The key is to slowly add the fiber to your diet. Going from 5 grams of fiber to 40 grams in a few days will make you gassy.

For me losing the fat started with cutting way back on starchy foods. Most all of my carbs come from cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, green beans, kale, collard greens, spinach and mixed salad greens.

I have had the same response you, although I cut out the sugar back in the ' 70's. This year I cut out nearly all starchy foods and have lost 28 lbs since Jan 1st with little effort. In early February I read wheat belly. In my opinion, what he says about wheat is really about starchy foods.

Maybe you gained some muscle weight? Are your clothes fitting better or feeling looser?

I don't count calories, but I am mindful of what and how much I eat.

That look in the children is known as kwashiorkor which is a result of severe protein deficiency. You may be correct in your thinking that excess visceral fat is giving you the distended belly look.
-
Seems to me like its mostly about losing the fat. When you get close to your ultimate goal weight you will like your belly.

Personally I like an ounce or so of cheese if I need or want a snack.

And this would not be nutrittionally sustainable which would lead to all kinds of craving and overeating. As Exill indicates its not that simple.

Eat oranges, apricots and bananas. Also I believe the skin on potatos is a reasonable source of potassium. Lite salt has a fair amount of potassium as well.

IMO, the key to cooking meats with a microwave is using a lower power setting and cook gently until done.

I thnk it is true for some people based on genetic background.

Kids are so fun at that age. Enjoy it and worry not about the calories

Eggs have been a salad garnish for well over 100 years. Seems like there is a salad that had a raw egg broken over the top.

The mango cookies have no mango in them at all.

Not only is Mr Clark doing something inspiring but look at his trainer at 70 years of age!! Both are inspiring.

If I tried that they would never make it to the ziplock bag.

When its Girl Scout cookie season self control goes out the window for me.

Roasting is one method that helps bring out the sugars found in some vegetables. Onions in particular will acquire a sweeter taste as they cooked.

If you don't like bananas try apricots. As I recall they are a better source of potassium than bananas. Also consider using Lite salt instead of regular salt. Lite salt is formulated to reduce the sodium but to maintain a "salty" taste or effect they added potassium chloride. This is also true for the low sodium tomato…

Many vegetable recipes can be sweetened initially, then taper off the sweetening. Many people don't like the basic bitter component in many vegetables so sweetening helps get started. Look up a recipe for glazed carrots to get an idea of the preparation. Many vegetables can be treated this way.

This is the hardest thing for me to do. I absolutely despise, deplore and hate exercise. The nearest gyms etc are 40 miles away. I bought the book You Are Your Own Gym. It is pretty much all the same stuff we did in basic training back in the ' 70's. I didn't like the stuff back then. I do like physical work and outdoor…

First, relax and be calm. Stress and anxiety release cortisol which promotes weight maintenance if not weight gain. I worked a lot of weddings and 8 lbs will not ruin your day. Make sure your final fitting is close to your wedding so the dress fits properly at whatever weight/size you are at that time. A properly fitted…

I drink green tea because I like it. Until I joined MFP I had never heard that green tea reduces body fat. My question is, why do people think it reduces body fat?
-
In my opinion yes. Many extremely obese people who eventually lost a lot of weight started out by walking. As you walk you will need to add to the difficulty by changing the terrain, the pace and by adding weight in the form of a backpack or weighted vest.

Small amount of the lasagna, green beans and salad. Skip the bread and enjoy a reasonable amount of cake or dessert.

A little story along the lines of what mydeloo78 said. An older man was shoveling corn grain with a large grain grain shovel. Every so often he would switch to a smaller flat bladed shovel for 10 minutes wwithout stopping. A younger worker at the grain mill asked him why he did that. The older man replied, " That's when…

There generally is nothing that can be done until a person such as your sibling wants to change their life. That rarely happens.

The replies by dancey.... and stines are why its not strictly calories in versus calories out. It has a lot to do with the balance of those calories and the actual nutrient content of both macro and micro nutrients.

I agree with dancey..... and would add that it doesn't have to be gym workouts or specifically what we call exercise. You just need to have activity that makes you a little sweaty and warm. That could be yard work, heavy household cleaning, gardening, a bike ride, a local hike etc.
