  • Probably any workout DVD will do. Depends on the intensity you want. I like Insanity because its the most like the workouts I do in Crossfit, but sometimes I just youtube dance/Zumba videos and do those when I'm bored and groovy.
  • I have to warm up and stretch before I exercise or I'll cramp in my ankles, hips, or shoulders (depending of what we're doing). I'm terrible about stretching afterward though.
  • Don't play, mine is like 14-15 minutes. I am not in any way, shape, or form built to be a runner (or jumper) though. I have short thick legs so I'm the world's slowest runner, but I can squat a lot
  • Perfectly fine as long as that week doesn't completely derail you.
  • Also weight lifting helps tremendously with loose skin. Drink lots of water, keep your skin well hydrated, and beef up those muscles!
  • Congrats!!! I finally moved from ring rows as a scale for pull ups to kipping with bands. I'm hoping this will make those muscles even stronger yet!
  • I moved from constantly doing ring rows as a scale for pull ups to using bands. When I started working out I couldn't even pull myself half way up with three bands! Now I use the two largest bands and I can do a few! I can't get many with the bands and I frequently kip, which I shouldn't, but doing the actual pull up…
  • Logging food is a lot of work, especially when you're like me and you have to weigh everything! A lot of people just aren't willing to do the work. I even have a hard time logging. I definitely need to be more consistent.
  • If your friend wants to buy into BS, let her. Eat real food, get real results. Your calories are better consumed chewed. If you want a green drink, then get some kale, spinach, or Swiss chard and make a green drink. If it sounds like a scam, it is. Time is an excuse. You make time for what's important. On a Sunday when you…
  • Fact of the matter is that people who are successful at losing weight and keeping it off do it for themselves, not because someone hurt their feelings but because they're tired of feeling walked on and want to feel empowered. Some people are able to take a broken heart and turn it into just that, but the majority are not…
  • Do not lose weight without lifting. Muscle burns more calories than fat. So the more pounds of muscle you have in your body, the higher your metabolism is, the more calories you burn daily with and without exercise. When you cut (eat below your maintainence calories, which is what makes you lose weight) you lose weight in…
  • This is horrible advice. Dr. Atkin was a floozy. Your body needs carbohydrates to process fat so low carb is never a good option. Basically, if you want to count Macros, which I wouldn't recommend doing for beginners, you should be eating 1 lb of protein per pound of lean body mass, then fats should make up between 30-45%…
  • Well, I'd say lifting is the most effective for losing inches, but recomp takes a lot of time. I'd say for faster weight loss you'll have to mix cardio and lifting. Don't ever do cardio without lifting because as you lose weight you'll destroy your metabolism because you'll be losing muscle. Lifting weights while cutting…
  • Probably cleared up more so because of your diet than your weight.
  • Are you eating your exercise back? If you're not calculating your deficit via tdee you should eat your exercise back.
  • This. This isn't a debate about whether to eat back your calories or not. TDEE already calculates your calories burned and has you eating them back so you're probably eating back twice as much as you should be. Plain and simple if you're not losing we ight your not in a deficit.
  • Some kind of strength exercise isn't going to cut it. Start doing heavy compound lifts. I'm suggest looking under success stories at the post name HALP!!! Lifting made me sup ah bulky (it's name is something along those lines. Replace that fat with calorie burning muscle and you'll see your body transform. As far as your…
  • BMI has never been accurate for me. I'm naturally very muscular; however, I'm a fatty fatty no friends, so it's correct in saying I'm fatty fatty no friends, it's just not quite accurate as to how much of a fatty fatty no friends I really am. For example, my sister in law weighs 90lbs less than I do and she's only 2…
  • Well, it's impossible to tell you why you've gained 7 lbs because your diary is locked. But I've gained 10 lbs since yesterday because I'm bloated because I ate too much junk today. And tomorrow I'm going to eat healthy and try to drink way more water and on Thursday morning I'll be down 10 lbs again. It's like magic, but…
  • Oh wait, let me take that back. I did get one CrossFit injury. I tripped doing box jumps and have a bruise on my left shin. I'll take that over a jammed finger or rolled ankle any day.
  • CrossFit is not any more dangerous than any other intense physical activity. I've had more injuries playing basketball 3 months out of the year (plenty including jammed fingers, rolled ankles, a concussion) than I've had in 7 months of CrossFit (none). That's not to say that injuries don't happen in CrossFit because they…
  • Your muscles do not tone. They grow and they shrink. If you want your *kitten* to lift up and be more round you need to do fewer heavier squats not tons of body weight squats. Get to the gym and have a trainer show you how to do squats with barbell. Then start adding weight. You my also need to lose some fat, which will…
  • I'm going to do 13 miles again. It's getting hot here in Missouri and with the warmer weather my gym likes to do more crazy-intense workouts. So depending on how flubbery my legs are feeling afterward I'll try to get a c25k in. It's a slow process :disappointed: 6/1- .05 miles 6/2- .25 miles 6/6- 1.87 miles
  • Well it won't hurt.
  • I'm almost 3500 under my tdee for the week!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • This isn't necessarily true. I'm sore every week and I've been consistently working out for 6 months and I'm injury free. It's all about muscle memory. The more you confuse the muscles, the more often you'll be sore. Confusion can happen by increasing weight, changing reps, or just doing something you're not used to. If I…
  • Foam rolling does help just not in the way you want it to. There's not a lot you can do about lactic acid build up once it is there. Foam rolling is a great tool for tight muscles as it mimics deep tissue massages (which is why it hurts so good ) and will work on some of the tension from tight muscles and scar…
  • Depends on the type of pain, the intensity of the pain, and why the pain started. I have a lot of pain in my shoulder area for a few reasons. My posture is horrible, my pecs are not as open as they need to be causing my back and shoulders to over compensate, I have limited mobility in my shoulders and chest, my shoulder…
  • This guy has no idea what CrossFit is. It's not just the stuff you see on ESPN. The majority of CrossFitters are not professional athletes. They're moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, single people with full time jobs that are looking for a good workout where they don't have to think, don't have to spend a lot of time in the…
