Since you have a barbell, I would go for Stronglifts and then pick a class, any class to have fun and get your heart rate up even more. Although you can make your lifting into cardio by having less rest between sets!

The only way I can combat this issue is to pre-make my meals and carry food with me at all times. I have stashes of tuna pouches in my car and take a bag of fruit to work on mondays. Welcome! I'm really proud that you took that first step at the doctor! The only advice I can really give is to eat A LOT of healthy food. Fill yourself up as much as you need to, but do it with nutrient dense food. Don't eat low-fat sugar-free blah blah. Don't eat garbage. Try fruits, veggies, meats.
