I just turned 44 last week and I've been lifting for about a year and a half. I don't think I'll compete (but you never know!) I do love being strong though! I still have fat to lose but I love the muscle I'm seeing. I probably feel myself up and check myself out more than my husband at this point, lol. Although he does…

I have my own knee wraps (chopat), wrist wraps and even bring my own squat sponge. I do share the sponge with my husband and son if they want to use it but mostly it's just me using it for barbell hip thrusts. I don't share the wraps with anyone, they can get their own! Our gym has a foam roller that looks just nasty and…

When I make dinner I always make enough that I can put an extra portion in my husband's lunch box. I also add trail mix, fruit, sometimes a string cheese and of course an icepack. It works for him but we're in the PNW so it's probably never as hot as it gets in TX! For breakfast he usually has scrambled eggs and/or a green…

I hear you! It's all dependent on what our own bodies can tolerate. Shredded cheese is typically coated with corn starch or potato starch, neither of which I can tolerate so I have to shred my own cheese too. If I am feeling ambitious and don't want it to clump I can toss mine with tapioca starch but usually I'm to lazy to…

Was your almond milk commercial or did you make it at home? Many times commercial almond milk has carrageenan or guar gum in it, both of which are known to cause GI issues in many people. If you can tolerate almonds by themselves then there is no reason you couldn't just add almonds and water to your smoothie and get the…

I remember doing that in Girl Scouts and I taught my kids when we went camping. Gooey sweet deliciousness!

How exactly do you roast low fat yogurt over a campfire?
-
I love mine and it is able to be worn in the pool but I think I read that the HRM doesn't transmit when you're swimming? You could go to the garmin connect forums on the Vivofit2 board and poke around. I'm pretty sure that's where i read it.
-
I have been using my Vivofit for a couple of months and love it! I just have no idea how to find connections on GC. :D I've got two random guys I'm connected with but they both found me. I'm NWGirl on there and would love to be added since everyone I know in real life is using a fitbit.

I actually sync mine using Garmin Connect on my Mac. I'm pretty sure they have an app for PC's too. I have the little ant stick plugged into my usb port so when I hit sync on my Vivo it syncs wirelessly using that. The app on my computer talks to the Garmin website which then talks to MFP. Sometimes I have to tell MFP and…

I made one for my husband tonight that he actually liked (which is magical!) It was a apple, five small carrots (not baby carrots but small regular ones. If they were normal sized carrots I'd probably use two). About half of a lemon (peeled) a 1" piece of fresh ginger and a couple of handfuls of greens (kale, spinach and…

Like everyone else said, it will vary for each person. I went on a low FODMAP elimination diet and am now in the process of gradually testing and adding back in the foods that don't make me miserable. For me, too much dairy, garlic and cauliflower are VERY big triggers but I'm still figuring it all out so I may have more.
-
I'm low FODMAP and slowly introducing foods back in to see what works and what doesn't. So far I know that cauliflower, lentils, beans and garlic are all problematic. :( I don't really have any go to recipes because I just adapt the things we already eat or just skip the foods I can't tolerate but I can tell you that…

Fantastic! So inspiring and congratulations!

I did the low FODMAP's diet several weeks ago to see if I could pinpoint exactly which foods were causing me issues and I have to say, it helped me immensely. I also learned that there are some fruits and vegetables that I can tolerate raw but some I can only tolerate if they're cooked and still others that I just can't…

Exercise helps me immensely but I also have to be careful about things I'm eating. Artificial sweeteners, to much caffeine, to much sugar and/or refined carbs all amp up my anxiety. I do take magnesium (very helpful!) and I take a B vitamin complex but I learned the hard way that I cannot take synthetic B vitamins. I had…

If you do Greek yogurt that is unsweetened you can add a sweetener of your choice (stevia, sugar, splenda, honey, etc). I like it with blueberries, almonds and a little honey. You will have some carbs with this but you can control the amount because you're choosing how much of each thing to put it. I don't know if you have…

We use them in place of regular potatoes and treat them exactly the same. We don't prefer the orange ones, we like the lighter colored white sweet potatoes and sometimes the purple ones (also known as a Japanese yam but it's still actually a sweet potato.) The textures and sweetness vary depending on what color you get so…

I usually have dark chocolate of some sort. It's how I bribe myself to get through my evening workout. :)
-
I have the set and I like it. Some are hard, some are harder and some are REALLY hard! :D It's kind of a fast paced, kickboxing type workout. I just work at my level for whatever DVD I'm using and as you do it more, you get better at it. There are breakdowns on the moves so if you feel like you're lost you can watch the…

Eating foods high in potassium can help a lot. I eat a lot of green things like spinach, bok choy, zucchini and chard. Bananas, sweet potatoes and regular potatoes are also good sources. Hibiscus tea is supposed to help lower BP and beets or beet juice are also supposed to be very good. I know mine is slowly lowering with…
-
Get a home monitor and check it at home. Look into the correct way to do it (seated, quiet for 5-10 minutes, arm at heart level, etc). If you're still reading high then you do need to do something about it. Hibiscus tea and beet root juice are both remedies that have scientific backing as being helpful for lowering your BP…

Kymmu mentioned FODMAPS and it is definitely something to look into if you end up thinking IBS. I have struggled SO badly with bloating and other TMI issues until I finally capitulated and tried the low FODMAPS elimination diet. It was like magic! I'm still working on figuring out which foods are okay for me, which ones I…
-
I have IBS too and cauliflower is a big trigger for bloating for me. I'm also sensitive to garlic and if I have too much milk or milk products I'm bloated. A little bit of bloating isn't abnormal but if you're getting REALLY bloated, especially if you're uncomfortable, then you might want to pay close attention to what…

We're having ham, deviled eggs, a garden salad, cherry pie and a carrot cake. We kind of keep it simple. We're having carrot cake because they all wanted cherry pie but since I'm the cook I'm making the dessert I want. ;)
-
I'm not a big fan of cake, which is ironic since I bake and decorate them! However, I do eat whatever dessert I've decided on for my birthday or my husband or kid's birthdays. If you're going to keep the weight off after you've lost it, you need to be able to enjoy little things like a piece of birthday cake. And maybe a…

I get to go do some weightlifting but when I get home I'm having some dark chocolate with almonds!

Awww... I was going to offer to eat it!

There are a lot of good suggestions here. My local library has many of these titles along with some others. I encourage you to check out your library because then you can try the different DVDs they have and see what you like and is doable for you. Then if you really love one you can buy it without worrying that you're…
