  • Patti - love the invitation!! it is gorgeous! Suzi - i have only lived in Canada for 5 years and I find the politics interesting here. the whole political spectrum is shifted to the left, but the same kind of shenanigans go on in the capital. Yes, enjoying our "rock star" PM...we will see how much he can accomplish. Yes,…
  • Hi ladies - for the first three weeks, I was sailing...all I had to do was stick to plan and the pounds came off. Not so this week! I definitely backslid last Friday, but I am surprised that has stalled me for a whole week! Sigh. I am up early for my daughter's soccer game. I have told her that we can go out to breakfast…
  • Not so much to offer the team this week on weight loss! My NSV was that I got out the tape measure this am and have made progress this month! @Mrscanmore good for you that you have your running clothes packed. There is a lot of downtime in the tournaments, so you just have to get out and do it when the opportunity arises.…
  • Oh ladies - I feel so bad that I have not posted lately! I just get through all of your posts and then my "social time" is up! Hope you all have a nice Friday night. We are headed out to dinner after my daughter's basketball game...planning on being good, but having a beer or two since I have been good all week!
  • oh Janet - I am so sorry that you had this experience! 120 for your height is at the low end of healthy (BMI of 20) so she is setting a very aggressive target! was she saying that she would be adjusting your meds to increase your metabolism to help you achieve that?
  • hi everyone - I am back!!! sorry for being absent. I went a bit overboard on the food and drink on friday night and could not get myself to log this weekend! I got back on track yesterday and I did not do as much damage as I had feared! yesterday's TT - NSVs include exercise: last week, I did yoga 4x, played soccer 3x and…
  • @FitFabJenny way to use your day off!! @Mrscanmore great job on your steps yesterday and your run this am! how was that haggis last night? @MadAliceNo1 I find that exercising really supports my weightloss...find something you enjoy and get at it!! @cathyd1000 dont let last week get you down...what is your plan for this…
  • Hi all - just recorded my weigh in for the week. Down two pounds! Unfortunately, I had a little party last night and went a bit overboard on the food and drink...I will work hard to undo that slip!
  • Diane - so glad you made it home safely and are headed back out. have fun! Enjoy the snow! I am so jealous. We went to Vermont for two weeks over Christmas and only skied two days due to lack of snow. Drive carefully! Karla - glad you are back from the ledge! have a good drive! I have never been to Alabama. Would love to…
  • @FitFabJenny I totally forgot that tomorrow is weigh in day! Good luck tomorrow! @Mrscanmore Well, you have half figured out...just remember, "you can't out-train a bad diet".
  • Good morning red team! I am excited to report that I had a 0.8 pound loss this am! looking forward to yoga and soccer today...but, what to eat...?
  • I always wondered how I missed posts and now I know. FOUR of you posted while I was typing and I now know to scroll up after I post! Bert - good morning! good luck on the final pieces! Myra - you are so right...we are here to listen: ups and downs, good and bad, successes and failures! hope you make good on that pilates…
  • good morning everyone! Happy Thursday! I am so pleased that my weight is down again this morning. Thanks everyone for your support and enthusiasm!! today, I am doing yoga at lunchtime and then soccer tonight. MaryLynn - so happy for your lifestyle changes. You live in a fabulous place, but you are actually taking advantage…
  • Yes, I am a big advocate of making your own treats...it may have a cup o' sugar, but we know what is in it!! It makes one loaf. I estimated 10 slices and it comes to 295 calories per slice. I used brown sugar last time I made this and it was better...not sure what that does to the nutrition side, tho.
  • this is not healthy...except for the whole wheat flour...but it IS good. just put it into MFP and each slice is 300cals banana bread INGREDIENTS 3 to 4 ripe bananas 1/4 cup melted butter 1 cup sugar 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 egg, beaten 1 teaspoon baking soda PREPARATION Preheat oven to 350°F. Mash…
  • patti - I just posted the ham and lentil soup recipe (and the pumpkin pancake recipe). one of my favorite ways to have quinoa is to make a salad with black beans, red peppers and tomatoes. I dont really follow a recipe, but I may be able to sketch something out. I usually cook it in chicken stock. Great job talking…
  • Here is the recipe from Epicurious, as is. Because I was making this for a soup swap, I wanted to make sure it was yummy, so I: 1. boiled my ham bone for about 3 hours to make my own ham stock 2. left out the beef stock as a result, but I did have to add some salt 3. browned the onions and mushrooms, rather than throwing…
  • I edited this to reflect the changes I made to make them more healthy and easy to do. from Epicurious: Pumpkin pancakes INGREDIENTS 1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour 3 tablespoons sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 1/4 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice 3/4 teaspoon salt 1 1/3 cups skim milk 3/4 cup canned pure pumpkin 3 large eggs,…
  • make sure you take advantage of tangy: balsalmic vinegar, lemon, etc.
  • jeanette - that sounds like a really fun job! I agree that all of this calorie count stuff is approximate. Those of us that are losing have a deficit target, so just because we go a bit over on what we wanted to eat, its not going to make us gain weight! patti - what about quinoa...high protein carb! sounds like you might…
  • @happykee : garlic. cinnamon. olive oil. also, reduce processed foods. when you make it yourself, there is almost always less sodium!
  • OMG - another chapter in the "why did I eat that...it was totally NOT worth it": my daughter made mac n cheese for lunch today and I had half...500 calories!! sigh! At least I had a good lifting + yoga trip to the gym. Pizza tonight for dinner. I will have to have a nice salad and stop at two slices in order to stay within…
  • Morning everyone. I just fed my egg addiction...I swear I could eat eggs for every meal and be happy. Headed to the gym to lift after I fold a bit of laundry. Vikki- my daughter created her own two hour delay today...sleeping in because she has a bad cold! Have a great workout. Oh, and there is NO WAY I am drinking olive…
  • Good morning all. Great job last week! Go pichu and madalice! Let's do it again! What is everyone's plan for the week? I am headed to the gym to lift after I fold a bit of laundry. @MadAliceNo1 I love potatoes, too. Made shepherds pie for dinner last night. I was really surprised when I put in the recipe how low cal it…
  • Wow - gorgeous dogs! Patti - sounds like a perfect set-up for your mom! That is awesome that you get along so well! I will post the lentil soup and pumpkin pancake recipes. Jeannette - what are you studying? Lisa
  • Hi all - missed my soccer practice this am. Decided it was more important to spend time with the kids. We made delicious pumpkin pancakes and played cards. Headed to my youngest's soccer game shortly. I went to a soup swap last night. I really did not want to bring many home because there was an emphasis on yummy over…
  • Ibuprofen and ice for the pain. what workout did you do the day before the pain? Hard to believe that you have tendonitis after less than two weeks...did you lift something heavy? I agree you should see a doctor/physio if the pain continues. Keep up your gym workouts...just avoid using the arm for anything strenuous.
  • Keep up the weightlifting to maintain muscle and HIIT will help burn calories. Yes, losing 17 pounds in two weeks is probably not a healthy rate, but the beginning of diets are the easiest. Keep up the workouts!!
  • Patti - go to your profile. you can see all of the posts that MFP has made on your behalf (lost 1.1 pounds! burned 500 calories doing TRX) after you have logged an activity. You can also see when friends have commented. We see these posts when we go to our home page and the news feed shows what our friends are doing. You…
