  • Just for today ... I will think of myself and of my health first.
  • I practically live on turkey burgers too! :) Using a lb of 93/7 ground white turkey, I combine salt free seasoning, 2 slices Ezekiel wheat bread (run through the processer to make crumbs), 2 tsp minced onion that has been soaked in 2 TBS water for about 3 minutes and about 4 TBS whole berry cranberry sauce (mashed). I mix…
  • I love protein bars but after reading (or trying to pronounce) some of the ingredients, I limit the amount of bars that I eat. Each day, I try to eat "natural" protein consisting of egg whites, organic ground turkey, grilled chicken, a variety of beans, part skim mozzarella. I usually reach >100g protein. Whey protein…
  • Hi, I understand feeling "out of place" in the gym. Other people seem to know what they are doing, but you may feel a little intimidated. I searched the web for helpful videos (free) that would help me with my form and give me some direction. This website: http://www.weight-training-for-women.com/ has some good videos that…

  • Hi ~ You should never take in less than 1200 NET calories a day, especially on exercise days. Your muscles, bones and body need those calories to rebuild; otherwise, it begins to feed on itself (hence, the "starvation mode"). If you're taking in 800-1200 calories BEFORE exercise, your body will begin to shut down. Add lots…
  • I live near a public beach, and I often see people of all sizes and ages running. I'm so impressed that they are out there getting heatthy. My husband is envious of all runners regardless of size. He has said (more than once) how much he wishes he could run. Unfortunately due to a disability, he'll never be able to run or…
  • I agree completely! Walking for at least 20-30 minutes a day can dramatically help to tone those areas that need it when you are losing weight! Best of luck!
  • I've lost somewhere between an automobile tire and the amount of pizza an average American eats in a year. I recently carried a case of 20 bottles spring water for about 1 1/2 miles. When I reached my destination, I realized I was carrying the same number of pounds that I've lost!!! :)
  • I'm relatively new here, and I log in every day to record my calories and workouts. I've lost 14 lbs in the past 90 days (I intentionally didn't want to lose more than one pound a week. I also seemed to plateau, and didn't lost any weight for about 3 weeks. I spoke with a PT friend who suggested I get out of the gym and…
  • 3x week - run/sprint 41 flights stairs up, then 41 flights down in my office building 4x week - treadmill or outdoor running - 2 to 2 1/2 miles each session 4x week - 4 sets 25 alternating ab crunches 2x week - just signed up for bootcamp because I realize that I haven't concentrated on strength-training at all this winter…
