  • I think eating 1400 while training for a half marathon is why you are feeling tired. Two questions: Is your weight currently stable, or are you losing? Are you tracking your intake on MFP, and if yes are you eating back your exercise calories? If you're losing weight and not currently tracking your calories I think it…
  • See if you can get the gait analysis done at a proper running or sports store and then order the appropriate shoes online. You can save quite a bit that way if it's a complimentary in-store analysis.

  • Yes you do need to eat your recommended calories. 1200 is already quite low, but you can kid yourself into thinking you're eating enough when you're below that level. You're not. The reasons you need to eat your recommended calories are: - below that level it is very difficult for your body to get sufficient vitamins and…
  • I agree. You have successfully lost weight before, so you can do it again. And it's more important for your health that you quit smoking and temporarily gained weight than not having quit. You CAN do this, and this time you'll be even healthier when you reach your goal. Good luck
  • If you want to lower the fat content of your museli then reduce the amount of dessicated coconut you are using. It is quite high in fat and a lot of that is saturated fat. You could try making it without the coconut and then just sprinkling some over it once it's in the bowl.
  • The only way you can "ruin" a diet is if you go in with an all or nothing mentality. Just log the junk food, keep an eye on your weekly calorie intakes for the next fortnight and stop beating yourself up!
  • I didn't have as long a break as you but I finished C25K in December and then was on holiday for a month when I wasn't running regularly. When I got back it took about 3 weeks of oscillating around 4.5-5k until I could get back to my previous level. I think Week 6 is probably a good place to start, it still has decent…
  • I think something like www.myasics.com could be a good idea for you. You input information like how far can you currently run, when is your race, what is your goal time (if you have one) and it'll develop a running plan for you to get you ready for your race. There are options of how many weekly runs you want to do, I…
  • Great attitude, I'm going to remember that! Sometimes if I don't have at least an hour plus shower time free I don't go Week 10 finished today. I really felt the effect of doing two days back to back, my calfs and shins were on fire for the first 15 mins and then it was just plain hard work all round after that. Cannot…
  • It's not too much. Your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) will be higher than that, therefore if you eat under if you'll lose weight.
  • TuneIn Radio is free and a good app for iPhone but it does use a lot of data. If you have iTunes then you can upload music onto your iPhone. I use the Zen Labs C25K app and it can access any music on your phone that has been imported with iTunes. PS. I also use the Runtastic Heart Rate Pro app, it was about $1.50.…
  • Most studies about smoking suggest it takes on average seven tries to quit. Many smokers find they can last for longer with each try, and eventually can kick it altogether. You can increase your likelihood of successfully quitting by using nicotine replacement therapies, e.g. patches, gums, e-cigarettes. This is at odds…
  • 129-138 is probably your target 'fat burning zone'. As vorgas said, you are still burning calories when it is higher zones, and actually more calories, but the focus of exercise in this zone is improving aerobic fitness.
  • Germany has tons of healthy options! I can't stand most of the sausages so I steer clear of them, but it's not hard to find good food. Places like Nordsee have great lunch grab-and-go options, or something like Backfactory for sandwiches. The food can be quite carb-focused if you're concerned about that then beware. In…
  • Yes! I started c25k in November and thought I was going to suffocate, yet today I ran nearly 5 miles and felt fantastic. Keep at it, it gets better.
  • HbA1C is a 3-month measure. Has your fasting glucose come down with the increase in exercise and increased physical activity?
  • Yeeeeeech no way could I even think about 17 miles!! Did Week 10 Day 2 (Zen Labs) today and it was much easier on a totally flat course - 7.8 km all up. I felt like an olympian :)
  • Congratulations on your venereal disease
  • Have you noticed any positive differences in the last 20 days at all? If yes, then cling onto that and keep reminding yourself that you have just started, yes it's a long journey but you can do it.
  • Yup, brittle is correct. OP, your situation totally sucks, but attacking another poster is just going to reduce the support you get on here. I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions beyond the food bank, but could it be worth approaching them and asking anyway? Explain you're not a member of the church but that you are…
  • Thanks madmiss, I was also a bit confused! I'm on week 10 now, have completed run 1 (3 x 15 mins). I found the second half of the third 15 min run really hard, I ran slower than I ever have before and was absolutely wiped out by the end of it! Ran about 7km, which is what I'd done in 40 mins last week, however I am…
  • If you record on Fridays then record today's weight. If only because you will then see a bigger loss after your first week on MFP, which might be nice :) The difference could be due to lots of things, none of which are concerning. Have a read of the sticky posts in the forum and start learning up on what can make these…
  • I'm pretty sure 2 sushi rolls means the entire roll, e.g. what exists before it gets cut up.: vs. what some other people consider as two piece of sushi:
  • Given that the concert was yesterday, I'm curious to see whether the 20lb in two months was doable?
  • Yes!!! Editing...
  • BMI on its own doesn't tell you anything about body composition. I prefer to use BMI in conjunction with WtHR, or waist to height ratio. This takes into account your girth, e.g. the tummy. Google it and see what you get. If your WtHR is greater than 0.54 as well as your BMI being in the overweight range then perhaps…
  • This is not correct. OP, are you weighing your foods before logging them? If not then try it, it could be that you are just eating more than you think. I can't explain the inches lost but not weight UNLESS you have a very high sodium intake and what you're seeing on the scale could be some water retention.
  • If you lost 60lb on MFP you obviously know how to count calories. Why not calculate your TDEE and plan some meals yourself with this information? None of us know what you like to eat, what is available in your area, how much you want to spend on food. If you want someone to write a meal plan for you perhaps PAY to consult…
  • Hahaha, as the owner of another poo-loving dog this really made me laugh. My ex-flatmate had a chihuahua (sp?) that would regularly raid the rubbish bins in our bedrooms if he got half a chance. The worst one was when he ate two of my flatmate's used condoms. He then left the dog with us whenever he went to his…
  • I'm sure you know this, but doing two workouts a day on 1000 calories is not smart. You need to really work on increasing your calorie intake, you will still lose weight with that amount of exercise eating a few hundred calories per day more. Your profile says you are trying to lose 10lb, which should require quite a small…
