  • Hi all - just about to do my weigh in. Down 4.6 pounds...I love the beginning of diets! It's been an active week for me. Today is a rest for me...just hot yoga at lunchtime today. How is everyone? Happy Friday!
  • thanks everyone. that was my inclination, too. I tossed the un-firm ones and have the others ready for boiling!
  • 1/click on the member name on the message board 2/click again on the member name in the pop-up box (if you are not taken to their member page) 3/click "add friend". Thank you all for being so friendly the past 10 days...this is a great group!!
  • night_watcher...I am missing the daily challenges. Where did you learn about the the 10 jumping jacks?
  • myra - I can so relate to "into the mouth instead of the garbage". I do it ALL the time. What I really hate is when I eat cold fries or chicken fingers...totally not worth it!! I have worked with WakeMed in Raleigh...and you probably know one of my former co-workers, Tom Bradshaw. bert - glad to hear that you are doing…
  • Hi all - had healthy " breakfast for dinner" tonight: whole wheat oatmeal pancakes, fresh berries and ham steak. Yum! Suzi - so happy to hear how successful you have been. Glad it's finally clicked for you and I love your positivity. It's great to be in control! Diane - I was thinking about this group after hot yoga this…
  • Diane - SOTU messed me up last night, too. Just 100 cals of snacking, but I did not need it! Thankfully, hubby is cutting back on the drinking too, so at least he was not tempting me with that. For an after work snack, make sure you drink something you like to fill you up. Also, make sure you listen to your cravings and…
  • maybe you need to try something new...lifting, a spin class, yoga? Lifting would be great for your goal oriented brain, because you can keep track of weekly progress!
  • find something that you really like to drink...it does not have to be water. I really like sparkling water. I also make coffee and herbal iced tea. Those are all no calorie options. Hi Jenny. Hi Cathy. Karen - great run. Way to get out there on a very cold day!!! Nightwatcher/Sam - sorry, I had already decided to call you…
  • hi all ! I just did 25 min of yoga...wow, I feel SO much better!! I wanted to go to the gym for a class, but had too much to do at home...Patti, I am doing laundry, dishes, etc along with you! Cindy - I have really been committed to exercising since coming back from vacation. I really enjoy it and work hard to fit in all…
  • 1. I agree with the above posters...you dont need to wait to start lifting 2. how many calories you burn from treadmill walking will depend a lot on incline and speed. I would recommend mixing those up to really challenge yourself. 3. swimming is an excellent workout! 4. when you are incline treadmill walking, DO NOT hang…
  • nightwatcher...well, your name IS nightwatcher. Where do you live again? what is your workout today? pichu - i like food WAY too much to drink bland pancake batter for breakfast...but I am NOT judging your choice!! ;-) I had an hour-long snow shoveling workout this am. I earned my bacon and egg breakfast!! Gonna do yoga…
  • so, my cardio workout today is going to be shoveling. We got about 5-6 inches of snow last night with more coming today! Yoga at lunchtime will hopefully work out some of the soreness from yesterday's workout as well as all of the shovelling! (why does shovelling have two "l's" and traveling only has one??) bert - my…
  • Hi all - man, I am wiped out! Went to the gym for a lifting session and I gave it everything! Will respond to your posts in the am! Have a great night! Lisa
  • hi everyone - sigh, my workout was torpedoed twice today because of issues with my mortgage refi. I was actually parked and ready to go into the gym and I then checked my email...cheesed me off to not only have to pay for parking, I had to go all the way into the building because the credit card at the exit did not work!…
  • hi everyone - just finished dinner. I made enchilada "lasagna". I layer the corn tortillas, rather than try to stuff and roll them. I put the recipe into mfp and it was easy peasy! good to know that even with all of the cheese, my pieces was a reasonable 395 cals! my workout has gotten torpedoed twice today by issues that…
  • Happy Monday All! gotta run now, but I will check in later. Thanks for setting this new group up Karla!
  • good morning everyone - did not go to my regular monday morning yoga class...trying to get my mortgage refinanced and ran into a snag. • hi all - well, I have to admit that my food choices have not been good today...capped off by a spicy chicken sandwich at wendy's and a beer after my soccer game. I am still 200 cals under my goal after playing soccer, but I am now starving. sigh... bert - how goes the transition home? suzi - sorry to hear about your laci!…

  • Hi all - Sorry I have not posted in a while. Been busy, but it's been a great week! I love the beginning of diets...I am down almost 4 pounds since Monday! • Hi all - Well, I had some flax corn chips after my soccer game tonight, but turned down (a few times!) the beer hubby offered me, so I am going to call it a draw! Me: 3 Lns/d: 0 Streak 0 Days 4
  • here is my two cents: 1. you will not be able to "add significant muscle" while dieting to lose fat. 2. the key to losing fat and improving your fat/muscle ratio will be eating a deficit. 3. I think your workout plan sounds good. Just make sure that you are giving your body time to recover. Not sure how you plan to fit in…
  • A pre-planned approach works best for me: 1. write in my soccer games 2. plan my weight training days to not conflict 3. fill in with running or spin days 4. yoga as much as I can When I just did running and weights, I lifted 3 days a week and ran 4 days a week, with one complete rest day. I did NROLFW and a Nike training…
  • this! Just as some people are more satisfied eating 8x a day and others prefer a 6-hour "refeeding" window...you have to do what works for you. If I did not eat until lunch, I would be so famished, I would make bad choices.
  • I am an avid cross-trainer because I want to improve different aspects of my fitness. I lift, play soccer, run, do yoga, etc. I agree with the above comments. Are you trying to lose weight at the same time? What are your main concerns with combining the two?
