So my hope here is to provide some other schools of thought, since I found this to be interesting. Healthy - I have heard the tip of thinking of breakfast as not breakfast. I don't know if you are in America, but I go to's tend to be eggs, bacon, potatoes of some kind, sausage, biscuits, pancakes, etc. This all piled…

This thread has me wanting to dig through storage. A LONG time ago, I bought a bento, not knowing it was for onigiri and now I want to dig it out and have a go with it. I tossed it in storage because I didn't know what to do with that awkward top portion (lots of bread? two apples?).

I keep having my moments, but I can't follow through! I love photography, but hate to be in front of the camera. I used to be fifty pounds lighter and if I had something I felt to be unflattering, then I could move my body in such a way to mask or hide it. Fifty pounds later, I can't do that. The weight is all over and…

I am moving towards fruits and veggies which are natural but need to be refrigerated for freshness. The pantry has yet to be cleaned out of made meals, sodium laden foods, unhealthy snacks, etc. I am attempting to find foods that are processed very little. Food staples that are great additives to meals. Things that need to…

Your one word response offered nothing to the conversation. If you attempted to make a point by saying soap and then said something to the effect of "let's be real, the term is really vague and broad. Can you narrow it down a bit," then I wouldn't be so up in arms. But many people made the joke, it's not funny, and we are…

Thanks for actually answering the question. Greatly appreciated.

The three parts of a grain are the bran, the germ and the endosperm. Processing for white pasta forces out the bran and the germ leaving the white noodles nutritionally lacking versus a pasta that incorporates all three elements of the grain. Forcing out these elements deprives the pasta of fiber, b vitamins, vitamin E,…

Thanks for the article. I usually opt for brown rice because I know I do not receive enough fiber in my diet at the moment, but I have never known about the role or effects of phytic acid, so this is an interesting pro for white rice.

I just said clean for the convenience, since most people know what you mean by that, but I didn't realize that this was a community of 12 year olds.
-
Just trying to incorporate foods in my pantry that as close to their natural state as possible.

Go mind-numbingly slow. Couch to 5K is great, but have a slow conversational pace to prevent from burning out from having started out too fast. . Couch to 5K is a great way to start establishing a running habit.

I weigh myself once a week on the same day. I do get discouraged, but I also try to think, "okay, I've been eating better and working out. Maybe I lost weight fat and gain muscle so that's why it hasn't budged."

I can't imagine you can drink too much, unless you go out of your way to chug and chug and chug. I usually try to get 8 cups in my everyday and I usually feel pretty good, no persistent thirst throughout the day. If you drink plenty of water and drink when you're not thirsty what is the point. If you drink so much water…

Why not use the MFP diary/app? That would give you a good estimate and if you have a smart phone you can scan the barcode of the foods you are using and it will automatically pull up the nutritional information and you only have to adjust the amounts you are using. From what I see it's around 120 and I might have…

Personally, I find the purple ones more sweet and the green ones more sour.

That's like french fries to me!

When I first started I was STARVING. I not only was eating healthy, but had cut down on portions. The only thing I could think of was that I had stretched my stomach to consume large amounts of food that eating what was considered proper didn't activate my stretch receptors in my stomach, so it did not prompt satiety. The…

I cannot find you!

I just decided to do it and uploaded my first video! Feel free to subscribe if you like! Thanks! http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxT3NvMB3DUN0EeRMoqSBUQ?feature=mhee

As am I! But that's the best time to start, you get a nice log for yourself in the future and people can come along and cheer for you!
-
I want to do it! So badly. I even got a video set up, but I haven't uploaded it yet because I'm scared lol
-
Congrats to both of you and good luck! That's a wonderful gift!

Thanks everyone! I got some models in mind to try out now! :D

So since you're not experiencing weight loss, is it because you found something else to compensate? I found when I dropped coke I wanted to eat more sugary foods which would be counter-intuitive to why I dropped the coke in the first place.
-
I used to drink a lot of regular coke and if I didn't have one I would get headaches. So, no weight loss, but my headaches are gone! Which I still consider a success!

I think this is a situation where yeah, it is sugar, but there are overwhelming benefits to consuming fruit that I would not make it a point to worry about fruit sugar.

Some people argue that soy elevates the risk of breast cancer and such, but it's such a staple vegetable protein for vegetarians.

From personal experience, I would suggest a class to just make sure that you aren't developing bad habits in regards to posture and forms. There are some movies, but not a lot, on Netflix. I have a beginners yoga DVD by Rodney Yee and I like it! I got it from Target for like ten bucks. They had plenty of other videos as…

Good luck to you on this! There are a lot of other things that may be wrong, so you might be jumping to the worst too quickly. But since you say that it feels better after stopping then it probably is CECS. That is how I was. I would go eight minutes into a workout and then my legs just felt like they were cramping…
