Everyone here clearly has their own opinions/beliefs but if you ask me, I'd skip that before-bed snack and move it to breakfast. Its generally accepted that eating right before bed isn't the best for you, and I suspect that if you skip that, maybe replace with a glass of water, you'll be hungry for breakfast in the…

The HRM I imagine will be more accurate. The Fitbit calculates calories based on steps and intensity (running vs walking). It doesn't account for your current fitness level or heart rate. I don't know how accurate the FitBit is at calculating calories, especially burned during activites like weightlifting, swimming,…

MAN!! I wish I lived in Baltimore! I need to keep an eye on this... It sounds like a BLAST! Registration is fairly pricey but this sounds totally worth it!

I'll tell you this, it is difficult. They throw so much delicious food at you, its hard to stay on track. But that's all part of the experience. I'd say if you visit the fitness center daily, do a lot of walking around the ship and ports, you'll probably be OK. I would advise you not to deprive yourself of the exquisite…

It is volume, you use a measuring cup. fluid ounces can't be measured on a scale.

I think everyone went over today. I would be surprised if anyone didn't. It tough with holidays that revolve around food. I am impressed that I was able to stay away from all the Easter candy - the Reese's peanut butter eggs are my absolute favorite. Don't beat yourself up about it, call it a "cheat day" and kick butt the…

Hi all - I'm in the hunt for a calorie counting, heart-rate monitoring watch. Something that can tell me, by the end of the day, how many calories I've burned that day, total. I have looked into the BodyBugg thing they use on The Biggest Loser but its just too expensive for me. I have seen many different versions, but I…

Great post! thanks for sharing! What's sad is that I used to have that double-orange-chicken with fried rice at least once per week. WOO! No wonder I'm in the shape I'm in!

I know that there's no general rule to cover all, and that everyone's different, but this is a general question. You know those workout charts that tell you your ideal heart rate for 65% intensity for fat burning and 85% intensity for cardio training? (for example, this:…

I started this just this week. Today was my third straight day of doing the gym in the morning thing. Each day it has gotten harder to get out of bed. A few years ago, I started going in the morning and ended up falling asleep on the bench press between sets. My alarm clock is set for 6:45 AM. I have to be at work by 9:00.…

I find that I go over my "allowance" of protein almost every day. While I'm not going over anything else, I thought there was no such thing as "too much protein". Is it bad to go over your protein allowance?

Hey everyone! I had been using MFP since mid-2007. Never really read or posted on the forums, though. I used the food diaries and the exercise logs and the accountability makes this a great tool. I stopped visiting the site for a while, mainly because I lost motivation to keep it going. But, now, I am back on the wagon!…
