  • I'm a SAHM so during the day is really nice. It's quiet then and I can take my time. However, I usually workout with my husband (otherwise he wouldn't go!) so we go in the evening after he's off work, about 6:30'ish.
  • If I feel well enough to work out and it's not anything in my chest then I do. Right now I have a head cold and plan to work out this evening. However, Saturday it was just starting and I was so tired that I skipped my planned workout to rest. You kind of just have to decide for yourself how you're feeling. There is…
  • I was fortunate enough to have a friend that let me borrow hers before I committed to buying one. I do love mine and use it regularly but it's one of those "your mileage may very" things. I eat A LOT of vegetables and love zucchini noodles with an unholy passion so mine's been worth the purchase. If I die, my husband…
  • Look up Bret Contreras (Strong Curves) He's all about that bass. ;)
  • I had my gall bladder out a number of years ago. I had lost almost 50 pounds and then required the surgery. It was hard to get back on track after but it wasn't because the gall bladder removal did anything to me, it was because I lost my momentum and wasn't focused. Then I had a baby and I really lost momentum! I…
  • What jruzer said. My son's Boy Scout troop trained for their 50 mile hike by frequently loading up their packs and taking hikes regularly. My husband also found it useful to use the stair machine at the gym to help condition his legs but he did that sans pack.
  • I do barbell hip thrusts in the gym all the time. The only two times I was uncomfortable was the first time and the time the old dude draped himself across a machine in front of me, propped his chin on his hand and watched me with a creepy little smile for my entire routine. Other than that, I am so focused on my butt…
  • Add fat or higher fat foods. It's also Girl Scout Cookie season, that should help. :D
  • I bought some men's under armor compression shorts to wear under my uniform when I was doing Taekwondo and they worked great!
  • You've probably all eaten it at some point because it's used as an anti caking/ flow agent in many commercial foods. It's supposed to be magical and cure all sorts of stuff. In desperation I tried it for some IBS issues and it did help a little but mostly I just got super great looking fingernails and thicker hair. Which…
  • I haven't raised it for weight loss purposes but I can tell you it helps with my IBS. Some benefits aren't reflected on the scale or in numbers but just in how much better I feel.
  • My inspiration was my 400+ pound aunt. She raised me so she was more like a mom to me. In the last years of her life I went to her house regularly because she was house bound and tied to an oxygen tank. She spent about two weeks in the hospital before she slipped into a coma and we eventually had to let her go. Watching…
  • It's never too late to start! I've been on the flip side of 40 for almost four years now and I'm actually really enjoying it! I like lifting weights so this lady is one of my inspirations since she started lifting when she was older than I am now. http://ernestineshepherd.net/?page_id=2
  • So if any of you actually try this and by some miracle, it tastes good, could you please report back? I'm actually allergic to avocado and I desperately miss guacamole but it's not worth dying for. I know it won't be the same but if it tastes good I'd love to know! I just don't want to go to all the trouble of making it if…
  • Strong hands and forearms with his shirt sleeves rolled back a few times. Swoon! :p I do also love a set of broad shoulders.
  • There is a cupcake store right next door to our gym. Sometimes I get an additional workout trying to keep my husband and son from going in there after! Their thought is "we worked out! We earned it!" My thought is, "I didn't just workout to blow it on an unplanned cupcake!" That said, yesterday I had a 422 calorie…
  • It's my son's birthday today so I ate a 422 calorie piece of chocolate caramel torte and still have calories left over. I enjoyed every bite of it without guilt.
  • I finally realized one day that he's too preoccupied with the things he likes to notice the things about me that I think are issues. He's not perfect either but I don't see that stuff, I just see him, why would he be different? Like someone above said, learn to love yourself right where you're at. It makes it so much more…
  • I'm also in the barbell hip thrust group. I always get someone staring at me when I do them but the worst was the old guy. He just draped himself over a machine, propped his chin up on his hand and openly stared while I did them. I swear if he'd had popcorn he'd have been eating it.
  • I use half & half in my coffee (50 grams) and none in my tea. I don't typically have any food with either. Coffee is my morning indulgence and I don't eat breakfast until about an hour later. Tea is either in the late afternoon (black) or in the evening while I wind down from the day (herbal or no caffeine). My little…
  • I cook my eggs in coconut oil or butter and just log it into my diary. I like how they taste that way.
  • I have the privilege of being able to stay home but my husband could relate to this. He's up at 4:30 am and works long hours. His motivation tends to me me. We go to the gym together to workout and sometimes I almost have to drag him but he goes. He isn't being forced against his will, he appreciates having a workout…
  • My suggestion is see if your library has any. Our system allows us to go online and order things and then we pick them up at our library. I've tried so many DVD's that way and without commitment. I'm able to try new things but it's no big deal if I don't like them. I've ended up buying a couple of the favorites.
  • I'm at home but for my husband's lunch I do similar to Amanda; I make extra of whatever is for dinner and put that in his lunch for him.
  • My own anecdotal experience is that I am more flexible because I lift. I used to do Taekwondo where we stretched during every workout but I still had very poor hip flexibility. I haven't done TKD for a few years but I've been lifting for just over a year and I'm very lazy about stretching. My hip flexibility has improved…
  • I don't have PCOS but I have told my children that when I'm old they'd better come to the home and take care of my chin and mustache hairs. They are not allowed to leave me sitting in my wheel chair with pudding in my beard. ;)
  • You might find better support in a group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/37-primal-paleo-support-group
  • I don't know where you're located but through Facebook there are "Buy Nothing" groups popping up all over the place. These are groups where people can gift things they no longer use and people can ask if someone has something they need. I'm in one local to me and it's turning out to be kind of fun. I have seen several…
  • New Rules of Lifting (there are several variations on the book but they're all complete lifting plans), Strong Lifts, Strong Curves, Starting Strength... those are a few very good plans you could look into for direction. Some of those you should be able to find at your local library so you can check them out before…
  • I wear Vans. They're flat like the Converse but have a little more room in the toe so I liked them better. It doesn't hurt that they're black and sparkly either!
