeks using your…

I love love love my Fitbit One. Best money I've spent on a gadget.

I have a friend who's at 900+ days. She's so inspiring!

My solution for wanting to mindlessly eat at night? I go to bed. =)

Thank you! Yes my son a few weeks (probably a month ago) got an ANA episode... first one ever... to a piece of a cashew... he got kissed on the cheek by someone who had been drinking a proteing shake (which labeled May contain traces of tree nuts (pecans), peanuts).. What symptoms do you wait for in order to administer the…

The relation between peanuts and other allergies is really a new area being explored. Some is linked to OAS, which causes a reaction that SEEMS like ANA, but is not truly ANA. BUT---OAS can turn into a true allergic ANA reaction, so you have to be careful.
-
Actually, no. The ONLY trusted method of determining allergy is surviving an ANA reaction. Children younger than 5 do not have reliable results from SPT or Blood draw. Allergists have to take a careful family history and listen to what the parents have to say to determine if certain things are or might be allergy. To the…

This. Do you have a bad back-a diagnosis of herniations or spinal stenosis or other such thing? If you don't have a dx, you might just need to strengthen that back as suggested above.

First--is your hypothyroidism controlled with meds? Start there. Second-are you exercising/weight training? Third-Are you logging every single bite that you have weighed before eating? If those 3 things aren't settled, fix them first. Then look at tweaking your eating. Look up on MFP--"Eat More 2 Weigh Less" as a good…

Check out the EM2WL (eat more to weigh less) group here on MFP. With a thyroid issue, it is likely you might need to feed your metabolism to get it going again. I have been on Armour Thyroid for 15+ years. I have been on an SSRI for 3 years. They are not the cause of my weight gain, nor are they the reason that I…

I absolutely LOVE reading your updates. You are inspiring and well-spoken. Keep up the good work!

Yes, you can get one out and one in on the same visit. My Mirena has had little to do with my weight. It's all about shoving too much food in my pie hole---NOT a device in my uterus.

This will sound mean, but just don't buy snacks for the "kids" if you are going to eat them. They really don't need the junk and if you don't buy it you won't eat it. If you do eat it, log it and move on.

My morning cupS of joe are the best part of my day. Why "punish" yourself? Just figure out how to make your coffee + creamer + milk or whatever fit your macros. (IIFYM) I kicked the artificial sweetener in my coffee. Now I'm just down to milk and some vanilla creamer. yummmmm. Drinking coffee keeps me SANE.

I don't believe there is a direct correlation to cholecystectomy. and weight gain. Generally, people who have had their gallbladder removed have some trouble digesting fats and very fatty food (initially). Mine was removed 5 years ago and my weight gain is directly related to me putting too much food in my pie hole.
-
That's probably b/c you have stricter (BETTER!) rules about what can and can't be added to food.
-
There is no such thing as "mild food allergy" Your doctor is doing you no favor by letting you think you're not SEVERELY allergic. Here's a link to the definition of anaphylaxsis--and you should be carrying an Epi-Pen. Two Epi-Pens, actually. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/anaphylaxis/DS00009/DSECTION=symptoms The…

Wings. Wings ONLY! My oldest 2 boys are Brendan and Brett....they were born in Cup years =)

A TRUE food allergy results in symptoms like hives, swelling of the eyes, ears, throat, shortness of breath and then anaphylactic shock sets in and your BP crashes. You cannot have a true food allergy to "Cheese"-it would be dairy as a whole. If it gives you gas or bloating or makes you cranky or something, it's not food…

I made my own entry and call it Boot Camp. I have read that the average calorie burn in a good boot camp workout is 9.8 calories/minute, so I just call my 45 minute boot camp 450 calories. Some days I know I burn more, some days it might be less, but it all evens out.

Fatty liver. Caused by drinking too much alcohol OR too much sugar. http://forecast.diabetes.org/magazine/diabetes-101/the-livers-role-how-it-processes-fats-and-carbs
-
This is true for Splenda, etc. However, sugar alcohols DO impact blood sugars. Sorbitol, Mannitol, Xylitol. These 3 are used as sugar substitutes.

Measure out the creamer and count the cals in your totals for the day. If you're using more than you realize, it really could hinder weightloss.

I've been hypo for 15 years now and I am very anti-Synthroid. I found Synthroid to be not a good match for me and I use the very much old-school Armour Thyroid. My insurance won't even cover it (costs me $22/month OOP), and it's worth it. I gained on Synthroid, it was hard to regulate my levels and it was just an…
