  • We've been experimenting with cauliflower as a homemade crust for pizza. Tonight's pizza was awesome using parmesan cheese, reduce sodium natural ham, and made the lemon vinaigrette with lemon juice, olive oil, sugar, and salt. One pizza was under 300 calories and very filling.
  • I'm also on Coumadin for the rest of my life. When I first got on Coumadin, I did in fact gain weight and at first struggled to get the weight off but I've learned that watching my salt levels seem to help me. My INR test constantly varied, so I actually cut down on the number of salads I eat in a day (from 3 to one big…
  • Be honest with yourself. If you're going to track your food, then do it all the way (not just a few meals here and there). If you are not getting the results you want look INWARD first and ask am I doing what I originally set out to do or could I do better.
  • I used food to deal with work anxiety. I used food to reward myself for doing a good job since it felt like I never got a pat on the back when I did do a good job. Yes, many of use have been in that boat...
  • I've been riding every weekend since Jan 20th. Cycling 20 to 100 miles per weekend + watching/monitoring what I eat + 1 to 2 exercise classes per week has brought about a lot of weight success. (NOTICE I SAID COMBINING). This also brought great success when I participated in the 180 mile (2 day) ride from Houston to Austin…
  • Exactly what Fred said - Sodium is a max, and thrive for no more than 1500mg if you can. I track mine pretty closely as well especially since my last appointment said I had mild hypertension. I also don't hang on to a lot of excess water like in the past.

  • Life is so precious! I started on my bucket list when I was diagnosed with a blood clot in my leg about 5 years ago (this was after dropping from 313lbs to 250lbs). I took up learning to swim and a novice at scuba diving. I'm even more persistent now due to the pulmonary embolism I had last May - I'm 39, healthy, almost…
  • My first ink was after dropping from 313 to 250. I was also nervous since I had wanted a tattoo since I was in college (finally got my ink at the age of about 34/35). I'm trying to get my weight back down to where I was previously (around 230), and when I hit it I'm getting my other arm done as well. The first time I…
  • Getting out the house helps me. I also got back into my old hobby of cycling so I'm usually on the road by 7 or 8, ride for 2 to 4 hours, then back home to spend the rest of time with family and get the weekend chores completed. It's basically my ME time but I don't go sit on the couch. I also monitor my food more closely…
  • I've been off my bike for quite some time till I started back riding in January. I'm a large guy as well and my biggest issues have always been wheel strength and lower back pain. I recommend going to a good bike shop that doesnt just want to sell a bike but also offer great customer service and patient with your…
  • I usually eat a salad (Mon - Thurs) with 4 to 7 oz of whatever meat (fish, chicken, turkey) my wife decides to cook that night. I add 1 to 2 servings of homemade guacamole and a serving of low sodium spinach/artichoke dip along with 1 to 2 servings of Raspberry vinaigrette dressing. If I ate right during the day, this…
  • Love cycling. Finally got back on my bike after being off it for years. Participating in the bike ride from Houston to Austin this April. Currently moving anywhere from 20 to 100 miles per weekend.

  • If the anti-fog works as earlier suggested, try a diluted spray of baby shampoo and water on your lenses. Works as good as anti-fog (in regards to a dive mask)
  • Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Monday - to see how I did over the weekend Wednesday - my official weigh in for myself Friday - to start the weekend for Monday's weigh in.
