Well for us nontrainers out there who get our numbers from a HRM, are you saying they are all incorrect? My HRM says I can burn over 300 calories in a half hour doing an intermediate/advanced level on my elliptical machine. Should we just not believe these devices that we invested in for our health?

Welcome! You will love this site! Best wishes for your success!

I have read that HRM do not include calories already burned by your BMR. I am glad you brought that to my attention, because I have not been subtracting that at all!

I'm glad we are already friends!

You can usually find the directions direcly on the corn beef packaging. I usually just cover it with water in a large stockpot including potatos, carrots, onions and simmer for about 4 hours or until meat is tender. Add the cabbage in the last 20 minutes. Good luck with your dinner, I am sure everyone will love it!

Yellow and green squash (summer squash and zucchini) are also great when cut in half and cooked on a grill. YUM! You can also slice them and steam them in a pan with a little water.

My son makes fun of me weighing my food, counting chips, etc. I just don't let it bother me. I tell him that I gained weight by NOT paying attention to what I was eating, and now I am! You are doing this for you. Yes, he should not be so selfish and you should tell him how you feel. But remember, you are doing this for you…

That does sound yummy! I love new recipes, thank you!

Hi there! I am on the same journey as you, trying to get healthy and fit! I am from the cold north "New England", Providence/Boston area. My husband and I talk all the time about relocating to the Gulf of Mexico side of Florida, so I envy you! Good luck on your journey. Add me as a friend if you like!

Congratulations on not smoking! That is a touch addiction to overcome. I have been off cigarettes for almost 2 years now. I did gain weight after I quit smoking and that is why I am also on this site, to lose what I gained. I must say, I feel so much better, more healthy and can't imagine that I even smoked before! Stay…

You could always look into the Couch to 5K Program. This is a program designed to get you from the couch to being able to run a 5K in 9 weeks. It starts off gradual with intervals between waking and running at whatever speed you choose. I have this application on my phone and it tells me when to walk and when to run. I am…

Oh, I am so with you! I have been at standstill for a month and actually was up a pound on today's weigh in. I boosted my exercise and feel better with 1/2 inch off my waist, but no weight loss. I would love to know more about calorie cycling!!

I have the Timex Women's Ironman. It is fairly new and I love it so far. The chest strap is not bothersome to wear.

Chicken or shrimp fajitas! Hold the cheese and sour cream, or at least use it sparingly. Another way t cut some calories is to eat them off the platter and skip the tortillas! Mostly, and what I find the hardest...skipping the chips! I can never skip the beverage section either! Mexican food is my favorite...Enjoy your…

I just started the 30DS also, just did day 5 level 1 today. I am combining cardio also, C25K and on off days from that I hit the elliptical machine. I was at a standstill with weight loss so I am hoping by combining the two, I will have better success. I have not weighed myself yet (this Friday), and I will be retaking…
