  • Congrats!! I'm coming to the end of my first week of marathon training (full in late October) and have been curious about how manageable Whole30 is during training - especially on long run days. What kinds of things did you eat before/after? Also, since GUs and other gels are not allowed, how did you hydrate/re-fuel when…
  • Ditto this Running alone isn't going to do much. If you've hit a plateau, you need to change things up. Try some strength training - muscle burns fat. Also, I'd be wary of eating less - if you're not eating enough, your body is going to go into starvation mode and hang onto every. single. thing. you put into it. More often…
  • I recently started using a 10oz Nathan handheld bottle and I'm pretty thrilled with it. It's got a strap so it's really like I'm not holding anything (I hate running with things in my hand, which is why I've just now gotten around to using one). I also have a Camelbak backpack which I love, but I try to hold off as long…
  • Samantha, just a smidge north of Dallas. High school track drop out, anti-athlete. I started running just over three years ago. I ran my first full marathon in October, my second in December, my first half in Feb, and my first 10k in June (because I pretty much do everything backwards :-P ) I just started training for…
  • Detroit FreePress Marathon in October (second time, 3rd full) - excited to see how much I've improved over the last year! Dallas (White Rock) in December - likely the half, possibly the full. I did the full last year, burnt out with the flu. I don't have good memories! New Years Double - Half on NYE and Half on NYD. Toss…
  • Can't make margaritas? Dealbreaker. You didn't request Nickelback, did you?
  • I say go for it - you've trained hard and 13 miles pushing a jogging stroller is pretty bad a** :)
  • Big ditto for Hal and the running shoes. The first thing I tell anyone is to go to a running specialty store - not your Academy/****s/etc - and let them fit you. It will make a huge difference.
  • I am wondering the same thing. I bought one of his books today (was torn between Higdon and Galloway), as my ortho is out of town, and I'm beginning to think that the plan he put together has too many days/miles. Mine is in October as well.
  • Mine is coming up on the 20th of this month, and I am looking forward to it. I have not done this one before, and I have heard mixed reviews on it, so I am not sure what to expect. I've been assured that I'll have no problem, though :)
