  • I created a space to discuss the differences if anyone is interested. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10413775/difference-between-plant-based-diets-and-veganism/p1?new=1 Just thought I'd try to stop the derail that I helped start.
  • I think that it lies more in the individuals promoting veganism in pop culture. Many of those individuals tend to focus on dietary and health aspects of the whole thing or promote the diet and health aspects as part of their chosen means of financial gain (think the dreaded banana girl among others). It's my opinion that,…
  • I agree with this whole heartedly. This is not a dietary decision for me but an ethical/spiritual one that happened to have dietary restrictions due to its nature. The one thing that often drives me the craziest though, is all the magical crap that gets blamed on "attributed to" a vegan diet. It's not magical for health or…
  • Bread is fine on a plant based diet as long as it doesn't contain milk or eggs (or honey for some people)
  • Just to let you know... you'll probably have better chances at getting answers to that type of questions in some of the groups... Here's a link to the most active plant based group that I've found here on MFP: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/45-happy-herbivores As for my experience, things that changed for me...…
  • Yep, you're ok to consume literally anything that is not an animal (that is also still considered food) That said, most will find that A) there is no magic about a plant based diet and B ) getting adequate micro-nutrition requires planning and supplementation simply because some micronutrients are not available from plant…
  • That would be correct... those are all plants. I think the problem here lies in your definition of "plant", because, based on your previous question it seems like you may be referring only to leafy greens as plants. Please correct me if I'm misunderstanding.
  • Plant based diet simply means that you only consume plant based foods or their derivatives... no animal products used for food (no eggs, dairy, meat, cheese, etc.). Do you have other, more specific questions?
  • Howdy everyone. I'm BecomingBane. I'm a long time vegan (over a decade), bodybuilder, and generally boring person otherwise. Just coming to say hi to a new group and wish you all luck... most of the vegan groups die out pretty quickly, so here's to hoping you'll stick around for a while.
  • Lots. Another good group is http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/45-happy-herbivores It's one of the more active I've found. The one above is new to me and looks new in general. The one I linked has been around a while, so you might have differing experiences in each.
  • I use maple syrup, a few drops of "Liquid Smoke", and some oil. Just marinade over night if I have time. It's the best, imo.
  • Botulism is more commonly associated with bacterial growth in improperly canned goods, whether home or manufactured. I've got lots of experience with this as my grandma still cans everything. Botulism is very easily recognized in clear jars... just saying. :D
  • Many documentaries that you see like that are not presenting an unbiased "truth". Many, if not all documentaries, tend to portray a very narrow explanation behind the science that is being discussed and cherry pick their explanations to express a point that may not be in line with the actual scientific findings behind what…
  • Thanks. As I said earlier... everyone is always suggesting large washers and I'd prefer something a bit better than that. I don't mind paying a good bit, especially since I'll essentially get indefinite uses out of them unless I'm doing something crazy. Appreciate the recommendation.
  • Vinegar and water... whenever it starts to feel gross on my skin.
  • Those are awesome. Where did you get them? I've been looking for a good set that wasn't just glorified giant washers for a while. *edited because auto correct is my sworn enemy.
  • Dealers are never ever going to match Kelly BB. If you want the most money back out of your old vehicle, you're almost always better of selling it yourself. There are also services that can help you sell cars, like Shift. Too late now, but if you ever do it again, you might look into something like that rather than trading…
  • I didn't find it difficult at all when I bought my Fiat. Called the bank, got a letter saying how much loan I qualified for, called dealers until I found the cars I wanted to test drive, test drove, walked out with a car... took like 3 days, 5-8 phone calls, and maybe a dozen test drives? I guess it must vary based on…
  • Hey, I resemble that remark. >:)
  • I also have the aria... it's seemingly reliable, but to be fair and honest. Bio-electrical impedance is the least accurate means of measuring bodyfat, so it's pretty much useless for that.
  • I always weigh out my two servings... and then proceed to eat half of the jar with a spoon anyway. There is no better way for me to blow my days calories than to see, smell, or taste peanut butter. :'( Edited because spelling is hard.
  • I make fries in my air fryer every... single... day. it fits in my calorie goal, fits my macro goal doesn't squeeze out necessary micro-nutrients, and makes me feel satisfied. I don't see any problem with that.

  • Sweet Chili Doritos are my go to junk food snack. I love them... until I've eaten them all... then I hate them for leaving me so unsatisfied. :p
  • At the moment, yes. I've done anime stuff in the past and have been building a Boba Fett suit for forever, as well.
  • I started for cosplay reasons... my name says it all <
  • It also doesn't mean they are unhealthy, though. Any food can be healthy in moderation. I've been vegan for over a decade. I eat whatever I want as long as it fits my macro goals and total calorie goals. My health is great, my blood tests are good, my doctor has no complaints and I'm healthier than I ever have been because…
  • It took me a long time to find my relative TDEE. I spend several months experimenting, eating one amount, seeing if there was gain, loss, or maintenance and making adjustments based on that. After several months, I was able to determine that my TDEE is roughly 2800 and in order to lose, I needed to eat less than that. In…
  • I'm a vegan and I'm consuming closer to 1.5 and currently on a powerlifting style training cycle. I drink plenty of water, am seeing good gains, and my doctor is pleased with all of my blood tests. I'm currently fluctuating between 220 and 225lbs bodyweight and between 17- 22% bodyfat based on caliper measure. I wouldn't…
  • There's actually very little difference in the nutrient content as well. Below you can see a comparison of Lundberg Brand rice with Brown rice on the left and white on the right. If you take a look you can see that there is very little difference between the nutritional facts of the two. 10 more calories per 45 grams in…
