You're the one on the left in the first pic? If so then absolutely you look much smaller. Don't worry about the scale.

Well if calories aren't a concern my family is a big fan of sour cream chocolate pound cake and scones made with sour cream http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/chocolate-sour-cream-pound-cake-recipe.html http://allrecipes.com/recipe/simple-scones/ (not the recipes we use but examples since I can't exactly call up…

I've got a fitbit flex (christmas present) and I love it. It is basically a glorified pedometer, but I have been very impressed with the accuracy and the ease of use of the associated apps. I use the fitbit app on my samsung galaxy to sync and view my dashboard and I have actually been faithfully logging my…

The factual information that was presented is correct for the most part, but the blogger's conclusion is crap. It is true that eating at a deficit will not cause you to just lose fat, you will also lose lean muscle. This is why it is important to do strength training while trying to lose weight: so you do not have a…

Nope you're not alone! I guess we're just not a very active group ; )

When I was young and naive in undergrad I didn't realize I needed to eat a minimum amount of calories. After about three days of 300-500 calories per day I couldn't get out of bed to go to class because I was so nauseated and light-headed. Point: Make sure you're not eating at too much of a deficit.

Lol homogeneous. I dare you to put natives from Boston, El Paso, Portland, and Detroit in a room together and tell them they're the same. Freely admitting my map would look pretty much exactly like the second one.

Agreed, though I think the max you could safely do would be about 40 (at 2lbs a week). Any more than that would mean you are either overworking yourself with exercise or are not eating enough. Starting at a similar number myself I can tell you that 30-40 lbs is DEFINITELY quite noticeable and an excellent accomplishment.…

Theoretically yes. Just remember that weight loss is not linear so don't get hung up if you don't lose on a schedule, and also that you don't just lose fat when you eat in a deficit so 3500 calories less a week will not necessarily equal a pound anyway. But your plan is solid so good luck!

I'm mostly concerned with getting enough protein. I don't really pay attention to carbs or fat, though sometimes I have to remind myself that I need SOME fat since I tend to go for lowfat/nonfat alternatives whenever possible.
-
I'll let you know when I figure it out ; ) Currently I'm experimenting with not weighing myself for a month so I don't focus on the number on the scale.

As someone who also does all the things the warnings tell you not to do I will remember this lesson. Thank you.

It really depends on your disposition. There are pros and cons to every method. If you can handle the fact that your weight might go up on days due to natural fluctuations then there is no problem with once a day and just watching the overall trend. If you obsess over numbers then once a week or every other week or once a…

I'm working for my wedding body. Not even engaged but I've got 80+ lbs to go so I figure I should get an early start ; )

Breathe. Here I was all nervous that I may have eaten 200-300 calories over because I'm not sure how my friend made the mac & cheese we had for dinner but you have reminded me that in the long run it isn't a huge deal. Just continue to eat right in the future.

If you're not sure whether or not to get the dvds there are plenty of instructors who have posted their classes on YouTube. Just do a search on MFP or YT and you'll find lots to choose from.

Eggs are not bad for you. If your doctor has advised you specifically to work on your cholesterol then you might want to think about avoiding the yolks for a bit, but in general they do not have an adverse effect on your health.

This exactly. The women that you see with the big bulging muscles on the cover of weight lifting magazines? They've spent years lifting extremely heavy and eating ungodly amounts of protein followed by months severely cutting down their body fat (past the point that you would naturally go when you are maintaining your…

Congrats and keep on it!!

your entire day's calories could be from fruit and you would still lose weight as long as you're in a deficit. sugar is not the enemy. dietary fat is not the enemy. carbs are not the enemy. eating more calories than you burn IS the enemy. focus.

why would it be wrong to work out in the mornings? Your body doesn't care if it's morning or night, as long as you do it.

fellow college student here : ) I usually make a sandwich, a salad, or wrap. If I have a sandwich I will have carrots or a bell pepper as a side. To reduce the time it takes to make any of these I like to prep the labor intensive ingredients (like lettuce and cucumber) on a day when I'm not busy so I can just grab and make…

Also Afternoon Tea to stave off the 4pm hunger. Why don't you just go ahead and eat lunch at 11 when you get hungry and eat a snack around 3?

I got the flex for this past Christmas. It pretty much IS a glorified pedometer but I love it because it is not bulky, the battery life is excellent (I can usually go 6 days without charging, and then a full charge-up only takes 2-3 hours), and I love the android app and fitbit.com dashboard. I find that their food…
