  • 47 and about to hit my first goal weight of 143 (down from 165). My final goal is 130-135. Please add me as a friend, I need accountability for maintenance.
  • I'm 5'4", 160. I used myfitnesspal to lose 20lbs about 8 years ago and maintained that for a few years, and now I'm regretting letting the numbers climb back up and back on it. I injured my back, and that was all the excuse I needed to gain it back. Last time I weighed this much, I thought 140 was a good target for me, so…
  • I think a weekly weigh in would be good ting for me, then.
  • I make my own foods to reheat: lentil soup chicken pot pie (with LOADS of veggies in) chili lamb stew Here are some tips: I make sure half the plate is steamed or lightly sautéed veggies (if only I did this every day...) I only eat protein at one meal if possible (if only I did this every day...) Keep whole grain bread on…
  • When I saw your subject line I thought, no way. That has to be something off, something wrong. But when I read your post I cried, it really touched my heart. Congratulations, you are rocking! You are making a difference to yourself and to others. If you ever find yourself losing your way, remember that you have already…
  • I think since you have so little to go that it will just be slow from here. Maybe you can do temporary fix stuff like drink water and cut back salt? It must be frustrating for loss to be slow but you do look totally amazing! Take comfort in looking fantastic!
  • Start on a Thursday by washing your hair and braiding it or planning on wearing a hat: combing or blow drying hair after workout 1 is awful. You'll still be able to walk Friday morning but you'll be the most sore on Saturday. By Monday you'll start to feel good and strong and by Tuesday you won't feel constantly sore. 30…
  • Try more measurements, neck, arm, hips etc. If you're concerned about your middle, try stuff like: drinking lots of water and cutting back on salt working on posture isometric exercises like squeezing in your abs and holding a different times throughout the day A 10lb loss is awesome. Congrats! I don't know how much more…
  • That made me laugh out load, almond LOL!
  • I wear kitten heels, low heels and rarely, high heels. I find the shape of the toe box makes a big difference for me: no squished toes. I could barely wear heels before MFP. One year later I am happy to wear them again. I lost 25lbs, from 170 to 145, right now I'm back at 50 and starting logging again.
  • Based on my personal experience, please be very assiduous in logging calories in and calories out. I lost enough weight a year ago to no longer be 'overweight' on a BMI chart. Now, one year later, I see the weight creeping back up (by 2 or 3 pounds). But really, this represents several weeks, even months, of eating more…
  • Your dedication and will power and determination are so inspiring. Look at you! Who can say "it's impossible" after looking at your pics? Thank you so much for showing that it's within reach for those who want it. You are beautiful and strong: I want to be like you.
  • First 25 on diet alone. A year later, I want a new goal that includes muscles :)
  • Motivate yourself and never stop. YOU CAN.
  • I'm dying to know if you won, but either way you are a WINNER!
  • When I read your post I was reminded of how I felt when I was depressed. One problem with depressive thoughts is that we assume we can just thing different thoughts and the depressed feeling will go away. It's not like that. It takes a long time and some work. If you can't get talk therapy of some sort, you can still make…
  • I lost almost 30lbs and I'm wearing many of the same clothes, especially my jeans. I didn't get rid of a single pair. Trust me, they look WAY different. I know how exciting it is to give away those old clothes and buy new ones, but don't be too down on yourself if some of the old clothes still 'fit'. They probably fit…
  • Seconded. Even Jesus said that no one is a prophet in his own house, and that dude was perfect. Your mom, I don't know her but I suspect she is overweight. Don't let her bring you down! Just love her and love and respect yourself. I don't blame you for feeling hurt: it hurt to read about it. 60lbs is amazing. So amazing.…
  • It sounds like you've been having some hard, hard times. I have a lot of sympathy for you. I also have a lot of hope for you, too. Seven years ago, I was fat, depressed and facing some very difficult times. Money ran out and I had health issues, too. I too felt called as a missionary, but it seemed impossible. Nothing…
  • Please try eating more and drinking water. Your weight may go up when you do this before it stabilizes. Try walking 15-30 minutes each day. Try this for two months. Then you can have an honest baseline and healthy metabolism to start eating a calorie deficit and regular exercise. If you give yourself this time, it will…
  • With water weight, fluctuations and the slow loss of .5lb a week, I know it will take a while to lose the last 10lbs. I went into maintenance because I just didn't see progress. Now I'm getting back into logging and exercising and re-committed to the losing the last 10lbs. This time last year I dropped 25lbs and I've kept…
  • Throw out all snack food. Build some healthy mini-meals into your schedule: like black beans and salsa with corn chips, miso soup with tofu (instant is still yummy) or a salad. Keep on logging every bite! When you want to snack, tell yourself it's okay. You CAN snack. But first you have to drink 2 glasses of water and…
  • I cosleep with my two kids and find that they sleep pretty soundly once they are really asleep (about an hour into bedtime routine). Then I can get up for a bit (watch TV in a different room or workout). So they go down around 7 or 8 and I can still do stuff and get 8hrs of sleep. In the AM if I get up before them they…
  • We all eat the same meals here too, but our kids get sides of rice or pasta that we skip or have only a small portion.
  • Duh, just saw that you posted. I was going to say don't go if it will make you feel bad. I'm glad you did go cuz it sounds like you made some friends. you taught me a lesson here!
  • Wow just reading this gave me a huge jolt of motivation. Way to go, you! 100 a day? YOU ARE AWESOME. EDIT: durr, meant to quote the 100 a day squat-lunger. whoops!
  • Drink a lot of water. I didn't before and I just started trying it. Wow, it makes you look great! The whites of my eyes are so white! No more redness. My skin is looking great. Our appearance is more than our weight.
