  • I don't! And the scale hasn't budged in 2 weeks. Eating right will only get me so far.
  • Fasting has a long history as a spiritual practice. I say look at your own history/limits and use them to inform yourself about what works for you. I do believe you should try to keep to a certain weekly caloric total. Can you use past binging as way to inform your first two meals after fasting? Maybe a fiber drink a…

  • The first two weeks sucks as you try to learn how to eat satisfying, filling food and stay under your limit. The next two weeks suck as you try to meet your limit by eating something before bedtime so you're not under. Right now? I hit a plateau and rather than add in exercise, I started maintaining till I can psych myself…
  • Wear what makes you feel comfortable. Stretch marks? Nobody is perfect! Mine show no matter what, so if I want to swim and not wear board shorts, I have to share them. But the most important thing is how you feel, what makes you feel good and relaxed. So wear for YOU.
  • Keep logging. Always be very honest with your logging. And if you're having a stressful time, maintain for a week or two. I'm maintaining right now. I mean at some point in the future it will be maintainance plus tune ups, so I'm not going to beat myself up for taking a couple of weeks off of weight loss. I'm not giving…
  • I find it reassuring to know that I'm not on a diet or trying to lose a lot of weight. I just plug in the day's food and try to keep it around the recommended allowance. I'd rather do it like this and weigh less several months from now, than do it any other way and have the scale rule my life. Slow and steady wins the…
  • foodily.com I cook lots of new stuff now, and this site helps me find stuff to make.
  • I totally see your actions as smart and efficient with your allowance. it all adds up. Thanks for posting the topic. I switched from 2% to nonfat in my 2 lattes a day with sugar. Then I switched the milk to sweetened soy, but didn't add sugar. Then I dropped to one latte a day. Now I have that latte with unsweetened soy…
  • ME TOO (sigh, more than once)
  • I too love ranch dressing. What is it about ranch that you love? I like the tanginess, so nonfat Greek yogurt works well for me. When I want it add flavour or 'mouth feel', I use hummus. I miss ranch so much, especially dipping my pizza slices in it or having it with fries. When I want greasy food, I have smoked salmon.…
  • Thanks, I didn't reply and I've tried the search. Anyone know the post?
  • Cook tilapia with a little lemon, rice vinegar or sake (liquor) and garlic. This will take out the 'fishy' taste. You can get tilapia steaks at Costco, frozen. Chop it up and have it with a white bean salad or some other salad. Or go for meatier, red fish and prepare as beef or chicken. Stay away from cheap fish!
  • Roasted bell peppers with garlic. I put them on my salads. I used to avoid them because of pesticides, now I buy organic. YUM.
  • LOL just tell him. My hubby loves to hear affirming words, but I am such an idiot about things like that. Now he says, "I need you to talk to me about how great I'm doing with this diet." And then I go, right, right, you ARE doing great. I do notice, I just don't say it usually. I do the same thing back, I say, "I really…
  • I think you might want to wait a third week before worrying too much. Your calories seem low to me. So my 2 cents is to look closely at your sodium, wait a third week and then maybe try eating back all your exercise calories for two weeks and see what happens. Dropping your calories won't help you, they are already pretty…
  • Thanks everybody! I love this site. We all have our weak spots, and I guess I won't be talking about mine in the workplace. I do wish I know who it was, though! No one has said anything. [I posted this in the wrong thread... whoops!]
  • Mine was private by default until it occurred to me to make it open to friends so my doctor can read it. My hubby's is still private, he won't even let me see it! Some people just need to be honest with themselves and not feel judged (I criticise his diet soda intake). I respect that.

  • People who call out names at other people: what is wrong with them? They are damaged people. There is something weird and wrong with them, I don't know what it is, is it just insecurity? When I'm insecure I don't try to hurt people with words. I hope! Who calls out names? I know it hurts to hear. They know it, we all know…
  • Same here. I'm not worried. In fact I upped my cals for a bit.
  • Very helpful. I like the goal range versus goal weight. That's something I will incorporate into my plans. Thanks!
  • I started the same day as you did, at the same weight. The difference is, I haven't been exercising at all. I'm 5'4" and I've lost about 13 pounds. This week was the first week I didn't lose at 1200-1250 cals. Your pics have totally inspired me to kick it up a notch. Thank you for sharing your before pic, I know that is…
  • I do best when I've had a real clean out of all food in the house, and the meals are all planned out. I keep a huge amount of hard boiled eggs in the fridge for unplanned meals (egg whites are very filling and low in calories: I add hummus and make a low-calorie egg salad that way). I have one cheat meal a week that I…
  • I found the first two weeks hard too. I still feel very hungry sometimes. Your stomach will shrink as you become accustomed to smaller portions. You will learn to eat large portions of calorie light foods or protiens. I recommend large green portions and hard boiled egg whites with hummus. These can make a huge filling…
  • LOL! If you really can't see it, that is a shame. Look, I don't know you or Cole or the sister, but I do know that MFP is all about being supportive of healthy weight loss and healthy choices. I'd like to stand up for Cole here and say, YOU ROCK COLE! You're making some great choices. Beezalar, this is your chance to be…
  • Egg white omelets! They are amazing and super low calorie. Grate off some frozen spinach, grate off some carrot, chop a little onion, add some squash roasted in a little water, a small dusting of dry grated parmesan: you can have an amazing omelet that is super low in calories. They cook up funny and stick to the pan like…
