@Jester- This article was interesting. Thank you. @Hexahedra- i tend to agree with you in general. Specifically, I wonder if we have set points along our journey that are hard to break out of and then really easy to go back to.

You can do lots of stuff for cardio, as others have mentioned but it seems that the most calories burned per hour happen when running :grumble:

It depends what you have on hand. I don't know the address but there is a website that allows you to put in ingredients you have and it comes up with recipes.

These are all foods I eat! LOL I'm gonna try that shrimp thing! Thanks

I make sure that I am prepared. I know what I am going to eat for the day and plan to have snacks that I can eat with me. Sometimes if it's hard to resist I will have just one.

Besides my iPhone which is invaluable I have a BodyMedia arm band, a HR monitor which I don't use too often and a Body Fat reader.

I know it's especially hurtful coming from your mother. Realize that she is a person with her own problems and don't expect her to be somthing other than what she is. I have learned that there are certain subjects that are off limits with certain people. Maybe this is one of those subjects with your mom?

I lost a cup size when I lost 60 lbs a few years ago

Proud of you! It's good to change it up because even world class athletes find it hard to do some of the things that they don't train for consistently

Breast or thigh?

You look pretty slim in your pic. It's harder to lose once you are closer to goal. 1) As everyone else said, you are eating too little 2) Eat a healthy and balanced diet 3) Lift heavy. This will build muscle which increases your metabolism. 4) Besides the scale are you using any other measures of success? Are you measuring…

For snacks almost everyday I have yogurt and fresh raspberries or a pure protein bar (200 cal, 20g protein, 6g fat, 16g carb)

Lets not forget about the irradiation of herbs, fruits and vegetables that reflect nowhere on labels!
-
Exactly! LOL Food labels play on our cultural understanding of a word so it helps to know what the FDA's definition of a word if if we want to be educated consumers.
-
From the FDA website... "FDA has not developed a definition for use of the term natural or its derivatives. However, the agency has not objected to the use of the term if the food does not contain added color, artificial flavors, or synthetic substances." It all depends on what your definition of natural is:happy:

I have been on many plans over the years and the people attached to those plans were my gurus of the moment. After many years of experience dieting, and now that I am in nursing school, I now have a better idea of how the body works and what works for me. That being said, my current guru is Chris Powell because I am…

@Jewels- I feel for you. It's hard when you hit a plateau or set point because you think you are doing everything right but now you have to change something. @Dana- I have learned the same thing. Maybe I am looking for that one story where someone tells me that they never stalled at their set point? LOL

At the top of the page under apps, choose the sub category tickers.

I wear the Body Media arm band. After researching it seems to have more accurate and comprehensive information. I know 2 people who have sent the FitBit back because it wasn't accurate. I know several people who love the Nike and don't care that it doesn't have all the extra info. I personally think that Jawbone wrist band…

It so weird because sometimes I wake up feeling skinnier but the scale shows nothing. Other times I wake up feeling fat or bloated and I have actually lost 2 lbs. In the past once I have lost 20 lbs I can wear different clothes and that makes me feel thinner. In general I don't feel thin unless I am in the 160's (5'5).

More what?

I almost hesitate posting this because my opinion usually gets slammed by men who want to say that the equation is 100% calories in calories out. Your metabolism is dictated to a great extent by your hormones. I am insulin resistant and have PCOS so tweeking my diet and fitness to leverage my hormones is essential to my…

Take a look at your diary and see where you can add some calories to meal, especially earlier in the day.

Low fat options are skim string cheese and parmesan.

Best of luck! I did WW in the past and it 's a good program. You will feel better about it in a week or two once you get your routine down.
-
I know some people do this, for the same reasons that you state in your post. I am okay right now with measuring my success by the scale but I may give it up when I get closer to goal when I need to burn a little fat and gain muscle. The scale will jump around more then.

Most people will be there by themselves AND at the YMCA people are down to earth for the most part and of different weight ranges. This is just my experience from belonging to several different YMCA's across the country.

Agreed!
