That is really interesting. I did not like the lunge with reach move because the reach challenged my core so much that I did not use weights that challenged me for the lunge part of the move.

hey everyone...finished stage five this am! without question, this has been the hardest stage. It amazes me how tough 4 reps can be! I upped my weights a bit in the beginning as I tested where I should be for the lower reps. See you all in stage 6!

I have never taken a week off between stages specifically. Random vacations, demanding work weeks, etc get in the way though. When I am off lifting, I usually do other stuff, especially running. I would recommend doing it without weights until you get the move down. You might even try a warmup set w/o weights and the forwaed reach. My weights on this move are light as this taxes my core not my legs. .

total of 30 lunges per set. you alternate with the lunges as opposed to what you do in future stages.

Rae - You are supposed to do two sets of the deadlifts and then superset the pairs of moves. the lunge you are describing sounds like a bulgarian split squat. I think that is a fine modification.

Hi! I have never done stronglifts, but my understanding is that it focuses on the same basic moves stage 1 focuses on. I would recommend starting at Stage 1 workout A5 (skip the first 8 workouts).
