  • I really don't need to lose weight I just need to get rid of some fat. My cardio's are almost always intervals on the treadmill and the stairmaster. No steady pace for me -I get bored way too easily. And the crispy chicken wrap is a clean whole wheat tortilla with a little cheese, a little sour cream, chicken breast and…
  • I actually gained weight back when I was running. I have incorporated running intervals as part of my cardio but not steady pace running.
  • These for sure. Compound heavy lifting a must too.
  • I took the "sugar" category off of my food diary bc it was driving me crazy. My sugar was coming from fruits. I think as long as you don't have a big sweet tooth and most of your sugar is coming from natural foods then I think you are ok.
  • What they said. Lift. Heavy. Stay away from the scale and pay attention to the way your clothes feel and fit.
  • I am so sorry to hear you are dealing with all of this. I am happy to hear that you are going to the doctor to try to find out what is going. Not being a doctor myself and not having any experience in hypothyrioidism I can not offer any thoughts on if this is something to be expected from time to time. I know what it is…
  • Sweatpantsreb...Being tired and blah makes making smart food choices, staying motivated and getting exercise in super tough! I am sorry to hear you are going through that. Hopefully you can figure out what is going on and get back on track and feeling better. Regarding your comment on the Bulk/Cut cycle. My plans had been…
  • I have been doing NROL4W since March. I have one workout left. Then I think I am going to move on to Stronglifts. After further thought I am not sure if I want to do a 25% CUT or IF....
  • 1-I use Scooby and am eating at moderate exercise 3-5 hours a week 2-I have been doing NROL4W and worked my butt off (I am going to start trying to add in extra cardio 1-2x a week (HIIT for one of them) 3-Macros look good regularly -just started watching carbs more closely, eat less on nonlift days 4-water intake is great,…
  • This is week 6 of my CUT. Nothing has changed...well my weight has gone up again but I don't care about that. I care about inches and how my clothes fit. My measurements have not changed and the jeans I put on yesterday are just as tight and uncomfortable as they were in April!!!!! I have tried the 15% CUT(for 12 weeks)…
  • I am not caught up on the actual number on the scale. I care more about how my clothes fit and how my body looks. So, I don't care what the number is I just don't understand how it keeps going up when I am not eating above TDEE. I don't think it could be muscle gain since I am not eating over TDEE. The only thing that…
  • OUTSTANDING!!!! Congrats on all your hard work and dedication!!
  • For the most part I stay away from the scale bc I don't want it to drive me crazy. I weighed this morning (Monday) and had lifted on Friday. I don't understand how I could have gained muscle since I have not been eating over maintenance. I haven't had a chance to read what Heidi posted and will do that later while the kids…
  • I can see changes for sure!! Especially in your arms. Well done!
  • I agree that you should follow your doctors advice. You should find excuses/reasons to do things that will help not excuses/reasons to avoid it. I also agree a lot depends on how bad your knees are and what is wrong with them. The elliptical is great for those with bad knees. I have bad knees as well and have found when I…
  • I start Stage 7 tomorrow and have been excited about it but after reading through the comments here...WOW! Sounds like it is going to kick my butt!! Still looking forward to it but at least now I know what is in store for me!!
  • Regarding the question on the Back Extension exercise. I asked a trainer at my gym how to make it harder as I was holding a 25 pound plate and feeling NOTHING. He suggested holding a medicine ball directly in front at arms length -not against your chest as you go up and down. I could not believe the difference it made,…
  • Since you don't have a gym membership do you have a library that has exercise DVD's or maybe some friends that have some exercise DVD's that you could borrow? That way you could try some out before buying them yourself to see what you might like or not like. As for being a beginner like with anything else you start out…
  • I still have a lot of fat around my belly and my thighs. Eating at TDEE for 6 weeks only increased both of those...
  • After doing 6 weeks of the TDEE Reset today is day 4 of my CUT. I am doing 15% and STARVING!!! The first 2 days weren't bad but then I lifted on the 2nd day so yesterday (day 3) I was starving all day and today I am starving also. Not sure if I should just hang tight and stay at 15% hoping that I get use to it or go to 10%…
  • bumping to read later as I am sure in the many pages of replies to this it is going to be some fun reading
  • I decided to go ahead and do the cut after 6 weeks at TDEE. 1-I was no longer having trouble getting my calories in and was no longer feeling stuffed 2-my weight had stabilized for a few weeks 3-I was never on a VLCD 4-mentally I was struggling So this is my first week at my 15% CUT. Anxious to see what comes of this! I…
  • I agree with the scale comment. The scale shows a number and in the grand scheme of things the number is just that a number. It is a number that will drive you crazy and not truly show the big picture when it comes to how you look. Also -did you use the book to determine how many calories to eat or MFP?
  • I will add that I am going to be beginning Stage 5 of NROL4W on Monday and have found myself frustrated and confused a lot. I had great changes in my body for the first 4 weeks of the program but have since stalled out. Yeah, that is a long time to have stalled out. I am convinced that the lifting program and my ability to…
  • What exactly where you hoping for at this stage in the game? Are you REALLY pushing yourself with the lifting...lifting heavy?
  • Good Question!!! Like I said when I started off to eat at TDEE I was doing it bc I thought maybe my body just needed more fuel to jump start some changes. It was about a week or so after I made that decision that I started seeing all the talk about the reset and just thought I was probably doing the reset like everyone…
  • I have felt fine eating at TDEE since about week 3, meaning that I don't feel that I need to force myself to eat the calories and I don't feel stuffed. My goal in this has never been to see the number on the scale go down, I am at a more than reasonable scale number. It is the fat and recomping my body that needs to…
  • I have been doing NROL4W since around March. I will do a cardio on my days off from lifting once in awhile but not very often so my only TRUE cardio is the cardio listed in the different stages of NROL4W. I have been at the 3 pound weight gain since about 3 weeks in to eating at TDEE.
  • I am anxious to see some responses to this too. I honestly didn't think doing the reset would affect me much since I had been eating at -15% TDEE for about 12 weeks prior to the reset. But I am feeling so fat and so bloated and just so yuck! I hate the way I feel and look. So I am anxious to hear how it went for others…
  • There is a difference between eating more to weigh less and over eating. Eating more is finding that right number for you -not starving yourself as a lot do. Those that take the time and have the patience to find that right number make this a life change, one they can live with and have great success. Those that do not,…
