If you have been doing this for a month then I believe the TDEE folks typically recommend a 10% cut of the calories. (Sometimes they say wait up to 6 weeks). If you have maintained weight then you have your maintenance level calories. I don't do the TDEE-% method so I could be wrong.

Studies have shown no muscle atrophy for fasts lasting up to 72 hours (that I have seen). I stick with a max of 24 hours but have a friend or two (on here) who do occasional longer fasts. Based on that, I would suggest setting 72 hours as a max. Technically, if you consume protein shakes, your body is no longer in a fasted…

I manage a bar and rarely break a sweat but spend most of my shift walking around, lifting and moving things. I work 4 nights a week (40 hours) and have been wearing a BodyMedia Fit which measures activity and calories burned. On days I work, I am "very active" and on days I don't work I am "lightly active." If I average…

Most things that call for salt taste perfectly fine if salt is omitted. Not everything, but most. I rarely use salt at all.

Yes! Cannot believe it took two pages for someone to say this but see a doctor. Bad body odor (not caused by poor hygiene) is a symptom of any one of a handful of serious medical conditions.

I weigh everyday. I don't worry about the fluctuations unless they last more than a week (and it's not shark week). If you know you're logging accurately, don't worry about it. As far as how long it will take to even back out, figure 4-6 weeks. You didn't specify how much you increased your food intake but figure that much…

I actually just took my shirt off to examine my armpit. If I just raise my arm enough so that the back of my hand meets my forehead, my armpit is concave. When I shave, I've always put my arm behind my head so that my hand basically touches the back of the opposite shoulder this flattens out the pit and I can feel the…

Not going to lie, the fat acceptance movement is completely foreign to me. Maybe because I spent most of my life very fit. When I got fat, all I could see is all the things I couldn't do and how terrible I felt physically. Things rubbed that shouldn't rub and rolled that shouldn't roll, airplane seats were tight, I got…

I looked through your diary and it looks like you aren't weighing your foods and I see a lot of generic entries. The food database has a lot of inaccurate entries and it's pretty easy to underestimate your intake if you aren't weighing your food. (Measuring by volume is notoriously inaccurate). I think that tightening up…

If I'm drinking light beer, I typically drink Lone Star Light. If they don't have that, I'll drink Michelob Ultra it has a decent alcohol/calories ratio. I prefer to drink good beer though so I'll usually have one good beer instead of several "light" beers.

I fast dinner to dinner (24 hours) a couple times a week. I've never noticed any effect on muscle. I've also read a bunch of studies on fasting and none have shown any significant muscle issues up to 72 hours.

I didn't gain any weight in my chest and I haven't lost any either. The only change I've experienced was in the strap size. I went from a 36D to a 34D/DD. I'm not at my goal weight but I'm not overweight anymore either. I hope that I don't lose any weight in my chest at this point. The only weight I really want to lose now…

Agree. I don't have any problem with pizza or ice cream. I'm also okay with toaster strudels. I just don't understand the obsession with pop tarts. I think they are gross.

It's an in-bread kitty, of course it's not very happy.

You could always just manually change your fiber limits. I upped mine because I don't really like red numbers.

I lost 20 pounds before my scale even showed any difference in body fat measurement. I carry most of my fat in my lower body and since the scales only measure that, it shows my body fat as much higher than it actually is. I had a DeXA scan preformed so I actually knew what my body fat was and my scale showed a higher body…

^^ This. Depends on height, weight, how quickly you were moving, exertion level, etc... No way to tell.

I've never shopped at A&F but when my sister was in high school, she did. I will admit I wept a silent tear the day I realized I was too fat to shop at Express. I spent so much money in Express in my early 20s. I'm determined to go buy clothes there when I hit my goal weight. It never hurt my feelings that they didn't…

I haven't read the rest of the comments but this is exactly what I was thinking. There are stores that cater to the obese, stores that cater to the very small, stores that cater to men only, stores that cater to pregnant women, stores only for children or juniors, etc... Just because the CEO says he only wants attractive…

Are you logging your exercise when you do it and eating back the calories? If you are, what is your gross caloric intake on days you exercise? I'm the same height as you, weigh less and have been eating less calories and continuously losing weight. I doubt the problem is that you need to increase calories. Are you weighing…
