  • I'm not sure what you are studying but if it is a lot of reading I have found I can read on the stationary bike. I don't like to read on the elliptical and can't on the treadmill (although you probably could walking at an incline and not running). At least then you can kill 2 birds with one stone. =)
  • What kind of HRM monitor did you get? Does it have a chest strap? If so, be sure to properly wet the sensors before putting it on. I am 5'6", 145lbs and I typically burn about 325-375 on a 3.2 mile run. I run a 9:30-10min mile usually and sometimes incorporate sprints so that could account for why I burn more. So, keep in…
  • MFP automatically calculates a calorie deficit to help you achieve your goals. For example, if you want to lose 1lb per week then MFP has already calculated the 500 calorie deficit you need in your calorie number. If you burned 400 calories from exercise that would put you at a 900 calorie deficit. You don't have to eat…
  • I know someone that has but the whole lifestyle is unrealistic. I think you only eat 500-700 calories a day while taking them and the weight will pretty much come back once you start your regular eating habits again (or even modified). IMO, there can't be anything healthy about 500 calories a day.
  • I agree with other posters. My diary is private (except for friends) but I am sure to log everything. There are some days I know I will go over (example: date night tonight with 5 course tapas meal and then comedy club). Since I know I will be going over today I usually try to make sure I am within my limits every other…
  • They have a chewy texture to them. Almost like calamari. So if thats an issue then you won't like them. However, if you rinse them, boil for one minute and then dry they don't really taste. They pick up the flavor of the sauce well (especially anything that is like a cream based sauce).
  • You should since MFP already calculates a calorie deficit when you set your goals. Ex)I want to lose 1lb a week. MFP has already calculated in the 500 calorie deficit needed to lose 1lb a week. If I work out and burn 500 calories I am at a 1000 calorie deficit for the day. You don't have to eat them all back but be sure to…
  • Almonds have a lot of healthy calories and will fill you up. Or a protein shake. =)
  • MFP already factors in a deficit according to the goal you set. So, if you put lose 1lb a week MFP already factors in the 500 calorie deficit. That is why they encourage you to eat back some of your exercise calories if not all of them.
  • I can't see your diary but if your calorie limit is 1200 and you burn 500 you are only getting 700 NET calories a day. So, you need to eat them back. I would actually up your calorie intake a little bit and then eat back your exercise calories or at least half of them. If you consistently go below 1200 NET calories your…
  • I also live in GA and it is HOT! 95 degree days do make it hard to exercise. I run/walk in the morning (7amish) or late evening (7pmish). It is still hot but has cooled off enough for me to take my 2 dogs on a long walk. I also do kickboxing and the Nike Training Club app on my iphone since it can be done inside. As for…
  • Absolutely not. As others have stated it is putting toxins into your body and water is designed to flush the toxins out.
  • All the p90x exercises can be done with resistance bands and they are great for traveling. Here is a website with some exercises too. http://resistancebandworkouts.com/
  • You really won't get an accurate reading without the chest strap.
  • I don't know how to post pics but this recipe is one of my faves. 1.5 cups for under 400 calories. I serve it with steamed broccoli. =) http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/roasted-red-pepper-herb-pasta-50400000107431/
  • Tiger woods golf for xbox for valentines day. I do play video games occasionally but that is NOT appropriate for Valentine's Day. Especially when I put together an album of pictures since we had met. Wasted almost 5 years on that *kitten*. You live and you learn. And get wiser. With a much better bf now who knows how to…
  • Why don't you just try walking as far as you can? I started off walking until I was walking about 4 or 5 miles. I then started incorporating some jogging into my walks (distance shortened to about 3 miles and I would only run for about 30 sec but it was a start). I run and the last thing you want is to get shin splints. I…
  • My experience has been they are a little high. I would recommend eating back only half of your exercise calories if you are just tracking on MFP and not with a HRM. That will help you not go over.
  • You could be gaining muscle from the strength training. Muscle does weigh more than fat. I took a quick look at your diary and have a few suggestions. 1. Eat cleaner. You are doing ok but I am not seeing a whole lot of veggies in there. Also, try to avoid some of the foods that have a lot of sugar in them (fruit cups are…
  • My trainer tells me to cut out alcohol all the time (I also have the last little bit to get rid of). He said with my kickboxing 3 times a week, running and strength training at least once a week I would have a rockin bod in a month. However, I love my wine, especially at the end of a long week. I think if you already drink…
  • My chinese place has a "diet steamer" option. Basically it is steamed meat, veggies, with no oil and sauce. I usually get the brown sauce on the side and dip in it. I use a lot less that way.
  • You say you are at or under your calorie goal of 1200 each day? You need to eat at least 1200 NET calories a day. If don't consistently your body will go into starvation mode and hang on to fat because it thinks it needs it as fuel. That may be why you are losing weight but clothes aren't fitting any looser. Also, I can't…
  • Anything by Emily Giffin, Jodi Piccoult (recently read The Pact and Handle with Care), Nicholas Sparks. I also LOVED The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein (it is told from a dogs point a view and very funny at times).
  • I LOVE mashed cauliflower. My boyfriend actually said he likes it just as good as mashed potatoes. You make it the same way you would potatoes. However, if anyone is unsure try it with a potato mixed in first. =)
  • You can always puree veggies to add to sauces. I have a friend that does that with someone who doesn't like onions (and they don't know its there since they don't add a lot). I put celery, bell pepper and onion in my spaghetti sauce so you could always try doing that. I love broccoli with just a little parmesan melted on…
  • Mine have been fairly accurate. However, it definitely depends on how hard you push yourself. Days that I am really tired I can burn a lot less than what MFP says. I love my HRM. It is motivation for me. If I don't feel I am burning enough it pushes me to work harder. BTW-I have a Polar FT4. Get one with a chest strap to…
  • bump. I am curious as well.
