Dont do it if its just going to be a negative experience. I think it would make it harder for your daughter if you struggle to follow her diet. I dunno what you mean with the last part. You have to prepare her meals differently to the rest of the family right?

I'm not overly concerned.. I eat paleo so most of the actual meals are a-ok with me (roast meat & veg? yes plz). I'll just skip the breadrolls and the Jatz & dip. I'd say.. don't eat so much that you feel sick. Also if you're a member of a 24/7 gym, they will be completely empty on christmas day & boxing day. I went last…

Feminism is not a dirty word. I'm really saddened by some peoples responses in this thread. Everyone should be a feminist, because it means we should be treated equally. It takes into account the stereotypes men are expected to adhere to AS WELL AS female ones. It has nothing to do with dictating how people should behave…

Agreed with Akimajuktuq. TBH I don't like encouraging extreme 'detox' diets at all. Obviously you were doing it with the purpose of shedding weight quickly. Which happens, because you're starving yourself and only consuming green stuff that will go right through you! So yeah, you'll drop weight right away. Is it…

some thoughts/suggestions 6 ounces of chicken seems pretty tiny. That's like 1/2 a breast. You're certain that you're tracking accurately? It looks like you eat out a lot, and if you're not eating out then you're eating the same old thing at home. Its much easier to control what you eat if you're cooking more. TBH I find…

not sure if intentional but I lol'd

I'd look for a really basic cook book that doesn't involve a lot of weird ingredients or difficult tasks. More like 'fry a steak, roast a sweet potato, enjoy' 'make bbq sauce using balsamic vinegar and tomato paste'

I've done the first two days and should do day 3 today. my bum muscles are killing me though. Not sure if its from the lunges on my 2nd day, or spending yesterday afternoon running around after dogs (and fell on my bum at one point, but its not that kind of pain). I guess the squats will hurt more today than they did the…

oh, now the crash diet thread has some context. At 52kg and my height you are NOT overweight. If you're unhappy with your figure, maybe work on building some muscle, but its going to be a gradual thing. If this is a bikini-related self-esteem thing, luckily retro modest swimsuits are in fashion. You can get really…

There might be something to it beyond lighting and angles. If you're at home you're in a safe space. If you're in a changing room in a shop, you've been bombarded with mannequins and images of perfectly shaped women since you walked in the place. So your self esteem could take a battering, which makes your flaws seem…

I just have to say, nobody will ever look at a girl doing 10kg lunges and think option a.

when I first started dating my guy, whenever we ate out in a restaurant he'd always swipe something off my plate as soon as it came. Then if I asked to try his, he'd say '**** no!' so i started stabbing him with a fork if his hand went near my plate. now he waits for me to offer. :) edit; so, basically, violence may be the…

I thought I'd give this a crack. I'm really happy with my diet but I want to be strong too. I've tried to learn from my fiance but I felt like what works for him doesn't work for me. When I was reading the book I was like 'yes! Finally, someone gets it! I knew it was a waste of time trying to work on individual muscles!' I…

I think (well, I thought) we all know that the reason people are ****s on the internet is because of the anonymity. You can't be held accountable if nobody knows who you are. Sounds kind of ... similar, hey?

Frozen banana slices are surprisingly delicious. They taste like ice cream! So when I have too many I just slice them up and stick them in a container in the freezer.

:drinker: well said

I know you guys love demonising paleo but there's a lot of good in it. Its pretty much just about stripping your diet back to basics, and then once your body has gotten rid of all the crap, reintroducing different food groups to see how/if they affect your body. So with legumes? if you don't have bad reactions to them,…

logging food is a pain in the *kitten*. do you cook in big batches? I tend to make something like a curry, enter all the ingredients I used in the mfp recipe thing, and however many tubs it fits into = number of servings. the annoying bit is I don't follow a recipe so its never the same twice.

If I feel like something really specific, I make a healthy version at home. Like the other day, for some reason I really wanted a thickshake from McDonalds. So I blended together some frozen banana, cocoa powder, almond milk & misc other stuff with ice. It tasted really similar, but not so sickeningly sweet (so better,…

I can't believe how long I tried to eat 1200 calories for. I bumped it up to 1350 because it just didn't feel like enough. Still miserable and unsuccessful. Then I started paleo and stopped restricting calories and the weight just fell off! I haven't been logging lately but when I do its usually around 1600 cals, which is…

I dropped 45lbs at the end of high school and my body is a train wreck. No crash diets or anything extreme, just started working part time, moving more, eating less rubbish. It happens. Loved her nude photoset, it spoke volumes to me. sometimes I find myself wondering if I really want to lose more weight and get more saggy…

try cutting gluten out of your diet. I've heard it works wonders with managing PCOS symptoms, and theres a good chance it could be holding you back weightloss-wise. It should be pretty easy to substitute in gluten-free versions of food you're eating.

i'd probably do some simple platters of misc nuts, fruits, veg, dips etc. and THIS BANOFFEE PIE which is absolutely delicious and is both paleo & vegan friendly. http://www.yumstheword.com.au/2013/07/paleo-banoffee-pie-raw-no-bake-vegan.html or alternatively a watermelon cake if the sweetness of the dates would be too much…

I'm pretty much the same! Last night I had to grab a quick dinner and decided to get fast food. It wasn't that good and it just made me bloated and yuck. I guess its good to do it occasionally, as a reminder that we're eating this way for a reason.

I've just been thinking 'i can't take a break from alcohol NOW, the festive season is approaching!' I did notice that when I started eating paleo, my hangovers went from crappy to horrendous.
-
sure, and lots of people are ok with reintroducing grains, dairy etc. But I guess I am not perfectly fine tuned and my body does not like something in bread - whether its gluten, wheat etc I'm not sure as yet. And a lot of people are like that too!

#2 made me lol because thats mfp's mantra

ahh yes, in the sense that i don't like a lot of foods i used to eat. I never ever crave 2 min noodles or hot dogs these days. can't remember the last time i ate either of those tbh. but in the way OP used it as a way of judging others? noap. people can eat what they want, it doesnt affect what i think of them.

from personal experience, i disagree that caloric deficit is the sole contributor to successful weightloss - the circumstances that result in that caloric deficit are important too. I find sticking to a caloric limit much more restrictive than limiting certain foods - so for me personally, paleo is the better option…
