Hi Groovers, Still in Lanka staying at fancy hotel in the city and so had a bit more control this week, and at least able to get to the gym everyday or out for long walks. I tend to go hard on the cardio when I am away and in hotels, basically to keep up my steps, maintain fitness while travelling, and burn off steam from…

Hi Groovers, WOW ... you are all amazing and doing so well! I’m still in Sri Lanka and spent the last week on the road in the war affected areas, so no ability to weigh in until I get home in 2 weeks. Not a lot of chance to exercise in the field, but got a few walks in and bit of floor stuff done in the hotel room as time…

Hi Groovers, Oops double posted - so cutting this one out since I can't delete! :)

Yep, if you have it set up right to your height, weight etc, it will be pretty correct - remember, each time you lose/gain a kg or so, change your data on the HRM and it will stay accurate!! Nice to know you have extra up your sleeve ya? :)

Weigh in 10.2.14 - end of Week 3 Hi Groovers, Well I am in Sri Lanka for the next 2.5 weeks for work, so while I weighed just before I left, I won’t be able to provide any accurate weigh in, only measurements and goals til I get home. Still, I’m keeping at it and that’s the main thing!! So here’s what happened this week,…

Hi. I have a Fitbit and for me it is brilliant. There are lots of different types that you wear on your wrist and ones which don't track sleep etc and they are just as good and cheaper. I have the Fitbit One which works for me as I wear it 24/7 and it clips into my bra or somewhere else where it isn't visible and so I can…

Thanks for telling your story Rob - always good to know a little more about our MFP friends!! :)

My fave - my advise is don't overload - use low weights and get used to the moves before you try to load up - pump is about endurance and cardio than weight training, do what you can, drink water, wiggle your toes, enjoy the music, smile and most of all DON'T BE SCARED!!! :)

END OF WK 2: 27.1.14 So here's a great example of why we take measurements ... this week I ate -5000 cal which should have set me up for over a .5k loss - but I weigh +100g on last week. HOWEVER, I have had over 1cm loss all round and my body fat is -1%. So in fact I AM HAPPY!! On sly looks I have been seeing my weight…

Its not the scanner - nor the MFP data base - it is based upon what barcode the put on the items at the point of sale - I had some rolls this morning they had coded as something completely different - ham or something!! Always check - if not just enter the item using the nutritional information on the package - I know it…

I'm here - started in Jan 2013 and intend to be here in 2014, I travel a lot for work (50% of my time in Asia). I do all sorts of stuff to mix it up - Pump, pilates, cardio gym, cycling, running, walking, rowing, kayaking and a hell of a lot of dancing round the house! Also a Fitbitter in case you want to add me there. Not…

This is a response I wrote to a similar thread about a week or so ago .... hope it helps... The key point is to recognise that these are two really different things and used for different purposes. The Fitbit is a pedometer, it tracks your daily steps and some level of intensity, but it does not accurately track your heart…

The key point is to recognise that these are two really different things and used for different purposes. The Fitbit is a pedometer, it tracks your daily steps and some level of intensity, but it does not accurately track your heart rate and does not track all forms of motion effectively - as such it will not give you an…

I have the One - prefer it very much to my friends Flex - especially as a woman as just tuck it in my bra and no one knows and I can wear it all the time. The following links might help - a similar thread on MFP from a few months back http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/992573-fitbit-flex-vs-one-review AND some…

You STOP blaming yourself for where you are in the first instance ... second you STOP punishing yourself ... third you just get up in the morning and keep at what you were shooting for ... fourth .... NEVER try and do what you think others expect ... find YOUR way, (not someone else's recipe) ... because with the brains…

Here here - thanks for these - like the OP I do both but well prefer Pump, so tend to that mostly as it keeps me out there doing it!

With vegemite :) And as a runner up - kalamata olives, artichokes, off the bone ham, red onion, cherry tomato and cracked pepper. Raowwwww ....

I also live on a largely Asian diet, as I spent 60% of my time in Asia for work and cook it 50% of the remaining time when at home. So yes you can as long as you eat it in moderation as opposed to bucketfuls. I also cut a lot of rice out at night and stick largely to rice for breakfast and lunch which leave me feeling like…

I recently had this situation where an already very tiny young person was effectively starving themselves. I tried to provide some concrete and informed information, links etc, as did others, after a while I noticed we were giving this person consistent messages and while they responded really politely, they continued with…

I'm in for a group if you set one up. Not a pilot or crew, rather, I'm an aid worker ... 54 flights so far this year, 6 more to go! I spend about 50% of my time in the field (mostly South and South East Asia) and in conditions that vary all the time (from 5 star hotels to villages in the middle of what feels like nowhere).…
