I would be interested!! I had planned to start doing an outside walk/run for 15 minutes while reciting the rosary using the "Mary" app on my phone on January 1st. It was a beautiful day during the day--up to 58 and sunny but by the time I was done tending to my father and home it was already under 35 degrees with a wind…

I would have to agree that I was clueless as to what I should be eating to live right or what I should be doing physically and being here on MFP and logging foods and exercise has made me focus on so much more than calories. I now know what I should eat and I like it! Knowledge has been key for me in making good decisions…

Hello. I am Kim and am 49 and live in rural Oklahoma. My goal for 2014 is to be at my ultimate goal weight of 150 by my 50th birthday in October. I am down so far from my highest weight by nearly 87 pounds and have another 69 lbs to go. I feel for the first time in my life that I can do this. I am a divorced mother of 2…

Awesome ideas. Thanks for the suggestions. Prayer and exercise are both definitely what I need more of and to combine them only makes sense. Never would have thought of it on my own.

Thanks! I am glad to see that those who stuck with it are going to meet or at least come close to their original goals. Persistence is key to winning this battle. Hang in there!

I am Kim and live in Oklahoma. I will turn 50 in October and my goal is to be at my ideal weight on my birthday and then stay there for the rest of my life. Today I weigh 221.7 and I am shooting for 150 as my ultimate goal weight. When I get close to that, that number may change as I have no idea what I will look and feel…

I have my next dr appt on 2/3 and by then I hope to be at or under 200 pounds. Today I am at 221.7 so I think it is doable. So January for me is to start 30day Shred on the 1st and also to start the Daniel Fast for 21 days on the 1st. Together, along with a reasonable Christmas, I hope to get there.

I love that you have an Advent playlist -- What an awesome thing that I had never thought of. Thanks for suggesting this!

Nice job. U will make this goal!

Another resource I just learned of today is the Friday fast intentions of the US Bishops. If interested, the link is below. I will add it to my fasting to join it in prayer with others around the US Please visit www.usccb.org/fast to subscribe to receive the weekly reminder, intention, and reflection by email. Or text…

Awesome game today! I had no idea how it would turn out, but it went in OUs favor this time. Good game all despite the frigid temps!

Happy Advent Season to All! I have no distinctly different plans for Advent this year. I will fast on Fridays as usual with a no-meat meal late Friday night. I have started "A year with Jesus" daily email newsletter from HEARTLIGHT in December and the daily "Catechism in a Year" and daily "Gospels in a Year" start again on…

I did not do a formal workout on Saturday and am bummed. I went to a John Mayer concert and stood and danced at my chair for the whole 2-1/4 hours he performed so I could fudge and say that might have counted as something. I hope to formally get every day this week.

For the next 2 weeks starting yesterday (Monday), I am doing the Miss Fitness Life 14 day Challenge. Each day but Sunday has a workout routine that takes me longer than 30 minutes to complete. On Sundays, I will work on my Conservative Couch to 5K program that I have fit in here and there to improve my abilities at running…

My mom graduated from OSU many many years ago, but I have 2 kids attending OU now. So I am a Sooner now for sure! Always glad to support OSU and other Oklahoma teams as long as they are not playing the Sooners!

Welcome! I am doing it for my kids too although they are in college now. I just want to be around to enjoy life with them for many more years to come. I wish I would have been in control of my food when they were little. NOW I am setting a good example for them of what and how to eat and exercise and they are benefitting…

I plan to start the new year doing the 30 day shred. Hopefully by then I will be ready for it. I just like to keep changing up my exercises so I don't get bored and that will be a good time for a new one. I am pretty good now at modifying exercises to a tempo or motion that works for me and still following the plan to some…

I assume you mean Jillian Michaels 30 day shred??? if so, what do you think of it? I have it on my Christmas list and figure by the new year I will be ready to start it.

Awesome job. Find what works for you and stick with it while it does.

That is an awesome accomplishment! Be proud and continue on I need to set monthly goals as the ultimate goal is still so far out there - thanks for this encouragement.

I see so much talk on MFP about the shred and am dying to know if anyone has done it and what they think of it and how hard it is and is it worth doing. Just wondering

Hello, I joined this group rather recently and have done some novenas with members, also am reading Rediscovering Catholicism with another -- although I am way behind schedule, and got some advent ideas. It can be what you make of it. A fresh mind can stir the pot up and get things boiling again. Welcome to MFP and the…

You guys are the best! I could relate to almost every story told so far and laughed at them all because I have been there too. They all brought back some memory of mine of a similar incident that I just have to laugh at now because it happened and I can't do anything to change that now. My butt has typed on people's…

I really wish everyone would share their food diary with their friends. I learn a lot and get lots of ideas from looking at the food choices others are making. Sometimes this leads me to a better choice that I hadn't even considered yet and sometimes it gives me satisfaction that I really have made a change to eating…

I fast on Fridays until sundown (or at least attempt to) throughout the year and also abstain from meat for the one meal I have on Friday nights. Usually just some mix of grilled vegetables or a simple soup and then maybe some grilled catfish at times. I just browse through the produce section at times and look for some…

Kim in Oklahoma MFP for 160 days! November goals: 1) complete my first 5K race ever, 2) lose another 8 lbs,, and 3) end up with the right amount of protein vs. fat on my food diary for each day. Favorite sin food would have been anything my mom cooked, but since she is no longer with us, I have a chance to make this weight…
