  • Walking is your friend .... just walk, breathe in some fresh air, soak up some sunshine and keep on walking .... There are also great Walk at Home videos (Leslie Sansone) which you can find if you search, and which you can do if you find it hard to get out. But ya - be good to yourself, walk as much as you can and start…
  • Showing my age and bovva girl tendencies ... LAID by James :P
  • Hahaha ... I'm an old Aussie ... but here and active with Aussie friends of all ages ... there is also an Aussie Group where you can link up with other Aussies ... You can add me if you want a 'phogey" who still loves to mosh!
  • Polar is great - I have F4 or F7 are great basic models (I have the latter) - you can get from Polar direct on their website also http://www.thepolarshop.com.au they have fantastic service.
  • I set mine up as follows and it works a treat .... 1. Synch Fitbit to MFP 2. Have your MFP activity level set to sedentary 3. Allow negative adjustments 4. I log all exercise that is not walking into MFP (and it is worth always double checking that it has logged in Fitbit at the same time - sometimes it bigs) What you log…
  • All of the above - there is also a group called Fitbit Users here which has tonnes of threads with lots of info in it - worth sending out a request to join ... enjoy your Fitbit, they are big fun, but as others have said above - it really is there to measure steps/walking etc, not for other forms of exercise.
  • We did a bit of a stocktake a few days ago and it looks like there are quite a few from here going to the Adelaide gig in 2014 - can't wait - last year was awesome ...
  • Hiya Katherine ... I have sent you a friend request and also my Fitbit addy, happy for you to add me on both - I'm in Adelaide. Donna
  • It will all be relative to weight, height, exertion, tension/resistence etc .... and yes I think the MFP calc's are well over. The most accurate way to measure your real burn is to use a HRM with a chest strap ... but if you can't do that, I would go with the lowest figure and just manually enter it... (by way of…
  • Jase mate ... your attitude to the world, joy in living, respect for those around you and ability to share are the things I see pushing you forwards in this journey ... you have done an amazing job and you continue to inspire others ... well done from another one of your Aussie mates! :)
  • There are some comparative studies around which compare the One to the Flex - it doe appear that the One is more accurate but the rumour is that that is now improved with the new band that has just been released. I personally have seen that most women prefer the One as you can wear it discretely in your bra or somewhere…
  • hahaha woops - I didn't give you the link!! http://www.thepolarshop.com.au/?gclid=CO6vhbTK8LoCFcZV4god-HUALA This is the page for info on international orders: http://www.thepolarshop.com.au/international-orders-page-19
  • This is the link for the Polar Shop in Australia ... (its an Australian based company) ... they sell the sensor and the strap ... and they ship internationally. I have bought 2 Polars from this site and they are really reliable and despatch - I live in the same city and got mine the day after I ordered. Prices are…
  • I do Body Pump and love it. It's there under Cardio and thats where I would leave it - it is after all a cardio weights class, its all about the reps. Obviously what you burn is relative to your weight, height, exertion, weights and reps ... I use a HRM and I burn min 380 and max of about 475.
  • Don't ask .. just go for it ... get as far as you can without second guessing your ability to do it ... SOMETHING IS POSSIBLE .... you will get somewhere and that is better than where you are now right? Looks like you got some great role models and potential support here just by starting the thread! Good luck!! :)
  • I'm a cycler from Australia - I just finished a fund raiser for Children Cancer and had a blast with my team and found so many great new places in my neighbourhood, so intend to keep at it ... however I work in Asia and am away about 50% of my time and for November I am in Indonesia visiting villages in Sumba, Lombok and…
  • It will keep fine... it will keep much better if you leave what you don't want in the skin and then refrigerate - just cut off what you will eat and leave the rest in full tact. Great stuff and fabulous juiced!!!
  • I do pump and I love it. What you burn will be dependent on so many things ... your weight, height, intensity of effort, load etc ... ... I use a HRM and my burn is usually about 360 - 380, but when I ramp up the weights it will be between 425-450. Yeah you do get sore at first, but that will settle after a few sessions…
  • I go to a Genesis gym in South Australia - they have just announced that they are going 27/7 by Christmas, with no increase in membership fees ... it costs about $15 a week.
  • I'm Donna and I live in Adelaide but spend a lot of my time gadding about the world for work .. despite this, I'm here for the duration and log every day and provide whatever positive support I can - I cycle, walk, body pump, weight train, pilates, yoga, row, kayak and dance - basically anything to mix it up and have fun -…
  • Leonie, you are a good woman and a strong woman. Like many of us you are a superwoman with full life with people you love and care for and have first responsibilities too - your priorities are clearly in the right place! Respect! DLx
  • I'm Donna and I'm here and there is an increasing mob of us .... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/257-aussie-aussie-aussie- I live in Adelaide now, Sydney born but lived in Brissie, Canberra, Indonesia, Thailand and travel masses for work. Some of the Adelaide people are planning a get together on November 24th down…
  • Hi Ginny, The amount you burn will be based on a combination of a few factors, your height, weight, gender, fitness, level of exertion, weights etc. I have a HRM and I wear it for Pump. I'm 5'8 (170cm) and I weigh about 79kg (169lb), I use mid level weights presents - my HRM records between 380 and 425 cal in an hour of…
  • Gizzo great post - I too use the Recipe Analyzer everyday and invest a great deal in building my own data base of food that links here to MFP. I also wrote a similar suggestion some weeks back calling for: 1. the ability to change recipes with more ease - all good cooks tweak recipes 2. a notes section at the bottom 3. the…
  • Hi I'm from SA and happy to have more Aussie friends who are active on MFP - Donna
  • I got my at New Years and LOVE IT. Remember it is a pedometer not a magic bullet - I use a HRM for exercise other than walking but the most valuable thing to me is that the Fitbit keeps me accountable to my commitment to myself and my heart to do a minimum of 10,000 steps a day. My quality of life is well improved - in…
  • What works for me is the following. Synch FB to MFP. have MFP set to sedentary and enable negative adjustments. Any exercise that is not walking, I use a HRM and then log the amount in to MFP (as long as the times coordinate, that will overrun the amount on the fitbit site). But you can also just enter it into dashboard…
  • Hi Nicole - I'll send you a FR - welcome back!! I'm also an Aussie - there are a few of us around. I also did my knee when I started running, I invested in a great pair of shoes and insoles and that helped a heap - also I started to do alot of squats and body weight training and that also helped so that my knees cope a lot…
  • Adelaide - always happy for new Aussie friends :)
