So I'm not sure of you're still around and reading OP, but hope you are and that you are safe. A few things... I'd like to do what no one else has done so far, and explicitly name this. This is domestic violence. DV isn't just about physical violence - it is about all the emotional abuse, the manipulation, the controlling…

I use a Garmin also - ran my first half marathon yesterday so keen for connections on Garmin to keep me motivated! Screen name is Msdirection :)

I've got the elite version and love it. I'm training for a half marathon so the extra stats is fantastic for me!
-
I'm training for my first half in mid May - happy to have adds from anyone else training for a half! :)

I'm absolutely the same. The way I see it - I honestly and truly can eat anything I want... I just have to plan for it and work it into my calorie goal for the day. For example, I LOVE my chocolate. Like, love it love it. There's no way on this earth I could stick long term to something that didn't let me have chocolate.…

YES, it works! I eat back every singe exercise calorie and have lost those difficult last 5kg doing it. The only thing I would suggest is picking up a heart-rate monitor - some of the estimates on MFP can be wildly optimistic, so at least with a HRM, you know exactly what you burnt!

I'm keen!

My weight always remains a bit higher than usual the days leading up to my TOM, then sharply drops the day I start. I'm on the pill, so I've been putting it down to the pill making me hang onto water while I'm on it, which I lose when I have my week off the actives. At least a lower weight gives me something to smile about…

Gloriously well said :)

OK, I'll rephrase - to lose 2 pounds per week, you will need to be netting less than 1200. Netting less than 1200 is not healthy. Therefore, a rate of 2 pounds per week is not healthy for you and will not allow you to keep the weight off. If you want this to be sustainable, and you want to actually KEEP the weight off, let…

I agree with purple - setting timed goals is just setting yourself up for failure. All that will happen is you will starve yourself for a week or so, binge because your so hungry, feel like crap and put back on anything you have lost, and then some. I'm assuming when you say you want to lose weight, that your don't want to…

Thankyou so much for the replies guys! I've sent you all friend requests :) Looking forward to getting to know you all!

I have it every day on my lunch - LOVE IT! The best advice I can give is don't use too much to begin with and always have it with margarine or butter until you get used to it. I have heaps now and don't use butter, but I'm a born and bred Aussie - eaten it all my life - so it might take some getting used to :) Enjoy!

Thanks for the great responses guys! It glad to get some different opinions and see there are different ways of managing it. I guess I'll just have to do what works for me!
-
I'll also add that I'd be happy to accept friend requests from others who are also logging their food while maintaining! :)

I must be one of the only people on this site who find 1220 works fine. Since I'm already in the healthy weight range and was looking to lose just a few kg, I think 1220 is about right for me. The way I stay on my goal and still feel full is to load up on unprocessed food - heaps of fruit and veggies. If you're eating…

Wow guys, so many replies! I'd first like to say thanks to everyone who has congratulated me - it is a hard slog at times, but so worth it to see that physical proof it works! It's also great to see how many others are embracing walking as exercise and using it in that way. LOVE it! :drinker: As for people who haven't…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6Wt9CFb-4s Yoga for weightloss. I like to think I'm pretty fit, but I'm sweating, always by about 5 minutes in. I have grown to hate everything about that woman... but she tones my tummy, so I guess I'll have to let her live. Enjoy!

Thanks guys! Wow, I'm definitely seeing a trend here - I think I may well end up with a Polar FT4. Thanks for the tip to look on Amazon too - found it there $20 cheaper than what it was going for on Ebay - score! Think I'll be buying one over the next few days. Any more opinions before I do though?

OP, essentially what I'm hearing is you want to keep doing exactly what you're doing, but lose weight. You want to do none of the work but get all the benefits. You've done nothing but try and justify what you are doing, and cut down anyone who dares to tell you that SHOCK HORROR, the reason you can't lose weight is…

Agreed

Honey, you posted a topic asking if it was OK to lose 10pounds in a week - I'm sure you knew in your heart what people were going to say. I think you're confusing 'negativity' with 'reality'. Someone disagreeing with an obviously silly idea is not them being negative, it's them being intelligent. Actually, you could argue…

I love carbs, and I've grown up in a family where our main meal for the day is almost aways full of 'bad' carbs e.g. either pasta, or white rice. I could never stick with a diet long term that required me not to eat these sorts of food - it's what my body gets its energy from and I feel knackered if I don't have it. I'm a…

Bear in mind I'm no expert, but I would expect it is asking you to recalculate your goals because you're losing waaay too fast. Despite what TV shows like The Biggest Loser would have you believe, a healthy rate of weight loss is probably more in the region of 1-2lb per week, not 10lb. What are you netting each day in…

Ahh I feel your pain - knee problems suck. As the other posters have said though, there's still lots of exercises you can do. Swimming and water aerobics are good ones, but if you can walk, walk. You'd be surprised how many calories you burn burn walking really fast - it's how I keep fit. Good luck! :)
