  • no chocolate for 30 days? yikes!! that list would be super hard for me. I think seven days is a good place to start for a challenge, tho. I am shooting for 1 pound a week weight loss. How about we each come up with our own list of 5 things for the week starting today. Like: 1. exercise 5 days 2. refrain from alcohol 5 days…
  • While I totally agree with the posters who say they leave room for wine/beer or they exercise to make room, I am VASTLY more successful with the weightloss when I don't drink. I have been drinking only one or two days a week since January and I always feel like I have to dig myself out of a hole after drinking: lose the…
  • I don't motivate myself...I just make a plan and do it. If I get into the "should I go/should I not" discussion, its not very productive. Make a plan for yourself for the week and then do it! I agree with peachyfuzzie, but also, I remind myself how great I will feel when I am done.
  • do you mean 94 pounds? That's kinda low, but you are 18...why do you ask?
  • Great job team!!
  • Hi ladies! Happy to report a 1.7 pound loss this week. Hope everyone else's weigh ins go well!
  • great job red squad!! @MadAliceNo1 ...coasting for a week and still in a top spot, wow! one more week! no alcohol for me until after my weigh in!!
  • I watched part of an episode once...mentioned above, the costume designer. I was FLOORED that this woman had a 2-donut snack BEFORE BREAKFAST. The enabling, or whole-family sickness, was shocking and I am really not sure why we should be watching people do this to themselves. Oh, and the doctor...this woman lost something…
  • she does not have a bench at home.
  • I have done New Rules of lifting for Women and Nia Shanks. I agree that you should start with a program. What i like about the two I mentioned is that there are two or three routines that you cycle through, rather than just doing the same thing every day. Agree with the above poster that you should do push ups.
  • Bert - I strongly recommend a few sessions with a pt. They can be really helpful. Glad you are doing so well! Jeanette - very cool dance video!! That looks like so much fun! I made shepherd's pie for dinner tonight...DELISH. I put the recipe in MFP and it is surprisingly low cal. Guess if you make your own mashed potatoes…
  • Suzi - that farm house dream is fabulous! Beth - those catered lunches can be the worst. The meeting goes on and on with the temptations sitting right there! Jeannette - who are you going to dance with tonight? Does your husband go to watch? I am going to have to try the quinoa pasta! Kids are always wanting the "regular"…
  • Good morning ladies! My full body lifting yesterday had resulted in full body aches...its a good thing, but not surprised the weight was up this am! I have an osteopath appt this am and then heading to the gym for part of a spin class and hot yoga (or maybe a spin class and part of a yoga class...hmmmm) Diane - thanks for…
  • @cathyd1000 good job stopping at 1! I support the "not feeling deprived". In it for the long term...
  • "you can't out-train a bad diet". Are you tracking your calories? I agree with @jemhh
  • Hi everyone - hope you are all on track for a great Thursday! Suzi - enjoy your sun! Cindy - I don't enjoy the dentist, but its so much better than the alternative! Best of luck! Eating lean protein that you need for your macro balance is NOT snacking...good for you! Beth - welcome!! Sounds like you and your husband have a…
  • Vikki - it is an "L" as in Lisa. I have had so many people on MFP ask me if I was a nurse...but I don't want to change my screen name. I am sorry that you are getting burned out on your treadmill workouts...as I posted earlier today, crosstraining is my key to staying motivated. what about music? Patti - there are lots of…
  • good morning all - just had my regular egg and toast breakfast this am...but I made my daughter a BLT (minus the T) for lunch, so I used a bit of bacon fat rather than butter...yummmmmm. Cindy - congrats on the two day streak! here's cheering you on for 3! I don't really have a favorite workout...my passion is…
  • The real question is whether you are happy doing what you are doing and if you are REALLY pushing yourself by upping your weights and increasing your cardio speed. You can continue! I LOVE free weights and SL 5x5 is an excellent program, but it's "better" only if you will do it. You need to get a little education on free…
  • However, if I had a 500 calorie deficit with or without yoga, one would be in a better position doing the yoga and having another apple!
  • There is definitely an aerobic component and a strength component to most of the yoga classes I do. While it's not going to contribute a huge amount to calorie burn, there is also a focus on "mindfulness" that may help one focus on your goals.
  • Jeannette - that teaching sounds so fun. And you get to be creative through choreography! Omg, taxes! I just bought some software to start that! Bert - great job on your steps! Do you still have short hair like your picture? Short hair is relatively new to me and I sure miss ponytails! MaryLynn - because I am eating at a…
  • I had a great spinach & roasted beet salad for lunch today...with salmon. I love it when others make salads for me!
  • myra - we were both posting at the same time! sorry the duct tape did not work! good luck with the lawyer...any time hubby and i start that convo, the first topic is where our kids (14,12, 10) would go and we devolve into "not YOUR parents" discussion. Also, I was reading back through posts: sorry to hear about your…
  • Good morning everyone! had a nice loss this am...the key was to take a rest day from exercising yesterday. Sometimes more is less!! Today, I am going to the gym to lift and do yoga. making a pork ragu for dinner tonight...yum! serving it over spelt pasta. Have any of you tried it? my family always complains about whole…
  • jeannette & patti - totally agree that the diet mindset is what leads to regaining the lost weight. What frustrates me, though, is 1) we are getting older, so we can continue good habits and our metabolism still slows and 2) I just can't log for the rest of my life. Logging is SO effective to help me lose, but its not so…
  • myra - I can totally relate to "get out the duct tape and it'll be a good day". I had a very low cal dinner (after fries at lunch!), so I will be heading upstairs to brush my teeth shortly so I can be good!
  • @MadAliceNo1 & @FitFabJenny - way to go!!! I think that the third week of a diet a lot of us slow down...I know I did! @MadAliceNo1 - I like to work out in the morning, as then it is out of the way! Sorry that you were not feeling well! My favorite way to get lots of veggies is to make stir fry. I saute the veggies in a…
